I am ashamed that my monthly payment to blizzard goes to something like this.

I wish they would spend their time, energy, people on something I care about, like enhancing the content of the game.

Been on the PTR lately? There's just a little bit of enhanced content there, I think. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that they spent time, energy, and people to develop that content.

Ordered both! I'm really excited about this as a pet collector. I know some people are probably pissed that Blizzard is charging for these but I really don't mind paying. Minipets make the game so much more fun for me.

Q u o t e:

In addition, technically our continued monthly subscriptions are already supposed to pay for all the new content in the game, as part of the relatively unspoken agreement between customer and company.

Incorrect, they pay for the content related to the expansion itself (i.e. patches). They do not pay for extra features of the game, that are not required for gameplay, at all, or for content beyond the expansion itself.

In fact..my understanding was the subscription pays for maintenance...the price of the expansion itself "pays" for the content. On both a profit margin is added, of which a portion is dedicated to the development of newer content that is sold later.

Note: development does not mean you get it....you buy a car, and the money goes to the company, the company develops a newer car...you don't get the newer car, do you?

Have you heard about patch 3.3 coming soon? This patch will be jam-packed with content for all play styles. :)

Is this going to be the end of new in-game pets? Will new pets only be available through purchase with the "pet store"? Is this why the macabre marionette wasn't a "real" pet?

You mean like that patch that brought in ToC without you paying a dime for an expansion? How about the 3.3 patch coming up with ICC?

Can you disable it for him? Obviously he is ashamed of what you do, so we shouldn't add to his burden.

The difference is that there's an unspoken understanding that Blizz will continue to develop the game. Yes, when they get around to expansions, we'll need to cough up more for the large leap in content, but when we purchased WotLK, we didn't purchase it expecting to get the content available at release and nothing more. Blizz has established a pattern of adding additional content over time each expansions, and their customers expect a continuation of that pattern. Now they are charging extra for content that is far far less encompassing than an expansion, and in fact they are charging a good fifth of the price of an expansion for it as well.

Where do you think your money goes? Every cent you give to Blizzard goes to Blizzard. You've never been saving the world by paying 15 bucks a month to play a game. If that fills you with self-loathing, I'm not sure what to tell you.

No, this does not mean that all future non-combat pets will be available strictly through the Pet Store.

Your argument is that we bought WotLK with the expectation of getting a Lil KT and a Pandaren Monk vanity pet without any additional cost other then subscription fees.

When really, the expectation was 2 or more "raid" tiers worth of content, Naxxramas for 1, and Arthas for 2, and an unspoken number in between.

I wouldn't think so, they already have pets that you pay real money for via the card game. But that hasn't stopped them from developing pets that you can get inside the game. I doubt that this will cause Blizzard to stop creating free in-game pets that you can get via actually playing the game. They'd just upset too many people if they only provided pets exclusively for real money, myself included.

Even if you personally think the pet-store is a bad idea. Your job depends on saying something positive.

Patch 3.3 sounds great thus far. But this has nothing to do with the topic at hand. WTB a Blue's honest thoughts about how much crap we'll see added to this store over the next year or so.

MMOs do not kill each other. They evolve until they lose sight of what made them great in the first place; and eventually kill themselves.

ok so, i have a Battlenet with 2 accounts on it, paid for both pets, and it is only letting me select ONE account to get the pets.
I thought all accounts associated with the one Battlenet account got the pet??
