If he doesn't know how to stay out of fire, he still dies in 3 seconds. Whereas the "other" player who may be lesser geared and knows how to stay out of fire lasts the entire fight and actually contributes to the kill instead of eating dirt for most of it.

why? no reason at all. some people play the game for fun and still want to see a sliver of endgame type stuff. when a guild has 140 lvl 80s and many are geared in a mix of ToGC 10, ToC25, and ToGC 25 gear how is it bad to pull someone along from time to time?

wow-heroes says you are ready for ToC10 with 2200 GS...what if everyone else in raid is grossly overgeared for that content. does it even matter then? the goal is a successful raid and it was.

You didn't read his post. There is no other player. Same player, different gear. Better gear = better performance by same player.

Exactly, but you give it to the guy who didn't suck and suddenly you've got drama on your hands. Better to just not invite the guy who's damage is basically worthless.

Depends. Was the person doing 2k dps doing 2k because he was limited on gear? Was he doing other things? Or did he just have no idea what he was doing?

My warrior has a gs of like 3180 (lolol), but I ran a heroic toc and during p2 BK and noticed the AotD was heading for the healer so I intervened him and piercing howled the adds and he was able to run away.

Did that contribute to my dps? No. Did it save a wipe? very possible.

Dps isn't the only thing.

Wow heroes uses a different scoring methodology than the add on. There’s a big difference between having a 2100 GS on wow heroes and a 2100 on the addon. As far as being carried through a raid; if it's being done by your guild that's fine but being carried in pugs is a different story.

I'm all for gear score. You have 2 strangers on your hands. You will always pick the guy who has the better gear score, unless the other guy has decent gear but can prove he has done the fights first hand. Either way, pull at least 4k DPS in reg toc and you'll be ok in my book.

There's no way to determine the skill but players are more likely to have the skills required to complete the instance if they've already obtained gear from it.

Hard to prove by just using gearscore.

The player could have die in the 1st minute of every fight but was the only Elemantal sham (or whatever) in the raid and got all the revelant drops because no else rolled or passed on items.

My GearScore goes up when I equip my PvP trinket in place of my Darkmoon Card: Greatness.
