Grats on an xp increasing ring being available to at most 52 people a year per server.

Yeah, missing out on that huge 5% increase really hurts.

The above post likely contains sarcasm. Stop reading and consult your physican if you experience any of the following: Nerdrage, excessive QQ, or the feeling that you're being slapped in the face.

This makes perfect sense. If they wanted to give heirlooms to everyone, without any effort, they might as well just make an auto-80 button. Heirlooms are meant to be a treat, not a staple.

See, the thing is, as I've pointed out. I have no issue working for my stuff, just pure rng fests like that with such huge restrictions (in this case, once a week) it just feels dumb for heirloom items. Give the people who want it some legendary or something, I don't really care. It just feels like an heirloom item is the wrong type of thing to target. I honestly suspect that most people who win this won't be avid levelers or even care about the ring and very well might take the boots instead. It feels like you're targetting a smaller minority with the ring than if you say...put an epic or something in it's place. (Which is why most people don't care, they don't want the ring and won't be phased if they don't get it). It just feels like the wrong way to go about heirlooms to me.

This is the problem though. It's in no way earning it imo. To the person above who said, you leveled fishing and you beat 52 other people, that's actually wrong, note the blue post: "Don't forget, in patch 3.3.0 you never catch trash from fishing pools, regardless of skill." Someone who had NEVER fished a day in their life in wow can come get it on their first cast and screw people who HAVE put in effort. That's NOT earning it.

To the person who compared it to baron's mount, I'd love if it was anyone who caught the shark, but the blue posts made it very clear it's winner only. So it's not something you can just farm. And as I mentioned above, theoretically, the same person could win every week and block the other people on the server from getting it. Anyone who thinks a single rng cast of fishing has earned this ring is insane and it's obvious you just don't care about leveling (which is fine) but if it was something you actually wanted, I'm sure you'd be kind of po'd too that it's just one randomly lucky person a week.

I highly doubt that someone with a level 1 fishing skill is going to be able to catch it on his first cast. Even with the "No trash in pools"

And, last time I checked, I can farm enough badges for a full set of heirloom gear faster than I can get fishing 1-450. But then again, Probably not everyone has access to a 15 minute heroic farming group.

This is a game. It's supposed to be fun. Why can't someone get something nice for doing something they enjoy? Why does it have to be "earned"?

That's the thing, I have nearly all the current heirloom items and max level fishing. As I mentioned above, I'm an avid leveler.

Q u o t e:

You're right. Far fewer people will be leveling with a 25% experience boost as compared to those leveling with a 20% experience boost with heirloom items. Given all of the scaling heirloom items in the game and the ways in which we've eased the leveling experience, we're okay with that.

It shouldn't be expected that every heirloom item with increased experience will be made readily available to every 80 player. This is a special ring for a few select lucky winners a month. Good luck!

Im happy to see content that will get me fishing more often. I already have the salty title and the turtle.... All I had to look forward to for fishing was the death fest that will be my run into iron forge to finish off old ironjaw...

Edit: any alliance who see a tauren in his skivvies with a chefs hat and a fishing pole... please have mercy!

I have no problem with people getting rewarded, as I said, for all I care, make the fishing thing give a legendary item, I'd just prefer they stayed away from heirlooms being released in ways like this.

The OP's attitude is one of the reasons this game is receiving complaints for being too easy. If everything is available and acquiring something unique through an interesting challenge does not appeal to you, then shut up. Maybe if you quit trying to complain your way towards the game as you see it and begin actually participating in the content as it exists you will not feel so upset about a blizzard decision.

There are hardly enough ways to distinguish ones avatar from another of the same class already--why would you want to take this one away?

It may be anecdotal to mention, but if your suggestion came to fruition, your thread would be replaced by a number of other threads complaining that an amazing legendary item is being made available for RNG to random, lucky fishers.

The truth is, when anything in the game is changed or added, there is cause for complaint and cause for celebration. So say we all.

I just wish it was at a different time, for me it's midnight, and in the middle of the week! How am I going to pull that off consistently enough for even a chance at the ring?

Ha, yeah, my attitude of everything being too easy. I completed Naxx pre-bc and Sunwell pre-3.0. (Since I know people will be like, yeah right, my mage's name was Skizzik when I killed Kel at 60, with Juggernaut of Doomhammer and my paladin's name was Razzia when I killed Kil'jaeden with Gentlemen's Club of Korgath at 70). I don't care about there being a unique item from fishing. I really don't. I care about heirlooms being accessible to the majority of players. I've leveled 6 80s and have another 3 70s. Things aren't just handed to me. I'm fine working for them. But no reason to limit people who love to level like I do by making the reward an heirloom. Keep thinking you know me though. People like you who just flame everyone are the people who ruined this game. It used to be fun when there was actually a sense of community.
