Q u o t e:
I suggest you google "Rebecca Schaeffer".
Again with the mistaking a video game for real life. Here are some notable differences: He knew her name, he knew what she looked like. Unless you go about posting your real name, address and pics of yourself while playing WoW, this will never happen.

but this new system will track you by your name http://us.blizzard.com/blizzcon/_images/coverage/panels09/battlenetfaq/007-WoW-Friends.jpg

Q u o t e:
This is the concern.
Your answer is in the picture you just linked. Keyword: "available". As in not "mandatory".
Look at it this way: When you make your character, do you call it by your real name? No? Then why would you use your real name in this? Because it's called "RealID" you're forced to use your real name?
You aren't. You could call yourself Generic Bob if you wanted. There is no magic voodoo in which Bnet will somehow figure out your real name and plaster it there.
Like I said: blowing stuff waaaaay out of proportion.

Q u o t e:
I give up..... *sigh*
Can't fix stupid
Yes, it's easier to call me stupid than to prove your point. Because you can't. Unless you yourself give out your info, there is no way this makes you less safe than you currently are. Except in game. Where someone can throw out nasty emotes at you. Until you use the built in ignore function...

The ability to ignore someone doesn't excuse harassive behavior.
Now I ride with the mocking and friendly ghouls on the night-wind, and play by day amongst the catacombs.... I know that light is not for me.

Hey Gnoob... actually you're wrong. There are people out there. While most compromises are through methods you mentioned, mine was not. Not common, but does happen.

That's what they all say. They did not gain access to your account just through guessing your username and password. They did not use a bruteforce attack to crack your account. One way or another you gave them access to your account.

Q u o t e: Enter battle.net. WoW and SDXXX will be under one battle.net account. You play WoW. Your brother/sister tries to play SDXXX. Guess what will happen.
Absolutely nothing negative. Both games will be able to be played at the same time. Just as I have two accounts linked to one Battle.net account now and can log into both of them at the same time and dual-box. If I want to play SCII or D3 while sitting in Dalaran I can. Nothing about Battle.net will currently prevent that.

Q u o t e: A few questions about the new system I need answered please:
-Will the various cross character/game features of this new system let anyone see a person's other characters and what we're doing, or only those people we want to see these things?
-Can people track us from one game to another without our OK?
-Can they track us from one WoW character to another?
-Do we retain control over who we let track us?
Please let the community know these things, there are genuine safety issues at stake in this for some people, not just paranoid fantasies about conspiracies to wring extra money from people or account hacking. I checked the FAQ's, if these questions have been answered, just point me towards them.
Thank you.
The main answer it sounds like you are looking for is that we are aware of your concerns and there will be features that require people being on your friends list to function.
More information will be out regarding the new Battle.net system as the features become available in the future.
