No, it just means they wont be under the control of Arthas anymore. Just like the foresaken. Likely they will get snapped up by agents of the burning legion however.

Q u o t e: When Arthas is killed in-game does that mean that undead will be no more?...
Interesting concept to think about isn't it? But does killing Arthas really mean the undead cease to exist? They existed when he was just a paladin didn't they?
There are things to ponder here but most importantly...
Does the Lich King cease to be when the vessel is destroyed?

"I meant," said Ipslore bitterly, "what is there in this world that truly makes living worthwhile?"
Death thought about it.
"Cats," he said eventually. "Cats are nice."

Ahh, yes. BUT they only existed because there was another lich king, at the time. Kel'Thuzad.
Soo, i guess.. Nobody knows what happens when he dies? Oh well... Another way for blizz to completely ruin the game/lore/storyline.

Does resolution of storylines cause WoW to shrivel up and die?

Yes he does. Unless there is another vessel capable of containing his essence nearby. Thats the reason he was so freaked out about the crack in his cell. His essence or whatever was leaking out and he was fading away. He needed something to inhabit to survive, Arthas. If it had been as easy as taking over the body of some random cult member, or undead creature, dont you think he would have done it? He could have sent his legions of the undead under kelthuzad to break open his jail cell and taken over one of them instead. Why waste time corrupting a paladin? Only explanation is that only the body of a powerful being, such as arthas, giving himself willingly over to possesion could contain the full might of his power. I guess Kel thuzad just wasnt made up of the right stuff to fill that role.

My guess, which I made when WotLK was announced, is that this is the key. The Lich King will not be dead, and will live on to be encountered in the future, perhaps on his own (Arthas' actions somehow free him?), or through another vessel. The Arthas we kill in WotLK will be little more than a shell.
Never argue with an idiot. They bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Uh.. haven't the Undead / Forsaken technically broken free of his will so his death won't effect us since we're not under his power anymore anyways?!?!?!
