"Preparations for a fishing derby in Northrend are well underway by the Kalu’ak. Up for grabs - a new heirloom ring!"

Am I the only one who thinks this is rather moronic? Several people are likely to do this with the ease of fishing, plus lucrative dailies (if you're a little lucky) which probably has more fishers than ever in the game. The chances that any of them are alt-o-holics or even will ever use the ring isn't even guaranteed. Most will do it just for the achievement or just to see their name yelled when they win. It's a pure luckfest to even get, what it looks like will be the only boa ring in existence, as it's just the first person to catch a shark. Please please please choose a different prize. Heirloom items should be readily available for people like myself who want to chain level alts. I'm fine with the number of badges and seals I've spent to buy nearly every heirloom item in the game. Locking people like myself out of them for something like this seems really dumb.

You're not being locked out. It's completely your choice as to whether or not you want to take the time out to fish to try to get the ring.

I don't think I'd ever get tired of you right-clicking me.

And if you want to mix things up, you can even left-click too. ;)

Go go RNG for loot...

Cept in this case it'd probably be wiser to simply to transfer over to a low pop server to get it accomplished...

The ring probably just adds fishing, up to maybe adding as much on par with the fishing tourny pole.

Chance on hit stuns shouldn't be allowed in arenas. Real life doesn't have chances. Right, Impact Mages?

Umm...no? This isn't a take the time to fish kind of thing. This is the first person on each server, each week, gets this. Yay! So...AS MANY as 52 people a year get this per server. Then factor in repeat winners, which is almost guaranteed to happen. Let's be fair and say 40 unique winners a year. On a server which probably has what? 15k-20k people? No, not getting locked out at all.

Already doing the STV QQ, when you don't know how the derby even works?

Point of a PTR is to give feedback. Since they have only given us little tidbits to go on, I'm giving worst case scenario feedback so as to make sure it doesn't go live as such. Prove that my assumptions are wrong and I'll shut up. =)

Prove to me that the Loch Ness Monster does not exist.

and heirloom ring?

so if you need another alt it works out.

Unless they give me a legendary ring with a socket on it I won't fish.

I'm casual. Deal with it.

It's been said that you still get the reward for turning in the shark even if you're not the first person

The ring will likely be for Fishing, meant to help speed alt professions along. Likely will see a rise in not only fishing participation, but also more cooking, therefore more Fish Feasts.

Besides, an heirloom ring with experience is moronic. I'd rather have an heirloom shield with stats than ANOTHER exp+ item. I mean, the trinkets didn't do anything like boost exp anyway....

No matter that Blizzard does, there will always be crybabies. Fish for the ring, if you don't get it, sorry. Better luck next time.

You can please all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot please all the people all the time.

"It'll be really tough to win the fishing contest, so it's not fair that the reward is something I want. Please make it something worthless instead."

Does that really make sense? The contest will be difficult to win...so shouldn't the reward be something worthwhile?

You are so retarded it makes my brain hurt. If you think most servers have a population of 15-20 thousand people, you...just...wow.

They say you don't know you're on the short bus if you're at the front, but you're facing backwards. >_<

I never said the AVERAGE server, I spoke entirely of my server and just a ballpark estimate. You're an idiot for assuming. I'd take a safe bet my server at a bare minimum of 10k people. But yeah, you'd sure know who's on the short bus since you're obviously on it.

I hardly consider the first person to find a single drop and turn it in in dal a tough thing. It's just a luck thing. I don't care if I have to put work in to getting stuff, if so, that's fine. This has nothing to do with any skill level or anything else. It's just RNG.

Your logic completely fails. First of all, WOW is a game of rewards. I wish I could go buy my Relentless Weapon with Stone Keeper's Shards but unfortunately it isn't that simple. Obviously the developers want to introduce more heirloom items but make unique ways of getting them. It probably won't be too much longer before you see heirloom's popping up all over the place.

Most of the professions provide benefits to players who take the time to max them out, whether it be an increase in a stat or a unique trinket. Fishing falls a little short (imo) in player rewards so this makes perfect sense to me. If you truly do "chain level alts" then put some of the undoubtedly extensive time you invest in this game and level fishing. You could prob do it in a few days. Or you can continue to QQ I suppose....
