But, as has been mentioned, there have been a plethora of threads about this.

Also, keep in mind this change is not 'live'. Things are subject to change - that's why there's a PTR. Rest assured the devs are being forwarded your concerns. It doesn't mean things will change for certain, but at least know they're keeping watch.

Nope, now you have a whole lot more annoyances to deal with, friend.

Because one guy with lucky dice can win them all. Most people want 1x each for each person. That's the way we've always done it.

So it becomes complicated, where we must now set up different annoyances to deal with:

"OK guys, I'm an enchanter so the d/e button will be there. To keep things fair, and to make it so we all get one shard, if you win a d/e roll on a shard, please pass on all further shards"

"Does that mean i have to pass on the abyss?"

"Yeah, what about the abyss?"

"OK, let's all /roll now to see who gets the abyss. That guy passes on all shards, and everyone else passes on the abyss"

"But I don't know you people, what's to keep you from rolling d/e on the abyss if you don't win the roll"

"Yeah!"

"OK, then, how about we pass after we win a shard, and we'll just say the abyss is up for grabs?"

"So I can win a shard and an abyss? Or nothing at all maybe? I liked it better when everyone got at least SOMETHING!"

"Well wtf is a better idea?"

Enjoy this "time saving" feature, heh. :-)

Well look at that you already laid out a loot system before the change even goes live, we can call it the "moteofmight method" and people will be kicked if they 'ninja'/ violate the clearly defined loot rules. You have solved your sample problem before it even occurs. Thanks Chief!

People complain about ninjas as it is. This just means there will be a new thing to ninja and get folks amped out about.

Or of course no matter what the badge gold incentive PUG very cautiously

Some items will automatically convert into the corresponding items of the opposite faction.
No items will be lost during the faction change process.

Well thank you for your support, but if you re-read it, you'll see that I didn't solve anything.

There is zero chance of implementing an "everyone walks away with 1x shard or 1x abyss" with the new system. Zero. That's makin' me sad, as an enchanter, because I like to make sure everyone gets a shard. Now, I can't do that. QQ.

Plus, I used to like doing things like "OK guys, 4 shards and an abyss. LOW ROLL gets the abyss woo!" Lots of laughs from people who roll 2 and go I WIN HAHAH!! Good times. Sadly, I can't do that anymore. Lame.

In response to the bolded part: by the time it comes down to ninja'ing an abyss, the run is over. What will kicking him accomplish, other than porting him to the nearest graveyard with an abyss in his bag?

You can't trade non-conjured items in cross-realm instances. The game prevents it.

That's the ENTIRE reason for the d/e button.

So, again. No way to make sure everyone gets 1x. Lucky dice guy can walk away with 100% of them.

no because after s/he gets the second shard hes gonna get booted. your hypothetical situation will not occur.

*IF* the party sets up convoluted loot rules at the beginning of the run. At face value, the d/e button implies that lucky dice rule the day, and you can walk out with 100% of the shards.

Therefore, my point stands:

"this makes it easier, now i don't have to tell people to pass and that i'll greed every run!" == untrue.

It doesn't make it easier. It makes it different. You still have to babble to other people about what to roll and what not to roll.

What's more, now people have to remember to not roll d/e after they won once. "OOPS lol"
And at the end, all 5 people can roll d/e on the abyss, even if the overcomplicated loot rules set up at the beginning says that they shouldn't.

It's not easier now. It's just different. That's what I was trying to convey.

Actually, I'm in the "if one guy gets all the luck and all the mats, grats!" camp. It all evens out in the fullness of time. I don't feel the need to make sure that every person gets their fair share every run. The new system just makes it easier in that sense ... you get what you get based on your /roll, and we're moving on.

On that i will totally agree it is different, and the % of the WoW population that it effects is those that for whatever reason tend to do more PUG's than guild/ friend run instances. On my enchanter I am going to make it clear that if someone rolls after they have already won a shard they go or i will. It means I have to add the responsability of tracking winners and yes thats a pain, but ill do it. This system is different from having to trade shards at the end but no better or worse. On good days with folks who will pass after winning it will be a great speed up to post-run activites, on the bad days I will live with doing only 4 of my 5 per hour instance runs should I have to drop a group.

I agree. Sometimes everything that drops in a run is an upgrade for only one of the members. I have no problem with encouraging that person to go ahead and need on it, even though they usually start feeling guilty around the 5th item.

There's an equal probability that, if one guy does win every shard from a run, it could be the enchanter himself.

My priest is an enchanter for the sole reason of being of more utility to groups, so this change sounds fine to me.

sadly, it's getting to the point where Blizz should just make everything BoE, and ater the run, you take your wins to your guild enchanter or vendor them.

Exactly. Some folks get so caught up in the whole "maximizing every run" thing they lose sight of the bigger picture. And by "bigger picture", I mean "it's just a game, lighten up and have some fun!"

It was fun for me to pass out shards at the end of the run. :(

it wsa fun for me to make 5 guys happy by ensuring that they all got a shard.

"OK, 3 shards and an abyss. Middle roll gets nothing. Low roll gets abyss. Everyone else gets shards. GOGO!!" <---- typical silliness from me at the end of a pug. Everyone always loved it and laughed. People who are doomed to roll single digits rejoiced and laughed. Fun times.

Eliminated. *sigh*

Q u o t e:
Ok, I have a serious question about the "DE" option thats coming in instances. I've read the blue post in the patch notes. It is as follows:

Group Disenchanting Option: In addition to rolling Need or Greed on items, players now have the option to elect for an item to be disenchanted. Disenchant works exactly like Greed except if a player wins the Greed roll, they will receive the disenchanted materials instead. Players who choose Need will always win the item and will always beat those that choose Greed or Disenchant.

My question is "will everyone see the "DE" button, or just those of us with the enchanting skill?" I'd really like to have this answered. I think it would clear up a lot of the confusion about the issue.

Thank you
Tarrissa of Aerie Peak
