I wonder how long it will take the mouth-breathers to realize that at the end of a run where 5 blues were force de'd by rolls since I'm an enchanter they are left with 0 shards instead of the 1 per person that we get now when I de after each boss and hand the shard to one group mate then the next then the next.

It shouldn't take to many runs for them to see one person walking off with 4 of the 5 shards since its a ROLL SYSTEM after a run before they realize that perhaps this idea isnt exactly the best. At the moment they are hiding behind calling us greedy which is silly because we all split everything now anyway. Soon enough though the veil will be lifted and they will be complaining.

Not going to comment about politics too much, but I'm going to make another in-game parallel.

Imagine you're a blacksmith. What if Blizzard determined that inside instances, all titansteel bars were worth 75g, all saronite bars worth 2g, etc. etc. Then when you went LFG, you were put in a party, where all the sudden you lose mats out of your bags, they're replaced with undervalued currency, and someone in your party gets a brand new titansteel destroyer? This may sound like a stretch, but this is exactly what's happening. By taking manners, etiquette and effort out of the equation, a lot more mats are going to be available on the market, and the cost of enchants and materials are going to drop considerably. Not to mention you are robbing the enchanter of their free will to do business or to hold out.

There are counter arguments to what I'm saying however:
First and foremost: enchanters are not going to be getting less mats out of this. Not at all. They're going to have the same chance at winning an epic/blue/green as before, and the same chance at getting the mats from it.

Second: Even though the price of mats is dropping, it does not subsequently follow that the profit margins will drop.

To counter-argue that second counterargument: on my enchanter, I do not buy or sell mats, I only make scrolls and sell the scrolls. For me, the investment is non-monetary, and the profit I will make out of that investment will decrease, while the investment does not.

I think the biggest problem people have is not really the practical view of "oh no I'm losing money" but rather "Someone else is benefiting from MY hard work, and I don't have a choice". This is absolutely true.. even though they're not really being harmed by it so much, it's not entirely "fair".

Q u o t e:
Browsing the WoW general forums the past couple days, i have noticed more and more about the *****storm call the auto-DE feature coming in 3.3. Enchanters feel that, with this change, they will start to lose out on shards, and that the other people that are grouped with them are getting the benefit of their hard earned profession without their say.

The supporters of this change think that it is for the good of the masses, and that overall it will make things more simpler and better for everyone. So what if some enchanters will lose out on the shards? Or that enchanters will be forced to use their profession in cross-realm groups. In the end it helps out more people and makes things similar. The masses > the minority.

This just strikes me as very similar to the real world and politics. On one side, we have the enchanters, who think that their profession, which they spent gold and time on leveling up and using, should not to be used for the benefit of others without the enchanter's say, and that while everyone else is gaining a benefit of the enchanter being there, the enchanter gains no other such benefit from the other group members being there. The next time you are in a group and say on of the dps is a miner and mines a titanium ore, tell him that everyone of the group members gets to roll on the ore and gems/crystalized elements that were in the node. See what kind of reaction you get. Thats what enchanters feel. These people to me i think would lean more towards being a republican on issues, and being more conservative.

Then we have the others, who think that this change will be better for everyone, and will make things much more simpler then rolling for shards at the end. This new system would also eliminate cross-realm shard ninjas, which would run rampent if the old way was still in place. The change would be for the better of the community, and since most people are NOT enchanters then the majority would end up benefiting more with this change. And lets face it, blizzard is a company and keeping the majority happy and making changes for simpler and more efficient systems for the masses is their best bet. These people strike me as being more Democratic, and would lean more liberal on other issues.

just thought i'd like to share some of my observations with y'all, and see if anyone else kinda sees this trend.

so TL;DR Enchanters who don't want the change= republicans, and the people who love the change =Democrats.

Just something i'd like to take a tally on, see if i might be right. or retarded. One of the two.

It's an interesting though useless observation which will not incite constructive discussion about the change itself. Please leave real-world politics to the real world.

I'm glad I got my suit dry-cleaned before the riots started...
