I used to think that a good amount of hit raiting for a rogue was around 100 untill my GM told me that it should be up in the range of 200 WITH the percision talent under combat. i am just wonderin how much crit raiting is a good hit rating for raiding

thx

Get hit rating until your chance to hit is 24.6%. Then start working on crit as well.

think about your talent combat potency..

base % chance to give back energy on offhand attacks.. your offhand misses, ALOT.

also consider that your white damage does a HUGE portion of your dps.

If you want to top the charts, stack up some hit just don't let your AP fall stupidly low.

People will tell you.. "oh stack hit over everything else" and "omg hit overated 5 crit is better than 20hit"

the truth of the matter is.. unless you can stack a stupidly high amount of crit right now.. you are much better off getting your hit rating up and letting your combat potency shine.

With 5/5 Precision and 2/2 Weapon Expertise, 308 is the Hit Rating cap. If you are Human or have items with Weapon Skill stats, then that cap will be lower for you. As a raiding Rogue, you should try to increase your Hit Rating to get as close to that value as you can without gimping your other stats. The better your Hit Rating, the more effective your proc/haste abilities will be.

For Rogues looking to quickly improve their Hit Rating and AP, you can use the following charts:

PVE Rogue Starter Gear
http://shadowpanther.net/starter-pve.htm

Maximum DPS Chart
http://shadowpanther.net/armor-max.htm

Using those charts, and the proper gems and enchantments, a Rogue can reach 275+ Hit and 1500+ AP with all pre-Heroic/pre-Karazhan gear, as seen in this profile:

http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Earthen%20Ring&n=Psychotrance

S2 MH >>> S2 OH >>> S2 Armor

If your MH < 90 DPS skip the S2 OH and wait for the S2 MH!

Not to derail, but OP you need to work on your hit and AP, as well as respeccing (at least in my opinion) to drop murder and get Ruthlessness/Relentless Strikes - they are HUGE sustained DPS boosters.

Holy crap. 6 months is a good one.

Well for your hit rating..... the kara, gruuls and Mag's gear will get you most of the hit you need to proceed. so you might think about stacking more +4hit +4 agil gems instead of the +8 hit so you don't gimp your crit/ap to much... but as for post kara, gruuls and mags gear you will want to stack the +8 hit gems because the gear you get form there will buff all your other stats and gimp your hit rating. ( the exceptions will be to fill very nice socket bonuses and your meta of choice)
To sum it up Mag's below you will want to go hit/agil but for Tk up you will want to go for more +hit cause your gear will provide the crit and ap you need. (this does not apply to T6 gear, that is a whole different story)
