The battle.net account is not free. You pay with your identity. You pay by having adds parade across your screen. Wake up people Blizzard is making money off you by having you do this. WE PAY BLIZZARD, WE MAKE THE DEMANDS, WE PAY, THEY DO, NOT WE PAY AND THEY TELL US WHAT TO DO.

Q u o t e:

As it stands now, if you get keylogged once, your username is out there and since they can then log into your account management page your email address probably is too. You then can't change your username, and are stuck with one that is less secure.

With battle.net you CAN change your email, and the email you use to log in will change. So, if that aspect of security is a concern for you, I suggest using a separate email address that you don't share with anyone and don't really use for anything (making spam a non-issue), and changing it if you get keylogged.

You've got a point and I did think of that. However, it defeats the purpose. I then won't receive blizzard e-mails unless I decide to have them forwarded to one of my active e-mail accounts... which results in spam again.

This is all assuming someone who has been keylogged of course. It's never happened to me. I don't think it ever will because I take many precautions outside of WoW.

The possibility to change the e-mail is definitely nice, but I'd still rather have an actual username on top of it.

You know this isn't the same battle.net, right?

The fact that you need to create a new login should have tipped you off.

You're a lot of DPS, you know that? You wanna' earn 14 achievement points the hard way?

The old battle.net system is totally separate from the new one. Starcraft, Warcraft 2 and 3, and Diablo 2 will all be running on the old battle.net service. Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 will be running on the new one, and WoW will interact with it for certain features.

Can you explain how this works?

You mean I can't just hit Launcher.exe and start playing?

Blizzard I support those who do not want this change.

Stop being so greedy.

This is a thinly veiled attempt to get more money out of this game by putting more adds in our faces.

You already tossed the forums to the wolves by letting outside companies including gold sellers put big ugly banners everywhere.

I do not want cross server chat or any of these other features.

I think you should have fixed issues in game such as instance locks rather than developing these useless ways for gold spammers to spam more chat

I will never test your games for free so keep your beta invites.

I will never buy a single WoW item from your store online.

I do not want battle.net.

I do not want to give you my e-mail address again so you can sell it to some other company to spam me.

Keep your stupid pet.

The pity is that I have only the choice of quitting playing or swallowing your load of filth.

I will consider how I feel on Nov 11 and I have a feeling that I will not be the only one.

They haven't "been developing" this, this was their original server, and while it's seen plenty of upgrades this is their most stable server, and it most likely IS part of the solution to the instance lock problem you're whining about. You have no more chance of getting hacked now than you did before. If your email password is the same as your battle.net password, you really are retarded, and if its not, the worst that could happen to you is spam. And, even assuming, with Blizzard, a multi-billion dollar company, being somewhat liable if you receive spam, if you cant figure out how to successfully set a spam filter, you fail at the internets.

On the other hand

HEY EVERYONE! LETS GO MAKE SEPARATE THREADS TO DISCUSS THIS! BORNAKK WILL LOVE US!

Q u o t e:
You can either put his WoW account inside the current battle.net account. Yes, you will still be able to play both accounts at the same time. Whe you log in to WoW with a battle.net account that contains two or more WoW accounts it will then ask which account you want to play.

Or, you can get your husband his own email account.

Actually, they MUST keep them separate. A husband and wife are NOT allowed to play each others accounts. Merging them both into the same Battle.net account will allow them access to each others accounts and this is against Blizzard's various rules. They just need to create a new e-mail address for one of the accounts and make two Battle.net accounts.

What are you talking about? What adds? I see no adds. And my identity is just fine, thank you very much. I didn't have to give Blizzard any more info than they already had. Except a new e-mail address that goes to nothing.

If you don't want to convert to B.net... don't. These deadlines are a huge joke. What are they going to do, bill you and not let you play? HELLO LAWSUITS.

They are NOT going to throw out tons of subscriptions of lazy/out of town/whatever players for this.

I believe your confusing the old battle.net system with the new one. The new system doesn't work the same way as the old one.

I hope you will send an e-mail to everyone of your customers because not everyone read the forums and many of them might get screwed up on November 11, 2009.

Information has been posted about this conversion process on the forums, the in-game message of the day, as well as the breaking news so far and it will be there for the next 30 days. We will continue to focus on making this information as public as possible to avoid any confusion.

Just based on this thread, I'm guessing word-of-mouth will help it spread quickly too.

True. Of course you could have Blizzard e-mails directed to a separate folder. Yahoo lets you do this, at least, I've been using it for so long I'm not sure about other email systems.
