Eul was the one who made the original DotA on ROC and had nothing to do with DotA Allstars. His version was 10 lvls maxed, basic items, basic abilites, limited pathing, it was fun but it was very basic. GUINSOO made allstars, made the tiered items, added more heros, and redesigned the map with extra paths and then Icefrog took it over and balanced the @#%* outta it and added more heros with cool triggered abilites. Game is 10x better then it used to be when the items were rediculous and STR heros ruled the game with there 3x crits and 3s 300dmg stuns. As for last hitting its just something people came up with to get an edge like using wards and pots and such doesnt really change much.

No ones really awnsered his question.....
DOTA is a game like tides of blood you choose a hero and fight it out. Each side has waves that auto send at each other. ( like that one mission in the human campaign of frozen throne) the object of the game is to destroy your enemy's main building, using your little guys and deafeating enemy heros.
( really general describtion.)

DOTA was a pretty good game, but its not worth playing because most of the players are *!@!!*%s. A lot of the other AOS games were much better.

Rock Paper Scissors with micro.

EDIT:

DotA and its elitist jerk-off players have pretty much locked out Bnet. It's killed off Footman Frenzy, Footmen vs. Grunts, Island Defense, Wintermaul, everything.

DotA is probably one of the easiest games on Bnet, whoever thinks it's hard to micro 1 unit is a freakin tool.

A game that is still decent now but was awesome in it's original days imo. It gets boring for me after 2+ matches.

I wouldn't call it awesome, anymore...

DoTA is a very good game that's stood the test of time suprisingly well, all things considered. It came out not too long after Reign of Chaos was released, and went through several varations by a guy named Eul.

The Frozen Throne came out, and Eul made a few more version of DoTA before handing the reins over to IcyFrog. DoTA's gotten more and more heros ever sinced, but nothing else changed. Eul was really the only innovator; he made the game great, Icy's just kept it alive-ish.

partially correct, but still wrong.

DotA was inspired from Aeon of Strife in Starcraft, but with lots of changes and thanks to WC3's hero system, the genre was finally complete.

DotA (Defense of the Ancients) is a game which you control 1 hero, where you level up and gain gold to buy equipments and basically, your main goal is to destroy your opponent's main structure (frozen throne, or World Tree).

DotA was created in RoC by Eul, and was later taken over by a group of fans/friends to keep it updated. When TFT came out, they released a few versions before Guinsoo took over and turned it into DotA: Allstars, where he included alot of heroes, and items, and made alot of changes. The game became alot more interesting, however, the balancing was horrible.

Guinsoo eventually gave up on DotA and Icefrog took over, giving the game a complete makeover, the genre and everything is still the same, but it has a much improved coding (which reduces lag dramatically), and extremely improved balance. So far, DotA is still in the hands of IceFrog and it's still as good as ever.

It is an extremely competitive game, and very good in alot of aspects, if you are in for a good challenge and great competitive fun, try it out. It has a very steep learning curve for starters though, be warned.

DOTA is an amazing map/mod for WCIII, but unfortunately has the absolute worst(And I really mean worst) player community you could ever dream of.

DOTA is 10% game, 90% player complaining.

Which, ironically, makes it fun for me sometimes. Save all your money, buy nice items, drop em in front of the enemies base, die on purpose repeatedly, etc, watch your team have a meltdown, profit.

That's the equivalent of repeatedly wiping raids on purpose, while some 12 year olds might overreact, it's an @$$hole thing to do.

Thing is its a piece of crap compared to some of the lesser known ones that were VERY well put together with practically perfect balance in all people and very interesting designs. It got boring for me about 10 games in(too easy too. no challenge to it after 5th game unless there was one wtfpwner)
