Q u o t e:
Sure 1-2 hours sounds like plenty of time to run a few heroics, but that doesnt take into account the time needed to get into the groups.

Guild runs usually take up to an hour to get formed and pugs are a complete no go. Ive yet to find a pug that will let a fresh green geared 80 with ZERO experience in the instance into the group.

What are you trying to pug? There are plenty of normal instances where that isn't an issue. And it doesn't take many blues (even crafted and AH items) before folks don't care. And I fully expect a lot more pug slots being available after the 3.3 patch goes live.

But, as others have asked ... are you having fun? Don't pay $15/month to play if you're not having fun. You can always come back later if you find you have more time/miss it.

I have five 80's.
I can count the times I have been in VOA on one hand, and that was when there was just one boss.
I can count the times I have been in a legitimate raid (pug) on one hand, and I have never actually finished an entire raid dungeon. The most I have ever done is two wings of Naxx (10 man).

I have done lots of heroics, mostly pug ones.
Most of my 80's have at least two thirds of their gear (if not more) at iLevel 200 or higher, but not a single one has the "Epic" achievement. Most of that gear was obtained with honor points and Wintergrasp marks, some with emblems from heroics.

I still enjoy this game.

The decision to stay or quit is totally up to you.

If you want to be heard, don't give them a reason to shut you down.

I'm just curious what good teh phat purps would be anyway, for someone who never instances.

Have you fallen into the trap of evaluating your "fun" by your gear, and only your gear?

Here's the deal.

I get to play about 1-2 hours a day. Because of this i've yet to do a single instance, ive got pretty craptastic gear and really no hope of getting anything better besides maybe pvp honor gear.

With my time limit on playing I cant get into any guild runs because they take too long to get started and I definitely cant do pug runs with my crappy gear.

Should I go ahead and quit since having a lvl 80 in quest greens is about as good as its going to get?

(used to do high end raiding back in vanilla, but had to quit right after TBC came out)

I would say yes.

I think OP is greatly overexaggerating the difficulty of getting into a heroic PUG. I've pugged literally hundreds of heroics and have carried plenty of fresh 80's doing 800 dps. Heroics give access to great gear now, and they are really easy.

Just bite the bullet and start running some heroics. Do the tournament daillies too to get some epics.

You're worried about not getting on enough? last time i played, it was 2 weeks ago and before that 2 months, my dad pays for my acc though so i'm not worried, I'm only just installing the patches now x.x
The fact that i've had to upload and then uninstall 6 times because of lack of space or computer can't handle and then o onto the next computer is frustrasting enough to want to quit, and you're worried about a mesely 1-2 hours a day on wow? Most people have it worse especially the parentally controlled 13 yr olds buddy, you can still have fun, wow isn't all about maintaining your gear status or solely about raiding,

If you have to ask then no answer would suffice.

Wrong. He is asking for some advice to what he can do with his 1-2 a day. Is there a chance to even get any good gear at all. Enjoy content that suits his/her time spent playing wow.

My answer is give it up. 1-2 hours and you won't get anywhere fast. Blizzard has tried to make it easier to get epics with ToC 5 mans, but if you don't do over 5K dps or have a gearscore of 4K no one will help you out by letting you join a run of the normal let alone the heroic.

If your not able to raid, no raiding guild will let you join even if you stay on their lowest rank. That's why I'm not guild. WAAAAYYYY to many dramas. Seems a lot like work that a social time playing a game with others.

Only other option is you try for achievements you can solo or farm. /yawn. Grinding out rep is not fun. Especially if you have to do hours upon hours just to go from honored to revered.

This game is designed for those who can spend a lot of time their parents basement playing a computer game or those with anti-social personalities.

No... on my server you can spend up to 4 hours trying to do some heroics especially if it's Occ and it's not the daily.

That's why there is cross realm LFG coming. :D

there's all sorts of things you can do:

eg.
if you liked the vanilla instances
try lfg strat or scholo
some high 50's will go
and, even in your greens, you'll kick @$$

I only get to play on average about 1-2 hours a day and there is plenty of stuff to do... Here is what I do:

1) Use LFG and queue up for the daily heroic, TOC, and HTOC
2) Start my daily quests: I did Oracles until revered for the egg and then Argent Tournament (for crusader title and heirloom gear)

This will keep you plenty busy and provide quick easy upgrades until 3.3 comes out. Then with 3.3 they will have the new lfg tool and cross realm groups. Once that is out you will quickly and easily be able to pick up groups for instances in no time (if the predations are correct).

So I would say yes keep playing...

First and foremost, this is definitely an important question to ask yourself:

Q u o t e:
Are you having fun?

I will say though that the majority of my play sessions are not longer than 1-2 hours in a single day. There are usually at least 1-2 days a week I don't play at all; and 1-2 days a week I play for 3 hours in one sitting (raid nights).

It's very possible to run 2-3 Heroic instances in a 2-hour setting (even in your gear) and get some very good upgrades in a relatively short while.

If you're that concerned that your gear is not good enough to even find pick-up groups, there are several good quest and reputation rewards available in Icecrown and Storm Peaks which do not require assistance from others and can be obtained in a reasonable amount of time. There are also some good crafted or Bind-on-Equip items out there that can be created or purchased. There are so many ways these days to catch up to the pack, so to speak.

I'm glad I got my suit dry-cleaned before the riots started...

If you don't have time or money to gear that character, create an alt with your 1-2 hours a day - it will level fast - if you haven't done any horde quests here's a time...

He's level two. What are you basing that on?

MMOs do not kill each other. They evolve until they lose sight of what made them great in the first place; and eventually kill themselves.

I was in the same position not that long ago. I stopped playing for a while and did some other real-ilfe stuff until I had some extra time. I never really had that much extra time, and still don't. I ended up just doing a lot of pvp (BG and open world) since it's well-suited to getting up and walking away. I was able to gear out my rogue pretty easily with nice PvP gear. I did a lot of fishing/cooking and other achievements that were fun.

I think the green dino hit on something very important, if it's not fun stop playing. I'll also just interject that it is possible to have fun in this game without raiding and I've had great success doing the daily heroics in PUGs on both of my other 80 mains. They take about 2-5min to start up and about 30min to finish so less than an hour. 15 dailies and you get tier 9 shoulders or hands. That's not bad at all.

if what the OP says is true...

I doubt he's having fun... playing mmo on that sort of time line is very hard to enjoy.... especially without the "I'm gonna find ways to maximize my time for profit" mentality.

If you are playing soo little a week, and expect to compare to people who spend 20x your play amount.... I'd give up now, it'll never happen.

1) Weekdays / nights or including weekends?
2) Ok... any crafter can make you blue and some purple gear. Voila! upgrades! No work needed!
3) Emblem gear is purple. You have hope and it doesn't even require a raid. There's gear for Tournament seals. Those are very easy quests to do.
4) I understand. I'm working on a "Ultra-Casual" Guild mission statement with a 2-hour raid limit. But I don't think raiding is your issue.
5) Get better crafted gear and gear from tourny seals and then start doing PuG runs. You can buy the crafted gear for gold and you can do dailies to get the gold

It only takes about 1 - 1.5 hours to do your 25 dailies and you can get like 300 gold doing that. That will buy you your crafted gear to do Heroics.

Include in these dailies reputation dalies to get rep rewards and start upgrading with Purple rep gear.

You either don't know these parts of the game or you're really stretching to have something to whine about.
