You must of missed the memo. If you dont complete the meta on the very first day, it is mathematically impossible to complete it.

Technically, for most of the people whining, it's about the sixteenth day. And despite my having completed Long Strange Trip with Brewfest, I find the whining totally, utterly and completely, 100% justifiable.

If you got shafted by RNG the first time around but persisted, successfully applying yourself to all the other various tasks and requirements demanded over the course of a year, only to once again face the spectre of getting screwed by a shoddy random number generator, you would have every right to be alarmed. It's not just the prospect of a year of effort being rendered meaningless, but the awareness that you won't even get a chance for your dedication to be recognized for another year.

Some will be lucky, some will not.

What people don't understand is that you have to earn somethings. Anything with RnG is called a *Bad Achievement* because they can't get it in 5 minutes due to a high case of A.D.D. I only wish they left all of them as they were origanally intended. Yet, with all of the nerfs they still complain and get a free 310% Mount.

There really isn't an achievement that's *Awesome* anymore. Hoping now that I am working on Battlemaster I will have some fun getting this one.

People come to forums to vent their frustrations and ask for changes? Say it ain't so!

If you're upset about them being frustrated, then you're no better. Chill out.

This Event and Valentine's Day will have the most complaints because of the achievements requiring you to base your hopes on RNG. People don't like RNG when it comes to achievements. It's that simple.

If an achievement can be worked towards, be it with a group for Heroics, a bigger group for Raids, or a group in PvP, then it's at least obtainable in their minds, even if it is hard and requires dedication, it can be done in a reasonable time span if they work towards it enough. An RNG achievement, can take months, years even, without completion.

Yes, achievements are optional, but some people desire the reward, be it a title, or a pet, or a tabard, or a mount. If there is a reward for doing something, many people will strive to obtain that reward by doing the optional achievements. Putting something in their way that is completely luck based and could take them years to accomplish, pisses them off. Especially when they have only 2 weeks to try their luck at that RNG achievement and then it's GG until next year for another 2 weeks.

Many of the complainers, already went through this event for 2 weeks last year and got boned, and they're complaining early because they know what it's like to get screwed over for a year. Especially know that they have all the rest of the requirements to get "What a Long, Strange Trip It's Been" and are just not up for waiting a whole year more to try for yet a 3rd time to get the required items.

So yes, things like "A Mask Task", "That Sparkling Smile" & "Sinister Calling" are going to get a lot of complaints. Blizzard can state all it wants that it's "okay with how they are now" but the majority of at least the forum community, are not.

People just don't like RNG based achievements. They don't require skill, or teamwork, or anything but getting lucky.

Yet every other seasonal meta had the achievements that relied on the RNG removed from the meta. I don't mind the Sinister Calling achievement existing much like I don't mind Perma-Peddle from Valentines day. I do mind that I can do 5+ Trick or Treats a day (I've done about 15 in the first 2), the fire daily and 5 HH kills (did 8 the first day as a few had the extra summon) a day and still not get the achievement due to RNG. Who knows maybe as the 14 days of Hallow's End go by I'll get both. I do know from last year that a lot of people did not get Sinister Calling.

There are already two big achievements that force players to possibly do things they would not normally do with Hallow's End. One being G.N.E.R.D. Rage and the other being Tricks or Treats of Azeroth. Those two alone match the time and tasks of other seaonal meta achievements.

That is actually not true. All these statistics about chances depending on the day are crap. There is no mathematical way to write out a formula on the chances of obtaining something through a random drop based on how often you've done the neccesary requirements to get that item.

The item has a set drop chance, that set drop chance does not improve based on how many times you've killed what drops it, or opened the bag that drops it. The chance is always the same. If it's 5% on day 1, it's still 5% on day 14. If it's 5% on bag 1, it's still 5% on bag 2001. If it's 5% on kill 1, it's still 5% on kill 100.

This is the underlying reason behind many people's hatred of RNG. No matter how much you work at it, no matter how skilled you are, no matter how many people help you, your chances do not improve over time or dedication. If luck doesn't roll your way, you're screwed.

People whine every holiday. I thought that there would be less whining this time around since people had last year to do the achievements therefore there would be less people trying, but actually I think there's more whining this year. Weird.

I've never seen anyone explain why its so terrible for achievements with rewards to have random components, but its ok for mobs to have random drop rates.

Basically, anyone that thinks that the violet proto should not have any random components should also be campaigning for every piece of dropped loot (including both gear and things like mounts) to be on a token system instead, so you can be assured to get something after putting a certain amount of effort in.

50 Kael kills should buy you a phoenix and what not.
