Non Battle.net Accounts offline on November 12th
Apparently, if you didn't merge your WoW account to a Battle.net account you won't be able to play the game after November 12th. The good news is, you get a free penguin!

Quote from Blizzard staff
Q: What happens if I don’t merge my World of Warcraft account with a Battle.net account?
A: After November 12, 2009, you won’t be able to log in to the game unless you merge your account with a Battle.net account. You will need to log in using your Battle.net account username (your email address) and password. (honestly.... i dont like to login with my email address....)

anyone here can tell me step by step to merge my account ==> battle net account
i know.. this is mandatory... *sigh*

(pros/cons) : we dont have to get exalted with kaluak to get penguin mini pet. -_-

Logging in with your email may seem tedious to you (for what ever reason, I wont question it), but you'll grow used to it and in a short amount of time you wont notice it at all, theres also the remember account feature on the login screen you can take advantage of.

It may seem unfair, simply because its mandatory to continue playing the game, but I assure you its for the best, and the "negative repercussions" will not last long and certainly wont outlive the positives of integrating wow into the battle.net system.

What i wanna know is how my email is supposed to be more secure than Blizzards usernames/passwords?? I have a username and password for WoW appropriate for a game that has had a bunch of time and effort spent on it (i.e. a username no one knows and a password nobody on the planet could hack), as opposed to the username and password used for my email which is appropriate for an email address that consists of junk mail thats filtered before its even seen and homework assigments that need to be turned in (needless to say, its much less secure).

So my question is this: How is Blizzard claiming this is in any way supposed to increase the security on my account??

Or is it the more logical assumption: Blizzard is tired of needing to deal with accounts being hacked and so, rather than dealing with the situation, they are just pushing off the whole 'security issue' onto a third and separate party (3rd party being our email provider)?

While a bit on the sarcastic side... this should probably be a sticky.

Battle.net = WoW, SC2 and D3.. they want all games linked so you're able to talk to eachother and see whos online via battle.net. Blizz is trying to build a community within all their games, as opposed to each individual game. Also, you don't use your e-mail password, you can use your current WoW password, and if its as unhackable as you say, then it should be no problem for you.

My aunt doesn't even play these games. She never gives her email out to anyone unless they are family. And guess what happend? Her email account got hacked by a goldfarmer. True story. The farmer sent an email to all her contacts telling them to buy gold. I wish I had kept the email so I could show it to you but I deleted it.

So it really isn't safe to make the email account become our WoW account. Those damn gold farmers are scarey with hacks.. O.o

If someone shares a network with her, then that's probably how she got hacked. It happened to my brother, cause his girlfriend got a keylogger, and they're able to get to all computers on the network. Or maybe it was an e-mail she received or a keylogger from somewhere.

But this only gives them your account name...
You choose a differnet password n stuff. also Keyloggers etc.
