Why am I not suprised that Blizzard continued their pattern of disinformation, avoidence and outright deception by locking the thread?

I remember when they were the best in the business. Ah well.

So how bout it Blizzard? When will you be returning hardware support to WoW?

If you want a software engine that you control, good for you. Go for it. But don't nerf the sound ecperience that your user base has been getting since day one. Return hardware support NOW.

Given that the previous thread was over 2000 posts, I suspect it locked itself as very long threads are known to do.

That's what they want you to think. ;)

Q u o t e:

Since they have deleted my informative post which also demanded answers, I will say it again here:

It is your right as a customer to be treated with respect and have your concerns addressed.
World of Warcraft is your game, it belongs to it's players and not Blizzard, demand sound restoration.
Hammer the suggestions forums telling them how frelling mad you are.
Call them and tie up their technical support staff with your rants and concerns.
Email and write into their real mail address if you must.

DO NOT let them sweep you under the rug and go on about things they way they please with our sound experience.

THEY HAVEN"T THE RIGHT.

If I could, yeah, I would stay
And if they're not, not in my way
Ill stare here in the distance
But Ill grow up to be just like you, yeah
Ill grow up to be just like you like you

TBH the thread needed to be locked, people just started bumping it just to make it longer. It was starting to get out of hand.

That's possible of course, but given their history over the past week they don't deserve the benefit of the doubt. For my part they've squandered close to 10 years of built up customer loyalty over the way they've handled this.

How about you add something OP instead of trying to start a flame war.

And let me quote the other thread since you obviously can't read:

Q u o t e:
Voice chat and the new sound engine actually aren't linked, or dependant on each other. Yes of course the new sound engine is used to run voice chat, but the sound engine upgrades have been in the making long before voice chat. Once it came time to begin implementing voice chat it really wouldn't have been much different regardless of the engine we use.

We do understand that the switch to the new sound engine has caused some issues. Any undertaking and replacement of such a large system within the game, and especially with so many and varied machines running it, there are sure to be some growing pains.

The new sound engine allows so many additional and great sound features for all of our players, including the ability for us to do new and interesting sound alterations based on in-game queues and actions, that it would really be a step backwards to go back to the old system.

We definitely understand there are issues, and we're committed to working through them and bringing the current sound engine on-par with the previous one, and then completely surpassing it.

Whether or not you agree is irrelevant. This is Blizzard's game and it doesn't look like they are going to back just because a few people want it.

My sound is 10x better, I like the new sound much much more, who's opinion matters more? Yours or mine? Neither. That's why they do what they believe is the right thing.

I said it in the previous thread and I'll say it here:

Just give players the OPTION of using hardware sound if they want to. Players had the OPTION of using software or hardware sound for over 2 years with this game. No reason to take away a choice.

Not everyone is using Vista. Not everyone is running a top of the line rig.

Dealing with tedium and frustration is not about skill. Taking the tedium out of a game doesn't make it "easy mode."

A lot more than a few people want it. And I don't think they believe that what they've done is the right thing. It has to be obvious to them at this point that their "new" solution is vastly inferior to what many of us had before. It's just a question of if they have the courage to admit how badly they screwed this up.

I'm sure just as many people, including myself, like the sound much more. It might be "obvious" to you, but what is "obvious" or even relevant isn't always what you think.

You aren't wondering if they have the "courage" (lol) to admit a mistake, you want them to admit to a perceived mistake, not an actual one. That's not how the world works.

I've worked tech support for Verizon, when enough people &!@$% about something we'd end up having to investigate and issue a statement to our customers about it. Even that would be a start instead of the guy who tried to convince me that a CPU can outperform ANY AUDIO CARD on the market when it comes to sound...

Spare me kiddo. No one wants to deny you your "improved" sound. If you find that improved, more power to you. But the middleware "solution" they are using supports hardware acceleration. It should be enabled for those of us who care what the game sounds like. The rest can use the software solution which may be as much better as the old engine then hospital food is compared to airplane food.

And there is no "percieved" mistake. A large portion of their user base uses dedicated sound cards and there is simply no comparison between what we had then and now. (Ok, there are comparisons, but they're all negative and would probably trip a word filter) And because FMod DOES support hardware it was utterly uncessary.

They could have provided the dubious benefits to those who wanted them and allowed the others to use their hardware as they like.

Instead they released a buggy piece of substandard garbage that they knew had issues. They were aware of this from the PTR and yet they released it anyhow. Angering a significant portion of their userbase for no reason.

That is a mistake, pure and simple. And an avoidable one.
