Just a random thought, but I wonder what the design for Teldrassil will be in Cata? Will they finally flesh out the world tree and I'll be able to fly all the way up into Darn or will it be a no-fly zone so I'll only be able to fly into Rut'Theran like always?

I think it would be epic to circle up the trunk of the last world tree and into Darn. :) Although the design of the world tree would be a huge undertaking, I know.

Again... just random. No real point to it. LOL

Since hearing about flight in Cataclysm, I decided that one of my first endeavors on launch week would be to go out to one of the branches sprouting off of the great majestic trunk and jump off. Before hitting bottom, I'll hit flight form and fly off into the sunset.

Of course, it'll be difficult to fly into the sunset since my camera will be right there a three car lengths behind me, but you get the idea.

What worries me is the mention that Nordrassil is growing back... I hope that doesn't mean the night elves will be abandoning Teldrassil. I think Teldrassil is one of the most awesome things in the game. Big giant Texas-sized tree with a capital city in its branches. You can't beat that for epic.

I sure hope so. Teldrassil has always had more potential than the game could explore.

Especially with Ashenvale suffering in the cataclysm, I hope things turn out well for the World Tree. It'd be horrible to finally get flying mounts in the old world only to loose the best forest to fly through.

It's actually already fleshed out. You can easily see this for yourself now by going to Darnassus and walking out to Teldrassil and going to the edge of the zone. You can fall down to the see below. In fact, it's even possible to slow fall from the top of Teldrassil to Auberdine - it's all connected.

I have in fact done the falling from the top of the world tree into the sea, but all you get on the way down is tree trunk. The crown of the tree (where the cities are) isn't really externally fleshed out. I'm just wondering how they'll handle that. It is an awfully large tree, after all. ;)

It's all connected, but it's not a tree shape. It's more of a giant pillar that ends with a huge forest on the top. I think the OP is wondering if it will actually look like it does in the concept art, IE, like an actual giant tree.

Part of me would like to be able to fly around the world tree, but half of me doesn't want the ability to do so - Tyrande is already undefendable. Giving Horde the ability to fly straight in would make it even more so :x

Its not an actual tree though.

Vordrassil and Nordrassil are both modeled trees (well Vordrassil a giant stump and log).

Teldrassil is just raised up terrain with tree branches sticking out from the side.

If only they could make it look like this.

Just for clarification, this post isn't promising anything and we will have to see how things play out when we are closer to releasing the next expansion.

Nordrassil's still a baby in Cata. It's just started growing back. Teldrassil's all grown up. Check out the ruins and stump of Vordrassil in Grizzly Hills... it's pretty huge.

So, how come Teldrassil is so large an entire civilization can live in it, but the representation of Nordrassil is that it is about the size of a person or two in thickness?

I'm sad. Hopefully the non-instanced Hyjal will reflect this?
