Will adding a "SPOILER: " to a thread title be acceptable? Or best to avoid it all together?

No, unfortunately unless you are using it for theorycrafting. Even then, please be very careful about what information you use as a source for such theorycrafting. We love discussion on what could be and love the excitement that it generates. We just don't want theorycrafting to be used as a veil for actual spoilers.

It's safest to avoid it if you can.

You know what it took me so long to realize?

At the rate that Blizz is going with the patch so far, 3.3 might get released around the 1 year anniversary of Wrath of the Lich King...

Coincidence? Or telltale sign?

Neth, that's all fine and dandy but realize that anything revealed in the raid as opposed to the 5 mans (especialy if it's hardmode content stuff) will likely be "experienced within the game" by a much fewer amount of people than could experience it via watching the datamined stuff or videos on youtube or whatever.

Claiming to be a hard-core gamer because you play a lot of WoW is like claiming to be a criminal mastermind because you can't stop shoplifting nicotine patches.

We have no problem with people sharing their experiences with others after the events are released live for play. Anything currently available to be experienced on the PTR can be discussed. Anything that can be experienced once the patch goes live can be discussed. Anything that can not be experienced within the PTR currently or on future live patches is considered datamined and should not be posted in these forums.

SPOLIER: Arthas and Sylvanas kiss and make up, then go on to star in a new TV show as a couple of bumbling private detectives based in Brooklyn. Hijinks ensue.

I hate to tell you Neth, but by posting this you are inciting the very act that you want to prevent.

Increase ur internal testing team and time and kill off this PTR stuff. It gets rid of two problems: people datamining spoilers and guilds training in PTR two-shotting everything after release.

You guys already spend two or three weeks fixing bugs after releasing a major content patch, anyway...

(Don't take me too serious, I do understand the importance of testing... But maybe it could be done in a way that do not put the game files open to anyone willing to download it.)

If it has nothing to do with the current patch or "future live patches", why not just leave the files out of the build so it can't get datamined?

Edit: (Halloween masks anyone)?

No matter what, it is always a part of human nature (for some people) to spoil things for others. We can't prevent that behavior, but we can certainly encourage those who are not willfully or knowingly spoiling this for others think a little bit more about their actions and how it affects others. We have yet to perfect our mind control machine so this will have to do. We also can control people's posting permissions on these forums in the meantime as it is shown to be necessary.

My personal preference is not to have to suspend anyone. I don't prefer it, but will do what I need to for the benefit of the community as a whole.

PTRs are garbage that ruin content by allowing it to be beaten on release day. /rant.

Since we all know what one website is the primary contributor to released data mined information, isn't there a legal path Blizzard can take to defend from someone tearing their intellectual property apart? Understanding MMO is owned by Major League Gaming, and if you look at the walk through videos that he does, it is obvious this individual is violating a ton of items in the EULA and probably boarding on infringing on the Blizzard copyrights.

While some of us do enjoy the good sneak peaks offered by some of these sites - mainly the patch notes and model previews - it is obvious Blizzard has a ton of work in the Arthas encounter, and these other sites offer no masking or other protection from viewing the content.

I would just guess that sites using Blizzard's property to drive traffic and their own revenue would be more willing to listen to Blizzard, or at least Blizz having more of say in what these sites can show.

Really, people just need to remember that data-mined PTR builds are still in testing. People tend to have a knee-jerk reaction to changes that some of the data-mining sites post, then come here and explode all over the forums about "how could you dare nerf X". Perfect example, GC's clarification on the percieved Curse of Elements nerf. People saw it on another site, blew up here, and in the end they looked like idiots because Blizz adjusted a lower rank of the spell, not the top rank.

Data mining is data-mined. If you want a sneak into what may be coming, go look on those other sites. But keep in mind that until the final build is put in place and the official patch notes released, the info on the other sites should be taken with a grain of salt.

Yes I'm sure they'd be willing to listen to Blizzard to some extent. The trouble is they are competing sites, and many players want to see this content as soon as possible regardless of spoilers or anything. So, the site that makes this content available as fast as possible will be the site that gets the most traffic (which means more ad revenue and all that).
