Cross Realm instancing is a terrible idea.

The current system, limited to your server, creates friendships, forges bonds, and allows people to know who and who not to group up with. If this is taken out of the game, people will be unable to make new friendships that will be able to be carried out of the instance portal.

So what if it allows groups to form faster? It will destroy a Realm's Identity, and prevents people from forming lasting friendships. Keep (almost) everything else, but remove this.

I can see some negatives and some positives. Overall, more positives, because more people get chances to do instances. And if you look at it from a marketing stand point, it's worth more to do cross server instances, if you forge a strong enough friendship/bond with someone you ran something with, that encourages that person to transfer servers (Pay blizzard more monies).

And some people are just tired of never finding groups. I have one toon that took me 4-5 months to get enough groups to get geared, and my tank got geared in less than a week, and then raid geared in less than 3-4 weeks after that.

I still see it as a good thing more than a bad thing.

Before they instituted cross-realm Battlegrounds, the realm-based PvP community was lively and my realm forums were awash with PvP chatter.

But queues were hours long.

When they created cross-realm Battlegrounds, the realm-based community seemed to die down and the realm forums became more stagnant.

But I could be in a BG in seconds, whether my friends were online or not.

I expect something similar with the cross-realm LFG, and it will also be just fine.

Best idea EVER ! You don't have to use the cross realm instancing if you don't want. But it will be a HUGE help to gearing up people who have just hit 80 and don't have strong guild support for instance runs. I will be running my DK via this service constantly. It is nearly impossible for me to find any runs that are willing to take a 27K HP DK tank.

It's optional. Don't like it? Don't use it.

You can still group with people of your realm. They aren't forcing you to only group with randoms from another server. Just because you are with 1-4 strangers in a heroic dungeon doesn't mean the friendships you have and will have are gone for good. I'm not seeing the issue here.

As an afterthought, if you find yourself grouping with the same people, there is always the realm change option, vent, and the option to make an alt on each other's realms. So are there are ways to keep in touch.

Say no to fun and ease-of-use.

You say this because your on a dead-end server. Ilidan has no group finding problems. Force a transfer on Low-Pop Dead Realms to Medium/Other Low Pop realms, shutting the previous down. It will fix your problems.

Think it's a very good thing for alts--easily pugable content, even raids.

For the future of guilds? Maybe not so much.

Too early to panic about it yet. After all, it may turn out to be the most popular addition since in-game voice chat (LOL).

You can still join guilds, and play with friends, and group only with them while using the dungeon tool. Now, if your friends aren't all on at the same time, you can spend more time playing the instances you want with your friends rather than spamming the trade channel saying "LF1M heals for H Oculus"

guarantees that you will NOT find enough people to run the instances you are interested in. In the three weeks my pally has been 80, I've gotten to run regular ToC twice. The pally is DPS of course, but I'm trying to get tanking gear because all I see on my server is LF1M Tank. Yet NO ONE on my server runs anything to gear up new tanks.

Cross Realm LFG means I'll actually be able to gear up alts for a change. I cant' wait. Rolling need with 4 other people on gear is a heck of a lot better than staring at the walls in dalaran.

I tried the new LFG system on the PTR and I really liked it.

Personally, I would ask my friends to group with me first, then my guild, then general chat, then I would use the LFG.

As a last ditch effort to group, I think it will be enhanced by the x-realm ability.

If you don't like it - there are 4 other ways to group. Pretty easy stuff to deal with imo.



edit: And I want to mention that in the 10 or so times I grouped with the new LFG - not once was there a double of any class. THAT is a huge advantage over just shouting in Dal for people. Easy and effective. Blizzard might have a win when implemented.

Did I mention you get a bonus for using this system once daily?? So don't fear the x-realm, it will not break up your friend circles.

This is a much needed addition to the system. Lower level characters will benefit so greatly for this, it would be insulting to remove it.

Many servers also suffer from a severe lack of players willing to actually pug. If a group is never started, how can this supposed bond be made? Speaking of that, how do you make such a powerful bond with 4 random people after only 30-60 minutes? That's not nearly enough time to make any real connection.

Most servers already lack an identity like the one you seem to be trying to defend. If yours is one of the lucky few with one, by all means, don't use the new system.

Why join guilds if the main benefit of it is cut off by cross-realm instances?

I hate the people on my server, I welcome the chance to hate people from other servers!

Because it isn't?

Screw that... I want to be able to get into instance groups.

Maybe you're on a high population server and don't have this problem. But some of us are on a low population server for one reason or another.

You don't have to use it. You can make your groups on your server, in your guild and be happy. I'm thrilled at the x-server instance and raid groups. Even if I'm cheated out of gear, they can't cheat me out of the badges that I'll be getting by the truck loads.
