I always thought it was a bug that it dealt no damage against players. Guess not... Seems like they're standing behind glitchy imlementation and calling it balance. Similar to how death grip works on bladestorm while knockbacks do not....

Woulda been nice to have an attack once every minute in low rage situations or when other attacks are on cooldown.

Does mocking blow still work on pets?

Haven't played my warrior since LK dropped...

it should deal damage to all targets but only taunt those that are tauntable.

Warriors have a lot of weirdly designed abilities with illogical and unintuitive restrictions...

If it makes me weaker, it's glitchy implementation. If it makes me stronger, it's balance.

This was just a tooltip correction. The functionality of Mocking Blow hasn't changed -- it was always intended to be a tanking tool. I'm pretty sure you'll be fine in PvP despite this "nerf."

I don't think many warriors can afford mocking blow between their global cooldown anyways.

<cough> Warriors could stand quite a few more "nerfs".

In all seriousness, GC, your unintentional second profession is now psychologist/philosopher. Many of these posts only require that skill.

I'm not seeing how letting warriors use mocking blow as an attack would throw the game into chaos. It's pretty damn weak as I remember...

Plus it's kinda weird and unintuitive that in pve you would hit something and it would taunt them, but in pvp the skill suddenly doesn't hit them. wut?

I really doubt warriors would be using it anyway. It would be absolute lowest priority...

A comparable example would be frost shock dealing no damage to someone that can't be slowed.

In PvE, you're fighting big dumb monsters whose thought process runs something like: IMA GONNA ATTACK THIS GUY UNTIL SOMEBODY ELSE HITS ME HARDER AND NEVER MIND THAT GUY BACK THERE KEEPING THEM ALL ALIVE.

In PvP (despite the possible exception of certain arena comps ;) ) you're fighting intelligent people who attack things based on strategy, and not "HEY THIS GUY SMACKED ME IN THIS FACE!!"

So you hit the boss and it's stupid so it attacks you
In pvp you hit them with your mace but they're smart and just ignore you while they train down your healer.

That makes sense but the current functionality is more like this:
In pve the warrior hits the boss with their mace and the boss turns to them and attacks them because it's stupid
In pvp you hit someone with your mace and... what it just passed right through them and did 0 damage because they're too smart to attack me back.

How stupid would it be if every taunt ability worked in PvP? And where would you draw the line? Would DnD force everyone in the area to start attacking the DK? Yeah, that would be super fun.

no no no. I'm saying mocking blow would cause damage but players would be unaffected by the taunt component of the skill.

It doesn't make sense for a damaging skill to deal no damage when the target is immune to the other effects of the skill.

I think taunts should work in PvP by causing the taunted opponent (s) to automatically change thier target to the individual who taunted. It wouldnt lock them into doing anything to the taunting individual (they'd be free to re-aquire thier previous target), but would make for an interesting inturrupt.

My condolences if you just love the Arms playstyle. - Ghostcrawler 8/4/09
