I am saying it is a mistake to ever meet someone you assume there is nothing to learn from. Fox didn't take advantage of Bear, and actually helped feed Bear - there was an exchange. In the end they both helped each other.

In game, it is easy to not help people because we don't see what reward it would have (would you run someone through gnomer for 3g?)... but there can be a lot of reward, if you are able to see it, or the person you are helping is able to.

Edit: Also thanks Auravale, I do remember you :)

I read OP as

"Yeah, I'm so awesome because I totally knew how to do everything in the world without being taught or starting somewhere."

I read his post as

"Anyone who doesn't know how to do things without first being taught is a lower class of people and will be labeled as such."

I always thought WOW is the MMO of choice for Noob's. The other MMO's you have to actually do stuff.

I know I should probably not respond to this, but I'm going to.

Having played the majority of WoW's contemporaries, the only difference I find between WoW and (L2/WAR/Aion/etc.) is that WoW is fun, imaginative, features responsive controls (no ui lag), and has the most massive and open-ended world I've ever explored. The others are more linear, feature more brutal grinds (L2 all, WAR's RR grind, Aion anything past level 25 or so).

So, if "doing stuff" means "being miserable" and being miserable is what you're after, then okay: I agree with you; the other mmo's are better.

Well, like it or not, we're classified as Noob's cause we like WOW, I was not bashing WOW, it's fun, I'm still playing it since 05', but it is super easy too play.

If I wouldn't have had a friend get me into the game and help me along until I made new in-game friends, I probably wouldn't have played long.

I have gotten a couple of other people to try the game, but after 10 days of being scorned, ridiculed, laughed at and cursed every time they asked a question or did something wrong, they decided it wasn't worth it.

So, your friend brought you in, showed the ways of the wild and let you go on your merry way. In return, you invite people in and drop them in the middle of the jungle naked and alone?

GO YOU!!!!

Ah, yes, we're classified as noobs, by Them.

I'm not too worried about them.

And, it doesn't seem super easy to me when I've got two or three Horde homing in me and I've go to try to use a trap on a one, disengage downhill from a second, and sic my pet on the third just to buy enough time to attempt to survive another moment. :)

Edit: Good to be remembered, Snowfow, and you're most welcome. :)

New players mean more people for you to play alongside. Changes that make being a new player a more friendly undertaking make it easier for you to introduce it to friends and family that may have been reticent to try it before. These are good things. Also, making things a bit more friendly for leveling makes the creation of new characters easier on experienced World of Warcraft players and returning World of Warcraft players alike.

So, while you dubbed this "Incoming: WoW Noobs", remember everyone was a "noob" once in their life and an influx of new people as well as keeping things interesting for you and other current players is a good thing.

Right now, it may seem a little empty in the starting areas because many people either create a new character and move quickly on (due to prior experience of leveling a character or a desire to catch up with friends quickly (with their help)) or many others are spending a lot of time at the upper levels taking on the challenges there.

I would appreciate it if you all could help do a little dusting, vacuum under the couches, and pick up your areas so that we can properly welcome any new players to our community. Also be sure to straighten yourself up a little so you look presentable. Friendly welcoming smiles only please! ;)

Also, there's no telling the "caliber" of any new players since it is all based on the individual. Fresh faces, with fresh insights to supplement the great community we have (yeah, I still think it's pretty great despite what some may say) is fantastic.

Well now I'm curious about two things.

First, being a noob myself (feel free to armory me -- yes, this is my main!), I was unaware until making this post that "noob" is a derogatory word. I guess I should have said "newcomers."

Second, had I said "newcomers" I wonder how the responses to my OP would have been different.

Aside from that, my only reason for making this post was conveyed most in the last two sentences of it and not in using the third word of the title.

The thing about this story is, while it is good (and involved far less stinging than the Fox helping the Scorpion over the river), is that when it comes to Noobs in WoW, I am both as strong as the Bear and as smart as the Fox.

But I DOOOOO need someone to labor tirelessly at bringing tedious baubles like copper ore to the AH for when I want to level jewelcrafting, and drench my blade in their blood as I absorb HKs from their very souls in BGs, and Noobs seem fit to do both these things.

Very well. They may be allowed to live after all. (Well, metaphorically, as they will NOT be allowed to live in regards to that HK farming part.)

Light, grant me the power of Retribution to change the things I can, the unwillingness to accept the things I can't, and the inability to tell the difference!

No, I told some people I played the game and liked it. Actually I tell a lot of people I play the game and like it.

Some of them decieded to try the trial version. I had no idea they were going to, or even what server the created their characters on.

If I actively recruited someone, of course I would take time to help them.

Edit: They also never even made it to the jungle :)

There are subtle differences in the way the term is used.

Generally a "noob" is someone with little skill. An alternate spelling of this is "newb".

A "newbie" is just someone new to the game.

Had you said "newcomers" it might have come off a little different, it's true. ;)

I knew what you were getting at but thought I'd head off the negative that can come from some word choices you made in your post.
