I know we can change to whatever race we want if we switch from alliance to horde. Can we switch our race and stay on the horde side? That's stupid to have to switch to alliance for a month, the switch back just to change your race...

The faction change and race change are separate services. The faction change is currently available and we plan to have the race change service available soon. Keep an eye out on the forums/website for updates.

If I change my race once am I able to change it again later on? Or is it a one off and then permanent?
Because I wouldn't mind going Undead for a while to see how I like it. Orc and Undead was a tough choice for me in the first place,
However if I did this I would most likely want to go back to Orc later.

Why go from BE to Undead? Just curious because I was considering the other way around... if at all. The reasoning is arcane torrent for extra mana is nice. I thought I would add that. :p

I imagine there will be a cooldown period of 30 or 60 days between race changes (like with similar services) but you should be able to switch more than once - it would almost be inconceivable for them not to allow that.
I jumped headfirst into the general forums and now I'm paralyzed from the neck up.

not to be a nitpicker but you forgot to mention that it is impossible to faction change, then faction change back to your original faction but an entirely new race than you originally rolled. At first blizzard said they would allow this (money grab) but then decided against it (probably to milk more money out of two seperate and far apart services, hence the wait.

Im beginning to think I will win the lottery before we see this feature. After all a race change is simpler then a faction change, so youd think itd be easy to implement. I think they are holding off tell cataclysm before implementing it.

The other bits have been explained already.
However, in response to "That's stupid to have to switch to alliance for a month, the switch back just to change your race...", read the FAQ. If you switch back to horde, you have to be the race you were originally. You can't go Orc -> Human -> Undead. It has to be Orc -> Human -> Orc, for example.
