Q u o t e:

At this point we have no plans to make any changes to event or the achievements involved in it. I wouldn't say my advice was incorrect as I know a lot of people who got the achievements complete since I posted, but yes, the randomness can win sometimes. We welcome your feedback and will consider making changes for next year.

My feedback would be to make the toothpicks tradeable. We could get zapped by wands, might as well make the toothpicks tradeable. I know my wife trick or treated as much as she could and in two weeks time, she didn't get any toothpicks on her druid.

But her 3 other toons...yea I think they all got toothpicks. I had 10 toothpicks, I could've given them away. Making them tradeable has downfalls though.

I can see schmucks selling toothpicks for 50-100 gold on the last day of the event for those who didn't get any via trick or treating.

Maybe up the drop rate or let us turn them in candy for them.

Between the idea
And the reality
Between the motion
And the act
Falls the shadow

So you wait until after all the complaining about the event, and the event to end, before making an excuse like this?

Wow. Just...wow.

I'm not sure what "excuse" you are referring to as we always welcome player feedback and consider improving things for future events of any kind. Overall the event went well and we are looking forward to next events happening.

Make items like the Hallowed Helm, Squash Pet, etc be purchasable after doing daily quests throughout the event

REMOVE THE RNG ELEMENT

Hey, can we remove the RNG element from everything?

I think everyone on here should get what they want, because they want it. That's how life works, right?

I didn't get everything and I chuckled and had FUN trying and thought, hmm, maybe next year!

I'm just at a loss here. People are entitled to get vanity items because they want it? A few of you sound like a bunch of snot nosed little kids.

It's a GAME! Get out more :) Sure, it stinks if you didn't get what you want, but the thread starter is maintaining that because he didn't get what he wanted, the mechanic is wrong...talk about self-absorbed.

Rant over, bring on the QQ!

Just make the pet, helm, and mount all unique so no one ends up with 800 squashlings and no helm or vice versa. Also keeps people from ninjaing any of the aforementioned items and trying to "sell" them to their groupmates.

It didn't personally happen to me, but sounds horrible.

What I don't get is that Blizzard has decided to change the Brewfest to no longer require Disturbing the Peace (this has been reported on multiple sites). This achievement is doable since you purchase the outfit and the beer.

On the other hand a toothpick can not be purchased, must require you to be logged in every hour and might drop if you are lucky.

At least allow others to pick my teeth or sell their toothpicks. In the mean time I will play with my Squashling with my 3 hoods.

I know you're a huge fan of mini-pets. Perma-Peddle this year. Come oooon man.

MMOs do not kill each other. They evolve until they lose sight of what made them great in the first place; and eventually kill themselves.

Please try not to get too mean to Bornak. He is pretty much our advocate in this, really. He seems to have really good luck for RNG, though! Damn em! :)

My feedback is that the effort to reward ratio on this holiday are off. Ticket holidays like Brewfest are much better for health and sanity.

The token slippery slope argument. Not much else to see here. You forgot to mention how everyone gets T10 mailed to their character as soon as they ding 80.

I understand the point you guys are trying to make with the "It's a game, you knew the rules going into it -- it's about having fun" Kind of thinking but these forums also exist as a way for us to tell the dev team what we like and dislike about the game. (Preferably without too much QQ and obscenity.)

It is entirely ok for you to feel like there is nothing wrong with it, but the fact remains that some people get shafted by the system and are really not very happy with it. Some of these disappointed people are taking it well and many of them are not even coming here or posting about it, believe me. But really... does it hurt you if other people get what they sought in this holiday event? I'm not saying that I necessarily think that Bliz will change anything regarding the achievements etc but the fact remains that the method in which it works currently is not fun for some people... in a game that is meant to be for fun, no? :)

Ghostcrawler: At this time we want to keep the 310% flying speed very rare – maybe 5% or less of all players.

I'm not trying to jab at anyone or argue about how rare the holiday drake is or isn't. But its clear to me from this statement that Blizzard is apathetic about failures to finish a holiday meta. Blizzard counts on a lot of people to fail and as frustrating as it is to be on the losing end of that statistic; it is very clearly working as intended.

MMOs do not kill each other. They evolve until they lose sight of what made them great in the first place; and eventually kill themselves.

Q u o t e:
First this is not a QQ post about the drop rates and such and what needs to be fixed.

One person, or even a minority of people not getting a drop is not, necessarily, a problem.

For myself, I will submit the following evidence:

5 80s capable of doing the event, 5 non-80s capable of getting drops.

ALL of my characters except one bank toon got squashlings. 4 of the non-80s through trick or treating.

All of my 80s got the achievement (though the ones I wanted to get it on took about 1 week longer to get it than the ones I didn't care about).

My one plate wearer finally got the plate laughing helm on the very last day of the event. For her, it had NEVER dropped while I was playing her. This character and others saw multiple plate helms drop in the same batch of runs, sometimes.

During the course of my trick or treating, I used the Innkeeper NPC, 2-3 times a day, for about a week. After that, I didn't trick or treat at all. During that time, each character got at least 2 drops of toothpicks during that week x 3 per day.

The only truly rare thing was the mount, which I saw once.

Of my 5 characters that could run the HH, I only did it daily on 2. The others saw the HH about once every 3 days. So that was a total of 40 character days worth of runs, x 5 runs per character (for the 5 characters in the group).

Less than 20% of the runs had NO rare drops other than broomsticks.
About 10% of the runs had multiple things drop at the same time. Once there was even a squashling, cloth helm, AND sword.

On average, 2 items dropped per character run set (5 runs).

All of my characters, even the ones I was not running often, had their achievement by the 10th day. One character got his achievement on the last day, but that was because of me not doing the GNERD Rage or Candy grabbing till the last day with that last 80. He had the squashling, toothpick, and the cloth helm well before the 10th day.

All in all, the drop rate seemed decent. One had to commit to about an hour a day per character to get a group, trick or treat, and kill the HH 5 times.

It really appeared as though nothing was wrong.

Sure I would have liked to have had more mount drops, and I heard many people say they got it on their alt, but such is life.

If I wanted to complain about drop rates, I would %#**! about ToC dropping Caster Mail when I finally brought my plate tank in :D

I don't see anything wrong with luck being part of the "thrill" in achievement hunting. The flipsides are freebies (go here and talk to Bob) and grind (do this 5 times a day for 10 days to get your gizmo) neither of which are very thrilling. It certainly sucks to be on the short end of the stick though.

Maybe there should be some Feats of Terrible Luck like "Treat or Treated 50 times and got no pet." =)

I really wouldnt complain if Id seen it maybe once or twice.

Honestly, who really cares?

Achievement farming is the least of my worries, I went to HH two or maybe three times, only because guildies asked.

I enjoyed my magic broom, and spamming the horseman's laugh with the helm, but that was about the end of the interest for me.
