I've leveled two alliance characters through the starting zones in Northrend but am now leveling Horde for the first time. I've gotta say, Warsong Hold is an impressive structure, and the first dozen quests felt much more epic and immersive than the alliance quests in Borean Tundra.

Nerubians chasing you into your base? Check
Freeing soldiers who then assist you while questing? Check
Destroying Scourge with bombs and tank? Check
Hero of the Horde coming to your rescue? Check

The Horde starting just felt so much more epic than the Alliance starter areas.

Edit: I also found this area much more challenging than the Ally one. I felt like I was constantly being swarmed by bugs with barely a break before another spawn or pat got onto me again. It definitely felt like the base was under attack, much more so than for Alliance.

The Alliance quests in Howling Fjord have you personally deliver THE ASHBRINGER to Tiron Fordring.

Warsong hold is very impressive. What I don't get is why, of all places, the Orcs decided to build their Hold in a giant hole infested with giant undead spiders. Usually things like keeps and holds are built....outside of giant holes filled with giant undead spiders.

I thought that was just in the beta. The Death Knight beginning area has Tirion get the Ashbringer from Darion Mograine.

Er, I did every quest in HF and I don't remember either of those.

Tirion sends it on ahead to the Fjord, hoping it would stem the tide of the Vykrul. It's lost in the catacombs under Ut'gard Keep. You find it after finding a dying pally quest giver in the catacombs. Tirion is actually in disguise at Valgarde until you return with the Ashbringer.

It bugs me to no end that Garrosh just decides to build the Hold in the middle of the quarry from which he's getting the stone to build the hold.

Kinda stupid to choose a high vantage point and then open a deep hole in it to build a hold right in the bottom of said hole.

The spiders showed up right as they got done building. The gnome inspector that we hired to check the land mysteriously dissapeared shortly after the construction started.

Right around lunch time oddly enough.
