Q u o t e:
If they had the same rewards then that MAY be a valid argument. As it is I'd have to ditch a raid to do the tourney, as would anyone else in my guild that wanted to do it. Not healthy!
The tournament in Stranglethorn has been there for quite awhile now so the one in Northrend will probably be sitting there and waiting for you to be ready.

Q u o t e:
We wanted to build on the fishing tournament idea with the Northrend Fishing Derby but also make it available at a time that is very different from the original one so hopefully one or the other is more accessible to more people.
If blizzard wants to make this truelly accessible to more people DONT make it during raid primetime.
Solution: Switch it to friday or saturday, most people DO NOT raid on those days.

if only the stranglethorn one didn't have glitched fishing pools that are halfway into the ground... hmm.

This one time, I was in a group with a shaman. He had pretty good gear and he was happy with his class. I was like LOL LET'S CHANGE THAT.

Another possible solution i saw posted in another thread, is to make one of the fishing tournaments rotate,.. Meaning one week its Wednesday, the next week its on a thursday, next week friday, ... and so on, that way Its bound to be available for everyone at some point, similar to BG weekend rotations.. put it on the calendar and there will be little confusion!

How do the rewards that are offered a determining factor in what time the contest takes place? The STV contests is in the middle of the day on a weekend. The new Dragonblight contest is at prime time on a weekday. Those are about as polar opposites as times can be. If that's what their goal was (and it was) then Mission Accomplished.
The fact that you have to make a choice on whether to attend a raid or do the contest doesn't factor into their decision on when to have the contest. If you want to do this contests then do it. If raiding is more important then do that. They've given you the option and in the end you're the one that has to make the decision of which one to do.
All they've done is doubled the amount of chances people have to get the salty title. This is win for everyone.

Thank You!
I can never play on Sunday and could never participate before.

Q u o t e: Just to clarify--the "every Wednesday beginning at 8 PM" is relative to realm-time yea? (as the current STV fishing contest is) (and by realm-time I mean in-game time, not the realm's physical location time)
Yes.
You subvert the process of trying to disprove the argument when you attack the person making the argument instead of the argument itself. -Ghostcrawler

Q u o t e: The time for the new fishing tourney is completely unnaceptable from an oceanic point of view as it is smack in the middle of peak raiding time for us thanks a lot blizz

Thank you for scheduling this tourney at a completely different time from the STV tourney.
I'm sure there will be people upset that they can't attend both, but now most people will at least be able to participate in one or the other.
Looking forward to trying this out. =)

I think the whole point of the time of this additional quest is to appeal to those that simply don't play this game on the weekends.
There are a lot of players who have families and weekends are when they spend time together. You also have many individuals who are heavily involved with their church that would not be available on Sunday at all. Now they have a chance during a weekday to do the daily.
I have seen quite a few guilds that run 9pm-midnight. That time would still allow any raiders to do the fishing daily. If it is that much of a concern to you bring it up with your guild leader. I am sure there are other people in the guild who feel as you do. Even your guild leader might feel as you do.
Friday or Saturday nights is a terrible idea. It's no different than Sunday afternoon in my opinion. There are a ton of guilds who raid at those times as well, so you're going to have people complaining about that.
There is no "make everyone happy" solution. If your guild absolutely can't change your raiding time/day and you absolutely can't miss your Wednesday raids then yes, YOU will miss out on a BoA ring and a pair of boots. Is that the end of the world? Can't you move on past that and just say "oh well"? I've been doing that for years with the Sunday fishing daily.
I don't know how many times Ghostcrawler has to tell you before it sinks in that we only make over powered the abilities that benefit our own characters.
