I've played with several different prot warriors and I'm curious if anyone else has run across this...

Everytime something goes wrong that involves the warrior there is a 3 to 10 min explaination over vent or raid chat about how the mechanics of it work and it's not their fault. This explaination happens regardless of if anyone mentions what happened during the fight. There is also a lot of talk about what others could do to make the warriors job easier. This continues on throughout the night until the end of the raid.

This has happened with every prot warrior I've ever played with minus maybe one and I'm curious if anyone else has run into this situation.

Explanations for Tank screw ups should not take ten minutes to explain. It should only a moment to either A) Own up to the mistake, or B) Explain to the DPS that they should be killing adds instead of the boss when they are told to kill the adds.

That tank was just bad.

None of the tanks have been bad. That's the thing. They make a simple mistake and I get a Warrior 101 session on how prot tanks work.. Not just me the whole vent and it's like omg just shut up. It's always always been a warrior.

I never take 10 min to explain something, in one sitting. I swear people aren't listening the first time when I explain something.

It sounds like you just have met a bunch of bad warrior tanks that feel they need to find a way to point the blame at someone else other then themselves.

DI the tank!

It only took me 2.5 minutes to explain, get over it already!

Why were you raiding with a level one gnome? I thought we had something here, and then I see this? I just don't feel I can trust you anymore, it's finished.

Warrior tanks are fine, aoe threat can be rough but overall they are fine. Sounds like you've run into a lot of sub-par prot warriors.

probably a bad tank but that goes without saying

Warriors are probably the most difficult of the 4 tanks to actually tank with.

I would say DKs are harder.

It's most likely because most dps think all tanks are the same (more specifically Paladin's - in which they can spam all cool-downs off the word go and the pally will still hold all the trash).

Warriors are much different tanks, one's that require time to grab aggro and build rage to maintain it (again unlike Pally's which can simply spend mana they already - usually - have). It's not that they are bad at it, it's just the mechanics of the class (nor am I knocking Paladin's, just pointing out the differences some people miss).

Granted it shouldn't take 10 minutes to explain.

"DPS please wait until you see TC & SW or I'll have the healer stop healing you - and hit the friggin' skull."

5-6 seconds tops. :)

Hey now, you see the reason for this whole post is to make sure everybody understands the complete situation. Nobody wants to repeat the same mistakes because it wasn't clear and wipe again because that is just bad. There can also be a lot of reasons why the mistake happened and finger pointing in the wrong direction, or just pointing in general, can lead to a lot of problems in the raid. If the DPS was attacking the wrong target or the tank just plain messed, making it clear can be a bit help to some people and maybe help bring the people zoning out back into the world of paying attention. Things could fall on the healer too depending on the situation, there are simply loads of issues that can come up and some people just want... to....

The only time I have seen warriors have to explain their classes mechanics is when dps want to open up the pulls with massive aoe without giving the warrior a couple of globals to build some threat.

I will say that Warriors seem to be the ones that normally do this. "It's not me, it's you. This is why. I'm hated. No one loves me."

Not to say I don't I have love for my warrior tank brethren. A paladin and a warrior working in tandem is a beautiful thing. <3

This. Otherwise it's usually "Sorry, not sure what happened" or "Sorry, that was my bad."

Dk tanking is easy. Need an AoE tank, go Frost. Need a boss tank, go Blood.

HEY.. this is the exact thing I was looking for when I came to the forums.

I tanked a lot in BC and really liked it.. It's was a lot of fun..

I just came back tot he game and now everything is AOE AOE AOE AOE OMG MORE AOE TANK.

that's what I have come across in lower level dungeons..

Are all raids like this? Is everything aoe tanking? It's not near as fun.
