Hey, I'm working on a guide for the raiding rogues, from specs to addons and interface, trying to cover as much as possible.

My main issue is the lack of experience with raiding specs other then combat daggers shiv spamming (and I'm not about to argue if its good or not. If you have a fast off-hand, its a blast).
I would like to get some more info on combat swards, combat maces and any other combination that works for you on end game raids.

I believe the math has already shown Shiv is a poor method of dps regardless of poison. I'm sure elitistjerks has info on it.

The only time I use shiv in Kara is putting crippling poison on Moroes' ads and putting wound poison on Illhoof/Julianne... It's extremely situational and not a good source of DPS by any means.

Just think though. If rogues read and follow it there will be this giant suck factor out there that Blizzard will have to make better for the masses of bad players. I'd like to coin that method of thinking as 'the Blizzard logical path to class improvement'.

You shouldn't recommend shiv to anyone. Least of all a noob. My contribution would be don't raid with over 1800 AP, FAR less than 200 hit, and less than 30% crit when you get 10% free from talents. Balance is your friend.

You didn't touch a nerve. You posted a lot of bad info, and that doesn't include all the misnamed items in your blog. I listed a link above. That site has some other links that are handy as well. Telling people to spec a certain build, and then not giving them any info on how to play that build is bad. Telling them to spam Feint is bad. Telling them to use Anestetic Poison is bad. You tell people to not use Deadly Poison. you say Crippling and mind Numbing are good for 5 man, which they really are not. You tell people to use Sneaking Potions.

From start to finish your guide is about 80% wrong.

That's kind of funny because Distract has done the exact same thing for me, and it didn't take up any inventory space or materials to use.

I got the sense you really don't know why rogues are supposed to do things a certain way. That in itself isn't bad if you are trying to learn. Lord knows when I was a nublet of a rogue, I asked plenty of stupid questions. I wouldn't give advice on anything I felt I had a poor understanding of. You however have posted an misinforming blog that no doubt will be ready by a bunch of people here who are clueless, and will start shiv and feint spamming with dual anestetic poison when they play.

You're wasting the energy on feint every time the cooldown is up? YOU'RE GIMPING YOUR DPS. Feint isn't even ON my bars because that's a piss poor way to manage aggro.

anaesthetic poison ONLY REDUCED THREAT CAUSED BY THE POISON and it's a ridiculously low amount. It's horrible and worthless, deadly poison is far superior on the offhand and if you dont have a shaman for windfury, use regular instant on the mainhand.

don't bother writing guides for crap you don't even come close to understanding.

The only time I can recommend a shiv spam:

Sometimes, I put instant poison on the OH for the bog lord trash mobs in SSC. When you get one that is nature vulnerable, then and only then can you shiv spam. It still doesn't always beat the MH dps, but it's competitive.
