Q u o t e:
It just depends on the situation and the timing needed. I generally keep my instants within the keybind realm so I can use them quickly. For things that take longer or things I don't use a lot, clicking is fine. I do have my eye on a new mouse that I want though. I wouldn't mind having some keybinds a bit closer at hand there. ;)
/off topic
If you're talking about the Steel Series Mouse made for WoW, then let me just say, that while it's helped me with some of the keybinds, overall, it's a little frustrating.
You're not really writing macros into the buttons but attaching them to keybinds already in the game.
For example, the default for C is the Character Screen. I can rebind that key to say, Flare. Now with the software for the WoW mouse, I can assign "Open Character Screen" to a Key. There it's bound..if I ever rebind the C key to something else, it will be that way on my mouse.
However...say the user creates a custom macro like "/target focus" or something. The game has no default keybind for that so the software from Steel Series requires you to make a macro. You make that macro and what does it do? It types the macro command into your chat window every time you hit it. (Alternatively you can make a macro in game, rebind an ingame keybind and then assign it to a button through the Mouse software).
Press that "macro" on your mouse and it's typing /target focus over and over.
WoW mouse is ok. But it will be much better if Steel Series every hires someone to make better software. (Don't get me started on the errors you get when you try to load your profile from the WoW Armory). What bummed me out the most on that WoW Mouse is that I couldn't turn one of the buttons into the Shift key, or the Control key.
Well back on topic...
Overall, Clicking vs Keybinding, I think for a lot of people it will always be a mixture. I strafe with my keys, turn with my mouse and have a lot of things Keybound, but I still click some things simply because I'm not a pianist. I haven't used the default UI in a long time due to being a hunter and having a buttload of Keybinds. Not too mention, I use the addon Macaroon because it helps with writing macros and doing keybinds on the fly (every button is essentially a macro) and expands the default set of macros. My wife on the other hand uses almost no macros, no addons (including thinking that healbot is for lazy people), clicks everything, turns with her keys and still manages to top the healing meters and do very well.
Personal preference I suppose. If you're a clicker looking to become a keybinder...then you can do it. I clicked fully. I started out by changing things slowly. Megatf had the best advice. He said to "do one keybind at a time, get used to it and then do another." Get rid of left and right turn and change that to left and right strafe. It's hard to change, i used to run with my arrow keys. Lol, if you have to unbind those keys so they don't work.
It's a pita to retrain your muscle memory, but it can be done...
(holy crap this is too long)
tldr ~ WoW Mouse 2 out of 4 stars only because the software is kinda bogus
Personal Preference rules...clickers can be just as effective as keybinders depending on the situation.
