First this is not a QQ post about the drop rates and such and what needs to be fixed.

It is now the Monday after the event, there should be a few blues working and looking at this so here we go.

The following is from Bornakk in this thread

http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=20565929159&sid=1

Q u o t e:
As much as giving out freebies is your definition of fun, we don't think everybody should get everything just for logging in. We feel the toothpicks aren't that hard to get and while there could be some people with bad luck here and there, anybody I know who consistently worked at this event got the one they needed for the achievement.

Keep that up for the remaining 10 days of the event and it is quite likely that you will get the Hallowed Helm... though we were talking about toothpicks here - do you not have any of those yet either?

Currently there are no plans to make any changes to the helms or the toothpicks, we still have a lot of time for the event to complete so we will see how it plays out.

So now that the event is over care to comment more? I did all of the above rarely saw a helm or squashling, others the toothpick.

I was not able to pay for runs, and my in-game friends did help me when they could.

You told us to stick to it and keep trying and many of us were screwed by the random number generators bad luck, what do you have to say now?

The tone of this post may sound mean but I am honestly not going for that, I just want to know what the dev's have to say now that the event is over and those of us that "kept at it" have nothing to show for our hard work.

This was posted in another thread NOT to spam the forums but for an honest answer, I followed the advice of Bornakk and it was incorrect, what happens now?

!EDIT!

I am not saying that something should be given for nothing, there should be a lot of work and effort involved in all the World Events, but the achievements should focus on the Event and not the random rolls.

MORE EDIT!

This post is NOT about making this EVENT or ANY EVENT easier, it is NOT about having titles/rewards handed out for showing up. It IS about ANY event being based mainly off of random drops, rather then quests/tasks that focus on the event.

I am pointing out that in the case of time restricted events a random number generator can be unbalanced,

EDIT AGAIN!

Please before you post something along the line of "if you don't like it quit, enough people do that blizz will change".

That isn't how the feedback process works, Bornakk replied to me, read his post, he admitted that it is possible to be beaten by the RNG, he also said they welcome all feedback, and will consider options.

That is why this post is here for addressing concerns and providing feedback. Feedback is how the game is changed everything from nerfs, buffs, new races added, etc. this is the process on how those decisions come to be be made, feedback from the consumer.

Feedback is the FIRST step before you decide to stop using a product, it lets the customer know if the company values them as a customer, to stop using a product without speaking to the company beforehand solves nothing, and improves nothing.

I don't understand the part where you blame Blizzard for not getting runs.

I did not blame blizz for not getting runs, I got a run every day, some players suggested that I pay people for their summons, I was saying that I could not afford to do that.

You ran every day.

You still did not get the achievment.

I believe he said "most likely" You are one of the people who got the "bad luck" he speaks of.

Good luck next year.

i think we have to learn that not every character was destined to be "The Hallowed" by this year.
my Two level 80 mains, both had it from last year, so they just trick or treated for chances at unique masks, and did horseman for mount. So i focused on getting the title on as many of my alts as i could.
After fairly obsessive trick or treating, daily fire quests, and at least enough horseman runs to get the kill credit, i wound up with the following results:
Characters that got title:
75 Paladin, 60 Hunter, 60 Priest, 38 Mage, 38 Druid

Characters that didn't get title:
66Death Knight, 37 Rogue, 37 Warlock

Obviously i would have liked the title on my death knight, but i was unfortunate and never saw the pet on it. got everything else needed for achievement on that character too. Oh well. I shall get it next year, probably.

The fact remains that i got 5/8 characters i was trying to get the title on the title. And i am more happy with that, than disappointed of the 3 that didn't get it.

Strange, I don't show you having any Hallow's End achievements at all. Is that in error or are you talking about a different toon?

This is my forum posting toon as I have an agreement with my Guild to not post on my main, it's a long story no I won't go into it, even if no one believes me, there are honest people online, though I do understand why people don't think so.

You don't need to go into it, was just trying to see if I could answer why you might not have gotten it. Probability does say some people won't get them, I suppose.

I rotated through my 10 toons, almost every hour, almost every day. Some got 2 or 3 helms, but no squashling. Some got 2 squashlings, but no helm. Doesn't really matter to me, hopefully I can do it again next year (and I'll have at leat one more that can summon the Horseman).

I never did see that reigns drop, but again maybe next year (or the year after).

I think the Horseman should have one 100% drop.

I ended up paying people 50g per summon on the last day, and I got in eight more HH attempts, but still no squashling even dropped.

I had all but given up, though I still had one last trick or treat cooldown available at 11:56pm server time (less than 3 minutes before the event ended). My 10:56pm trick or treat was a trick, depressingly turning me in to a cat.

I did my final trick or treat, and, without any hope at all, I opened the bag. I got my stupid squashling at almost the last possible minute.

Am I happy that I got it? Yes.

Was it worth the torture of logging in from work several times, risking my sanity in the process? No.

I think the feeling I have right now is the sort of semi-euphoria one feels after a severe migraine headache finally subsides. I wouldn't want to do it again...

I just want to know if I can trade my 7 plate helms for one stupid mount.

But seriously, 150+ summons later... I vow to never do another annoying blizzard holiday event that has anything to do with luck drops.

Last time I checked, games were intended to be fun, not frustrating. I guess someone in charge of these events missed that memo. They are vanity items... Why do they HAVE to be rare?

At this point we have no plans to make any changes to event or the achievements involved in it. I wouldn't say my advice was incorrect as I know a lot of people who got the achievements complete since I posted, but yes, the randomness can win sometimes. We welcome your feedback and will consider making changes for next year.

But is that fair, though? I got my achievement in about a week without even stressing about it, and some other people who actually put effort into it never got it. That's rather... mean, don't you think? It's not like they didn't work for the achievement, so it can't fall in the "people are lazy and want everything handed to them" category. It's a bit of a shame that after trying their best, the only thing you can tell these people is "Well, luck wasn't on your side, try again in a year while other lucky, lazy people wave their reward in your face".

Please consider making the holiday events more likely to reward hard work (rather than being completely luck-based).

I'm sure some sort of token system (like the original Brewfest) would be appreciated by those of us that killed the Headless Horseman over a hundred times and wound up with nothing to show for it.
