Gear is not everything, but if your keeping track i have 6 pieces of level 245.

Chest, Back, Neck, Ring , Trinket and Thrown.

One trend you might see - is that players who have been around a long time, often are not the most geared.

Being geared isn't something you achieve, it is something you have to maintain... and the higher the gear, the harder to maintain especially once you get to the four-five year mark.

Regardless, this actually isn't my most geared toon either.

If someone could post enough to be an MVP and play enough to be in a raid guild where they could get ilevel 258 gear, I don't think they'd have enough time left in their day to eat.

There was a forum bug not too long ago that deselected the posting character and selected another. And considering mornings I tend to post prior to coffee... I posted on my hunter quite a few times.

Unfortunately that's the way account flagging works for our forums. We ask the MVPs to stick to one character on the account to avoid confusion.

I fell for the same bug as well, and more than once. General didn't seem to notice my frantic post deletions, but one thread in Customer Service led to me doing a lot of explaining that my night elf druid wasn't a newly appointed MVP. ;)

That said, I'm primarily a solo player, and I don't have nice gear to show off either. It's just as well that gear score isn't a criteria for forum posting.

They're all on EJ forums and don't bother wasting time with the QQ / flamefests here. The forums there are heavily moderated such that any posts that go off topic / have fights are removed and accounts penalized.

Bliz has admitted to reading those forums for info / theorycrafting so they know where the good stuff is at.

Because of that playstyle, you know stuff I can't for the life of me remember.

Just because you are geared doesn't mean you understand how your class works or how fights work.

All it means is that you were able to follow guides that told you how to spec for maximum DPS, Healing or Survivability/Threat and can follow the directions of your raid leaders..

I on the otherhand (even though I'm not a MVP) can tell you how the AGGRO system works (or at least players believe it works).. I could explain the spell casting system and the changes it has gone through since release, I can tell you how Vanilla was as a Hardcore raider / PvPer both with Rose colored glasses and the reality of the situation. I have a good grasp of lore. I believe that these are infinently better qualifications then having the latest and greatest equipment which will just become outdated in the next patch anyways.
