Blizzard, you do realize that "Hallows end" and "halloween" mean the COMPLETE opposite, right?
(Halloween means hallow's eve, the day before All Saints Day)
Its like confusing New years eve and new years day

even if you ARE talking about the forsaken's break from the scourge, ur still calling it
"the end of Something holy"

and so whats with the title?
Hallowed means:
–adjective
regarded as holy; venerated; sacred: Hallowed be Thy name

your a Holy man because you partake in nasty prankster shenanigans?

Do the initiation to becoming a monk ALSO involve stink-bombs?

You are different.

Obviously that means I'm better, and have a right to belittle you and your ways.

You answered yourself about the title there.

'Venerated' does not necessarily mean 'holy'.

I'm going to pull something out of my butt.

There once was a saint. He was driven mad, and became the horseman. You put his soul to rest by killing him.

Saints are hallowed, or Holy. When the saint became the horseman, his "Hallowness" was ended.

Also, other countries play this game, as do many religions. It's not like the holidays aren't blatantly obvious as to what they are supposed to be, but Azeroth is not the US. There is no Jesus, or God, or Allah, or Buddha, or Sun gods, only Elune, The light, The Titans and the Burning Leigon.

...yes? Nowhere in there is 'holy' a requirement.

'Hallowed' or 'Venerated' soldiers comes to mind. Doesn't mean they're holy at all; just means people look up to them with a touch of awe and respect.

Keep in mind that the culture that has developed in the Forsaken is very much about mockery and loathing. They hate what they've become, and thus themselves. They hate the humans for hating them, and for having what was taken from them. They can't feel justified in their hatred of the humans, which intensifies that hatred and fuels their self loathing. They very frequently take things that were dear to them in life and twist them into mockeries of what they were for those reasons, so an ironically named holy day would not be out of the question for them.

Looking through the definitions, there seems to be plenty of room for Hallows End to mean making or setting apart the end as being holy. I guess you didn't think of the word End as being a noun. You can end something and something can be the end.

I think it is incorrect to assume "The end of something holy" when you can just as easily assume "The end that is holy," which has far different implications and could mean a varied amount of fitting explanations.

It's correct British or Canadian English to spell it with the e. Crazy Americans spelling it without the e, just like spelling armour without the u.
