I been waiting for my pet came on everyday. i made my account battle.net when they first started it so i got a head start on this so i don't have to waste time to go threw all the stuff to do it again no its not a lot of steps just was annoying to do but its worth it if you still want to play WoW and want the new pet.

People may call me a noob but when it comes to noobs... your the one to talk..

Give it time. Its probably going to take a bit to process everyone's account.

I assumed that would be the case, I just read at first as "they should all be there"

Can we get an achievement for this, please?

It seems to me since its a ONCE IN A LIFETIME thing, that it should probably be a feat of strength.

Also, the penguin reward is just awesome; you are doing something not just for yourself but for Blizzard!!!

So, FEAT OF STRENGTH!!!!

Well, everyone is responding to how the new battle.net account will not require any information that Blizzard does not already have... well that is not true unless you have a relatively new account.
I just looked at what they require and they are asking for far more detailed profile info then I originally entered. (Especially regarding address and phone numbers.) I went back to my original account to be sure I had not just forgotten that I did give them this info... and low and behold! A lot of blank tabs that are now starred as required info! This means that I will indeed have to give new info. Even if I just want to change or upgrade my current WoW account. And with a clause that states they can give any of my personal information to anyone they wish... this bothers me. Even my e-mail does not have my exact address! Why do they need that? Why should they care what street I live on unless someone else (IE a 3rd party is paying them for that info?

Blizz need to hold this off until Novemember, A lot of people created accounts and have tried to get the verifactation email but havent I myself am expierencing this problem. Also on the tech support forums theres a thread about a account getting incorrectly merged with another players account and now the player that was trying to merge has all her chars and stuff deleted. They either need to solve these problems or delay this.

Again, this is absurd. As recent as a year and a half ago, Blizzard required you to enter your registered phone number *and* your e-mail address in order to retrieve your password online- so they've always required that. Pretty sure there was never a way to create a WoW account without entering in something for an address. And Blizzard's not going to sell your info.

Now I'm not sure what clause you're to which you're referring:

Section 4: The Ownership Clause, which states all the information relating to the game is Blizzard's Section 5: Establishing an Account, which states you'll be required to give and keep updated your account information
Section 7: No Ownership Rights, which state you don't "own" the account

I mean, I could go on, but pretty much all the ToU says is that you've got to give contact information, the game and all ideas in it are theirs, they can pull your chat log or computer data... but nothing about "all your personal info are mine, we sell now."

That's just an irrational line of thinking. And I'm pretty sure against federal law- though I'm certainly not an expert- but I'm pretty sure their are privacy regulations against that.

And nevermind that they've been operating World of Warcraft since 2004 without any issues of selling anyone's information.

I firmly believe what Blizzard has always stated... if someone knows personal info which they shouldn't, it's not because Blizzard gave it to them.

The merge confusion problem you're citing isn't an issue with Battle.Net. It's an issue with people's account being hacked.

All you need to know to link your account to a Battle.net account is your WoW login name and password. So, if some gold farmer got that info because someone tried to log into a "check out this site for free beta info" website that Blizzard has repeatedly said isn't legit, or responded to a phishing e-mail that clearly isn't legit... then yes, someone got enough information to link them to Battle.Net.

You know the only way to keep someone from linking your WoW account to their Battle.net account? Do it yourself first.

I made my account almost 3 years ago now... so a year and a half is relatively new in view ofhow long this game has existed... Also to quote the new Terms of Agreement...

"WE ALSO RESERVE THE RIGHT, AT ALL TIMES AND IN OUR SOLE DISCRETION, TO DISCLOSE ANY USER CONTENT AND OTHER INFORMATION (INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION CHAT TEXT, VOICE COMMUNICATIONS, IP ADDRESSES, AND YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION) FOR ANY REASON,"
(11.E)

Yes, it is meant for legal issues, but it completely unlimited if they so choose.

And I still see no reason for anyone on-line to have my streeet address. State, county, even town, fine... but my street?! And what if I have no phone? It is possible these days, believe it or not, to use only the internet to talk with others and the Internet does not have to come through a phone line...

The in-game penguin pet is now available. If you have already converted your account, when you log in you should receive a special something in the mail. If you are already logged in you will have to log out and log back in to get the pet.

Q u o t e:
I've used my battlenet account to log into WoW when they offered the mountain dew pet.
I have an authenticator. I keep my PC clean, use firefox with noscript, etc.

I will enjoy all the functionality of the new battlenet when I play SC2, D3 and WoW.
This just adds to my enjoyment of Blizzard products. I now can lose my D2 Cds without having to worry about buying new ones if I want to reinstall it and play.

I am sorry that people forget that Blizzard is just creating a better game experience and feel that it's the Illumanti trying to take over everything.
You are a rarity then.

Might I inform you and all the brown-nosers that most people who have an account don't even visit or post on the forums, or post so rarely that no one would recognize them?

Do you know that most Americans also don't keep their computer secure, and are often missing at least of one vital security program of the following? (Firewall, anti-virus, anti-spyware)

Do you also know a large majority of not only America, but the world a computer illiterate? Most don't even bother to come and find this one topic, read through 80 pages, and expect to know that they should create a seperate e-mail for their account. Hell, there are still people who don't even know they can HAVE two e-mail accounts.

And do you also know that the majority of the people who play this game are also American?

Telling us all to get an authenticator, get a seperate e-mail, and blah blah blah doesn't seem to do a whole lot of good right here then, does it? You're not going to reach a whole lot of people here, actually.

Good college courses tell you that development is roughly 2/3 MAINTENANCE and 1/3 FEATURES. Blizzard, I would LOVE for you to stop developing new features for ONE PATCH and make up for the lost time.

As a side note to everything, how come as soon as I created an e-mail address and opened a battle.net account, it started to get spammed with fake wow messages from disreputable people? Go here, send password, etc.

No way ANYONE other than Blizzard should know this account at all, and there was no "hack" on the PC. So, was this random, or perhaps some data was sold to a bidder? Just wondering if anyone else got blitzed like that?

If you merge with one email acc and decide to change your email to a different one what happens then?

And Seyfert I'm sure its no coincidence that you were spammed once you merged. If only you and Blizz know your new email you have to admit something fishy's going on. I haven't received a single email from Blizz or anything related to WoW since I started playing so I'm gonna be pretty pissed if spammers get a hold of my new email.
