You can emphasize with caps. However, when you emphasize an entire sentence or post title... THEN ALL YOU ARE DOING IS YELLING!

I saw Magni punt a Blood Elf into the Great Forge once. It was the coolest thing I'd ever seen. Needless to say, all the weapons produced that day were FABULOUS.

1) I'd love to remain neutral but truly, I think GC has a point. Caps can be abrasive and rude, and serious misspelling can make responding very difficult.

2) Why is this in the Healer's forum? I'm just curious. :)

Maybe we should make everyone be an MVP for a day before they can post :).

Q u o t e:
In general, I'm constantly getting flamed for behavior unbecoming an MVP, so to hear you call me a teacher's pet is very reassuring.

Teacher's Pet is a badge of honor IMHO.

Your way is not the only way. Its probably not even the best way.
This is a game we play for fun. Or at least thats why I play.

The original (locked) thread was posted in this forum. Something about healers and the new x-realm LFG system, or something. It was really hard to read, so I didn't bother. You can try to figure it out yourself, if you like.

I looked at the original thread… and to be honest, I’ve seen a lot worse posted here, and a lot worse threads allowed to fill to the post cap.

I personally think that GC should have exorcised a little more professionalism, but I am not his boss, nor am I responsible for his behavior or attitude.

I’m just his customer.

With that last thought, I have to admit that I have been very pleased with the product and service I am paying Blizzard for. Also, the locking or not locking of that thread and the comment made did nothing to impact on my life or my enjoyment of the game.

In other words, I can’t say I really care.

However, there is a reason certain rules are usually enforced with employees who deal with the public, and most definitely enforced when dealing with your client base.

If Ghostcrawler actually worked a real job for a real company, this kind of thing would not be tolerated. Major corporations do not respond to angry letters from their clients with the same level of sarcasm. Retail employees do not dare reply to an angry customer with that kind of disdain and dismissal. If someone in a department store gets out of line, they are quietly and quickly removed.

But it is not my company, or my job, that is at stake here. I don’t care what you guys do or how you run it. Just as long as the development for Cataclysm goes ahead and the servers are all up, I’ll be happy.

:)

Attacking someone cause they cant spell... sounds like High School all over again. Of coarse your going to agree with the blue cause they nominated you teachers pet. He could have at least edited the post and un capsed it. Ghostcrawler is just as bad as Tseric for that post.

OR.... OR.... or... we could take it upon ourselves and read, understand, and execute proper forum etiquette BEFORE posting Mr. Alt. If someone is going to make a thread in all caps with the hope that it will give a stupid topic a few extra looks, then it deserves to be locked. The fact it even got a blue response should make the poster happy because if I was moderator, you could have the most beautiful post ever, but if you make the title in all caps, I'd lock that poop and delete it.

Well, the fact that other "worse" threads have been on these forums is upto the regular forum moderators to work with. GC is a developer that graces these forums with his presence once in a while. While doing that he might moderate here and there (which is awesome imo). So what might get by through the regular forum moderators might not get through when GC is walking the halls.

Actually, (and perhaps more accurately), GC has mentioned that he has left some of the less then questionable threads go because the discussion generated from them was beneficial, even if the original post was not.

Perhaps his patience today is less then usual?

I'm not a big fan of the head on a pike thing to be totally honest.

Our moderators ban and delete just a ton of inappropriate posts all the time. You should consider yourself lucky that you don't have to read a lot of that junk because they usually get to it quickly. My job isn't forum moderation nor is it something I am particularly interested in doing. But when I see just a ton of posts from the mindset of "I can say whatever I want on these forums because it's the internet and nobody knows who I am" I figure it can't hurt to gently and perhaps humorously remind our readers that this is not the Wild West where anything goes and Blizzard just has to suck it up and take it. These are our forums. We make the rules. They're not particularly harsh rules....

I have never locked a thread because someone disagreed with a design decision. It's always because someone got out of line. We're pretty tolerant of misspellings and completely understand that a lot of our posters might not speak English as a first language. Typically however folks posting in caps with lots of l33t speak are just trying to express their indignation or otherwise draw extra attention to their post, which is not a tactic we want to encourage.

Now I said I was going to post less about moderation, so forgive me if I don't follow this up. Snowfox is doing a fine job. :)

Pretty much it's just a issue of QQ more op. If you can't spell and you speak english as your first language. Read up on some english books and read more books in general. You will find that reading is an excellent way to improve ones' vocabulary and spelling.

I You either agree with this despicable behavior or not, but the bottom line is we pay you for this not the other way around.

You pay Blizzard for a lot of things. First you pay for the license keys to allow your account to participate in the game. Then you pay monthly fees for the server usage and maintenance associated, as well as development that occurs between expansion. You pay fees everytime you server/faction/name/race change because that takes Blizzard resources.

You do not pay them to address your complaints on the forums. You do not pay them to change the game the way you see it. You do not pay them to put up with uncalled for insults and slander.

If their product is not being developed the way you see it, stop paying for it. What would you do if it were any other company? Would you rage at Crest because you don't like the taste of their toothpaste? No. You would simply buy another brand. Play another game if you don't like this one. Blizzard (and Crest for that matter) have too many customers to cater to your every whim.

Q u o t e:
I just read a topic about healers getting gear choices and it was responded to by blizz (Ghostcrawler) and since the topic was locked I will provide this

Posters should spell correctly and avoid using all CAPS. ......Ghostcrawler

Now blizz you can lock me if you want but Ghostcrawler's response is completely inappropriate. I find this to be a direct shot at someone and if this is the kind of service I can expect from posting then I hope you Ghostcrawler look again at what your stated role is with blizzard. I have found many topics in which you mispelled and edited later yet no one has brought those out to humiliate you and that is exactly what happened here.

This could have been handled privately for the issue at hand and not publicly to humiliate someone because you (Ghostcrawler) do not like the topic regardless if it was posted in the wrong forum. It is disturbing to think I pay money for your service of what I consider a great game, and that is what it is a game, only to be ridiculed for using a shorthand version of posting. You either agree with this despicable behavior or not, but the bottom line is we pay you for this not the other way around. Ghostcrawler I have seen your posts teeter ever so close to the line and I think you just crossed it.
