Battle.net accounts…..

Isn’t this where games go do die?

Haven’t we all see this with other games before. The only question I have is; what is coming out in Nov that has Blizzard calling it quits with World of Warcraft. I mean this is the first step in shoving the responsibility of World of Warcraf onto someone else isn’t it?

Player: Hey I have an issue with my account.

Blizzard: Don’t ask me talk to Battle.net.

Seriously, how many games dose Blizzard actually have that people play; 1, World of Warcraft.

Let me guess Battle.net…
I open the page, get bombarded with advertisements.
I register with Battle.net and I get spam in my email, Text massages on my phone, pop ups all over every link on Battle.net, and lets not forget Spyware!
I get bombarded with in game chat from new gold sellers with the ability to cross server chat now.
Good question about this cross server chat; Why the heck would I want to talk to someone on another server unless I’m a gold seller?

Here is another thing I don’t understand about Battle.net and its right off the Battle.net FAQ.

Q: Are these Battle.net Accounts related to Blizzard Accounts?
A: Battle.net Accounts are an evolution of the existing Blizzard Accounts. If you already use a Blizzard Account, you do not need to create a new Battle.net Account -- the Blizzard Account has been automatically converted, and people with existing Blizzard Accounts have received an email containing more information.

Doesn’t this mean none of us here have to get a Battle.net Account by Nov 11, because we ALL already have a Blizzard Account from World of Warcraft?

What happens to all those people who have taken some time off and come back only to find they cant log in anymore and it is [mandatory] required, to open a Battle.net account by Nov 11. Are there accounts just deleted if they don’t?

Anyway, who dose Blizzard actually think they EA, SONY! You got ONE GAME that’s popular, and you haven’t made anything anyone wants to play besides World of Warcraf in a decade.. Starcraft, give me a brake, Diablo, talk about a relic. Does Blizzard even have anything besides World of Warcraft currently?

Anyone want to bet Blizzard loses 15%-25% of its existing accounts over this?
They just lost mine because I cant figure out what you want me to do. I already have a Blizzard account supposedly so if I create a NEW account wont that mean I have to start all over again with a new account? Happened in SWG, bye the way with the same kind of junk.

Battle.net Security-
Anyone read this?
Basically its just telling you, YOUR responsible and if you want a secure account you have to BUY an Authenticator from Blizzard.

Simply put… This whole Battle.net Account is a Scam!
A scam to get you to look at even more Advertisements
A scam to add spam to your email
A scam to get you to buy junk off from the Blizzard Store
A scam to let them text massage you phone. (they already do this currently).
A scam to get you to buy an Authenticator, so another $6.50, out of your pocket.
A scam to make people lose there accounts and start over as has happened in other games during a switchover like this; SWG for example.

Battle.net EULA-

Funny…
*
use cheats, automation software (bots), hacks, mods or any other unauthorized third-party software designed to modify the Service, any Game or any Game experience;
*

So, half to 85% of the population of wow just got banned [MODS]. Even screen picks of the day show MOD users half the time.

I don’t get this Switchover at all, and in fact this is exactly how I lost my SWG account with Sony and it took weeks to straiten out the mess, and by then I didn’t want to play it anymore.

Good luck with your Battle.net scam Blizzard. I’m out;
-Like I need to see text from Gold sellers from 50 different servers to add to my gaming experience.
-Like I need to remember just one more account password.
-Like I need to be bombarded with Blizzard store offers.
-Like I need to be bombarded with another whole set of advertisements I have to weed though to get to my game.

What so wrong with what we are doing now?
-I click the icon on my browser.
-I click Play
-I type in my password.
-Then I play.

No one at Blizzard ever heard of the KISS Rules?

Battle.net is Blizzard's online multiplayer service. It is owned and operated by Blizzard. They are not handing WoW off to someone else.

You do realise that Battle.net IS Blizzard? They made Battle.net LOONG ago for multiplayer play of Diablo 1 and 2, Warcraft 2 and 3, and Starcraft.

There is no more ads there, you get no more email from there, and you still log in the game the exact same way : User name + password.

And I fail to see how they are forcing us to buy there stuff or use an authenticator? Please explain?

Only in WoW the time you need to skin an elephant is the same to skin a rabbit.
Only in WoW you can fail picking a flower.
Only in WoW can a pig parry and block a huge axe.

I'm taking it that the OP doesn't read or listen to any conversations from the past 6 months. If they did, they would know some of their answers.

Yup, I'm probably that person who reported your name for being against the naming policy on an RP realm.

Blizzard accounts were used only for the online store. Blizzard created battle.net as an online service for it's original games, like Diablo, Star Craft and Warcraft. Battle.net 2.0, which we all will be switching too not only host WoW, but also any future Blizzard game, and will be more like a Station account, which is what SOE calls their current account system.

Again : Battle.net ARE Blizzard. Blizzard IS Battle.net. Its all the same thing.

Q u o t e:

Seriously, how many games dose Blizzard actually have that people play; 1, World of Warcraft.
Starcraft, Warcraft 2 and 3, Diablo 2, all those games are still very played. Last time I logged in Diablo 2, I saw that there was 450 000 players playing on Battle.net, and 78'000 playing Diablo 2.

And Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 are coming soon, you bet there will be a bunch of people playing them.

Q u o t e:

You guessed terribly wrong. Battle.net has no more ads than any other Blizzard's site. I never got spammed ... in fact, I never received a single email to my registered email.

And as for the cross server, maybe you dont have friends, but I know a lot of people playing on different servers than mine, and I know a lot of people who has friends on different servers.

Q u o t e:
Here is another thing I don’t understand about Battle.net and its right off the Battle.net FAQ.

Q: Are these Battle.net Accounts related to Blizzard Accounts?

Doesn’t this mean none of us here have to get a Battle.net Account by Nov 11, because we ALL already have a Blizzard Account from World of Warcraft?
No, there were a Blizzard account back in the past years. You could use it to buy from Blizzard's store, to merge every existing game except WoW into this account, or to opt-in for betas.

Now, they transformed the Blizzard account into a Battle.net account to allow WoW to be merged, and to allow many more functions.

In all, if you did not have a Blizzard account before, dont bother with this line.

Q u o t e:
What happens to all those people who have taken some time off and come back only to find they cant log in anymore and it is [mandatory] required, to open a Battle.net account by Nov 11. Are there accounts just deleted if they don’t?
Or... there will be a message saying "This account must be merged into a Battle.net account to log in the game, please do so at "http://www.battle.net" ... dont you think?

Q u o t e:
Anyway, who dose Blizzard actually think they EA, SONY! You got ONE GAME that’s popular, and you haven’t made anything anyone wants to play besides World of Warcraf in a decade.. Starcraft, give me a brake, Diablo, talk about a relic. Does Blizzard even have anything besides World of Warcraft currently?
They might come with another mmo sometime, but as I said, a lot of people are still playing old games, and a lot will do with the 2 nexts.

Q u o t e:

Anyone want to bet Blizzard loses 15%-25% of its existing accounts over this?
They just lost mine because I cant figure out what you want me to do. I already have a Blizzard account supposedly so if I create a NEW account wont that mean I have to start all over again with a new account? Happened in SWG, bye the way with the same kind of junk.
You have a Blizzard account, or a WoW account?

If you have a Blizzard account, its already converted, and all you have to do now is merge your WoW account in it.

If you only have a WoW account, you must create a Battle.net account.

Q u o t e:
Battle.net Security-
Anyone read this?
Basically its just telling you, YOUR responsible and if you want a secure account you have to BUY an Authenticator from Blizzard.
They are not saying anything new, account security always been our responsability, never their. And no, they are not forcing us to buy an authen. but I must admit that this level of security is amazing.

Q u o t e:

Read it completely... "or any other unauthorized third-party software designed to modify the Service, any Game or any Game experience". Addons (yes, they are call addons, not mod) are NOT designed to modify the service, the game, or the game experience.

And the EULA are NOT the rules over the accounts of WoW. This is the Term Of Use. The EULA are the terms of service of the physical medias.

Q u o t e:
I don’t get this Switchover at all, and in fact this is exactly how I lost my SWG account with Sony and it took weeks to straiten out the mess, and by then I didn’t want to play it anymore.
First, SWG has been given to another company. Battle.net IS Blizzard.

2 - If, from the very start back in November 2004, we had to create a Master Blizzard account and a WoW account inside, no one would ever complains.

And, in one year from now, no one will even talk about that.

Q u o t e:
-Like I need to remember just one more account password.
In fact, you will have to remember only ONE password and user name, your Battle.net infos.

Q u o t e:
-Like I need to be bombarded with Blizzard store offers.
-Like I need to be bombarded with another whole set of advertisements I have to weed though to get to my game.
No, you wont.

Q u o t e:
What so wrong with what we are doing now?
-I click the icon on my browser.
-I click Play
-I type in my password.
-Then I play.
And it is STILL the way it works with the Battle.net account.

Only in WoW the time you need to skin an elephant is the same to skin a rabbit.
Only in WoW you can fail picking a flower.
Only in WoW can a pig parry and block a huge axe.

I agree in large part with the poster, the confusing thing is you are informed your account information has already been moved to battlenet or that you can merge your accounts , yet the first thing requested is a new account creation.

I havent been sold on what improvements I will derive from this transition other than I will be exposed to more marketing etc to Blizzards Benefit.

Blizzard should of made the process of transition to battle net more seamless. I am not interested in creating a new account and therefore on November 10 I guess I close my two accounts whilst I can

My faith in the human race has just dropped another notch. This has got to be the most idiotic thread I've seen in a VERY long time.

Battlenet IS Blizzard. They created Battlenet way back in the day for online play on their games such as the Warcrafts, Starcrafts, and Diablos.

They are not turnin the game over to another company, as Blizzard is Blizzard. They are turning the game over to.... themselves?

Battlenet has no more ads than your average Blizzard site.

I currently have a Battlenet account. It doesn't force you to completely start over as new characters. All my old characters are still right there. I'm just playing with a Battlenet account. Also, Blizzard accounts =/= WoW accounts.

Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 are expected to be released relatively soon.

Account security has always been your responsibility. Not Blizzards. It's been like this since day one.

Addons =/= cheats, automation software (bots), hacks, mods or any other unauthorized third-party software designed to modify the Service, any Game or any Game experience

Hey Blizzard, it's me Rock. Paper keeps covering me, so could you nerf it please? Oh, and don't listen to all those complainers saying Scissors is broken. They just need to L2Play.

I've been merged with battle.net for months, I haven't been "exposed to more marketing" (actually I haven't even been getting the Blizzard newsletters I signed up for) and frankly I have no idea where people are getting that from.

Personally I'm looking forward to account-wide achievements and the unified chat system (talk to people on your friends list across servers and faction, as well as across games).

Yes, you can two-box if you have two accounts connected to one battle.net account. As long as you're logging into two separate WoW accounts, you're good.

When you merge multiple WoW accounts, a drop-down menu appears on the login screen that lets you pick which account you want to log into.

When you log in, you get a drop down box to decide what account you want to play. If you open up a second instance of wow (as you do now) and sign in, but choose the other account, they will both play. It won't log you off the first, nor stop you from opening the second.
