I've been playing for a long time, and I don't remember being able to disenchant other people's stuff. I only remember being able to enchant other people's stuff by them putting it in the "don't trade" box.

Next time you ask for an enchant someone DEs your gear and you weren't paying attention and clicked trade. oops sorry you're s.o.l.
Terrible idea.

However, I would support enchanters being able to enchant your piece that's in the do no trade window by using the materials that you have in the trade window.

Well the main argument for that idea is people stealing mats by saying they will do an enchant and then just logging out after they are traded the mats. But as I have never met anyone who has had this particular experience I am going to continue to attribute this to an old wive's tale, or your server has some really big meanies on it.

In regard to being screwed over and having an item that you wanted enchanted, DE'd instead... they could simply make a confirmation window attached to the trade accept informing you of what you're about to do, and if you hit cancel it wouldn't DE.

Anyway to the OP, no it's never been possible to do what you're saying, nor are there plans to make such changes currently. I have a feeling, what you're remembering is having people trade you what they wanted DE'd, and you disenchanted it while it was in your inventory.

You can enchant on the trade window, but you can't disenchant.

It'd be of convenience to the enchanter who is doing the person a service. It's not me being lazy, but wishing someone else's job, which is a service to me, is easier to do.

Perhaps you have been DEing BOP items during the 2 hour tradable phase they introduced. During that phase Items can be DEed, but not after the timer expires.
