A few questions about the new system I need answered please:
-Will the various cross character/game features of this new system let anyone see a person's other characters and what we're doing, or only those people we want to see these things?
-Can people track us from one game to another without our OK?
-Can they track us from one WoW character to another?
-Do we retain control over who we let track us?

Please let the community know these things, there are genuine safety issues at stake in this for some people, not just paranoid fantasies about conspiracies to wring extra money from people or account hacking. I checked the FAQ's, if these questions have been answered, just point me towards them.

Thank you.

Stop being so paranoid. Nobody is going to "track" you.

Serious concerns, i hope we won't be tracked by other people without our consent.

Sometimes its just nice to level an alt without the guild begging you to tank/heal, too.

I'm going to take a wild guess here and assume that Blizzard are and will be the only ones able to "track" a battle.net account and all the sub-accounts associated with it. I don't think they'll go as far as flag, for instance, ALL of your characters as belonging to account X (because that would reveal the account name, which would be a huge privacy breach).

I'd like to see a developer's answer to this too BTW.

Well nobody will track you, but some of us are more interesting and attract scary people.

I'm sorry, but I'm in another castle..

Here's a fun thought.

"We are currently experiencing a high volume of tickets"

How often do you see that? Now, if they don't have enough GMs to handle all the tickets, do you honestly think they're gonna have people tracking you 24/7?

Which of the following will I do?
A. Give you up. B. Let you down.
C. Run around. D. Desert you.
E. None of the above.

The RealID system which displays your first and and last name and allows your friends to find you on battle.net and see what games you are playing is completely optional.

Edit: Picture of part of what battle.net is trying to accomplish:

I remember reading you had to be mutual friends to see each other in different games.

I know I was, and I believe the OP also, was referring to other players. So yeah, take the stupid out of your mouth and try to behave like a respectable human being.

Misunderstanding = stupid now? Yeah, I think we can all see who has the real lack of intelligence here.

C. Run around. D. Desert you.
E. None of the above.

Maybe I just haven't looked too hard at the whole battlenet thing, so maybe I am missing something..... but you don't seem terribly concerned that blizzard has your WoW account name. As I understand it the new battlenet account is the same thing, just globally for all blizzard games.

If you have to insult someone to make your argument, you have already lost.

I think his consurn isn't blizzard tracking him but other users. I cant see them doing it this way, but lets say I make a lvl one alt on Wildhammer and add you as my friend. Now I go back onto my main and I can get in-game updates that you move onto an alt on another server. I also get notified you left WoW and now have logged into SCII.

My guess on how this will work is a battle net friends list were you must confirm a user before they can see you via battle net, very similar to how xbox live works and steam.

But if you add your guild members to your battle net friends list I can see a player get "come tank for us" wile playing SCII down the road.

It's more or less the same thing. There are however mandatory security questions, in case someone gets your email/password, they still won't be able to reset the password/ownership of the account without knowing the answer to your secret questions. Of course if you have multiple accounts, they can "hack" all of them with the same email/password now.

I'm good at telling emotion through text too.

Should I have added "lol" or "XD" at the end of my post so you could understand it better?

A more definitive answer:

http://us.blizzard.com/blizzcon/recaps/battlenet-panel.xml?rhtml=y

Q u o t e:
What is the Real ID feature?

Real ID is at the forefront of online gaming as it will allow you to easily connect, communicate, and play with real-life friends. Connect with old friends and current guildies, and make new friends with the integrated Battle.net social networking tools. Beyond simply seeing your friend’s character names (e.g. “Gorlac” in World of Warcraft or “Snip3r” in StarCraft II), and having to remember which character name goes with which friend, you will be able to see your Real ID friend and chat with him or her across Blizzard games. What’s more, Real ID is totally optional -- the options are there for you to build your Blizzard Entertainment social network however you see fit.

Just to clarify, I don't care if Blizzard has my info. I care whether crazy obsessed stalker guy can follow me to a new server, character, or game thanks to this new system.
