Q u o t e:
I am automatically resistant to something that is shoved down my throat, which complicates what I know or makes me change what I am used to doing. Thus, the forced changed to a Battlenet account , is such a thing, and seeing that banner on loggin made me see red. In addition, I don't play any other games that Blizzard provides, nor do I wish to...further, I don't wish to pay to subject myself to unwanted unsolicited marketing messages which will surely be an inherent part of the Battlenet process.

/sigh

This really is incredibly sad. If you do not want to use any of the extra features, then don't. After you do the short conversion, you will notice NO DIFFERENCE if YOU choose not to use any of the new stuff. There is no new marketing. Everything is fine. The world is not exploding. Well, ok, the world is going to explode, but not for several more months! I mean, c'mon, Deathwing isn't back yet!

Decreased security because now a hacker just need one set of credentials to hack all your associated games on battlenet

Merging your account on battlenet seems like asking for trouble.

I could careless about cross realm chat or cross game chat anyway. I keep to myself and play the game. When I need to I join groups for quests. It's a waste and I feel I pay enough to play wow so I don't want any added charges. As I said before ridiculous.

If you have gone and gotten yourself a keylogger, they already have all your credentials anyway.

You're a lot of DPS, you know that? You wanna' earn 14 achievement points the hard way?

Can we get an out of game chat client that integrates with the upcoming cross-realm/game features?

Q u o t e:

Context is EXTREMELY important. Jay Wilson was talking at a Diablo panel. Diablo, currently, is FREE to play over Battle.net. Diablo 3 likely will require a fee to play over Battle.net. WoW already requires a fee to play.

Your WoW subscription fee will NOT go up because of the Battle.net account!

And I wasnt just talking about WoW, I am really looking forward to playing Diablo III and now I am concerned that there might be added costs. I am also talking about the people who accuse those who arent accepting of the battle.net merger of being babies and cheap because they do not want to incur added costs from the games they already play. If blizzard were so sure that battle.net was secure they wouldnt offer authenticators to provide secure log ins... And asking people to purchase these things in order to maintain security is just asinine

I have been reading the forums reguarding the change over and I have found nothing on the use of authenticators. I have seen way to many people hacked, and all thier items stolen, sold and gold taken. Will the authenticators still work with battle.net. And for the record, when I signed into here to post, it did NOT ask me to authenticate my sign in. I do not like that at all.

What about people whom do not have they keys for wow tbc and wotlk ? how do we merge with bnet?

It works the same way, it isn't specific to Wrath of the Lich King accounts.

Q u o t e:
Also what if you changed your email and forgot the password to the email that your wow account is linked to ? Are we just screwed?

You can try going to your Account Management page to use the tools there to recover the password or visit our Billing and Account Services page for more information: http://us.blizzard.com/support/index.xml?locale=en_US&gameId=11&rootCategoryId=2317

Q: Will my Blizzard Authenticator still work?
A: Yes. If you use a Blizzard Authenticator, you will need it when merging the associated World of Warcraft account into the new Battle.net Account. The Authenticator will automatically transfer to the Battle.net Account during the merge process, and you will still need it when managing Battle.net Account information and logging in to the game. For more information on the security benefits of the Blizzard Authenticator, visit http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?articleId=26108.

BUY AN AUTHENTICATOR YOU CHEAP WHINERS!

So are saying they are forcing people to do this to sell more authenticators? Ie, a move to make more money ?

The problem is that we don't have a choice.

It is like if I went to see a baseball game, and in the ninth inning they decided I need to change my seat. I like my seat. I don't want to change. Essentially they are saying to me, give up your seat and sit in our new seating area or GTFO. But I already paid for my ticket, I already have a seat, I want to see the rest of the game but I don't want to pay to do things the way they want. I want to do things the way I want when I am paying.

Do you have a good argument for why I should have to pay to do something I don't want?

I don't want to quit WoW. I like WoW.

I just don't want to sign up for this battle.net thing.

Anyone who argues against me can pay a months subscription fee for me when battle.net screws up
sound good?

Are you Blizzard fanboys so sure that there will be no problems you are willing to guarantee me that you will pay if their system does not work?

I didn't think so.

I'm sorry that you feel that increased functionality and improved game play is unwanted, but you must realize that you are likely to be in the minority. Blizzard is committed to improving their games and their systems and this is part of that process. If you do not wish to partake of any of the new features, you do not need to. After you do the Battle.net conversion, you will not notice any difference in your WoW gameplay if you choose to not use any of the new features when they are implemented.

then be smart!

Tie a "Junk" Email Address to your account. That email will only be used as your Account Name, and receiving Emails from Blizzard, regarding your account

You will use your "real email" for real emails, I guess.

Then, buy an authenticator.

Q u o t e:

What loss of freedom? If anything there is options with battle.net then with the old system. (Beta Opt-in, One Log in for Multiple Accounts, etc..).User name and Password are still required to log in, except now the username is an e-mail address.

The freedom to say no.

Q u o t e:

Furthermore there is no decreased security. Its just as secure if not more so then it was before. The only way someone is going to figure out both the e-mail and password is if "YOU" give them the means to find it or give it to them yourself (which no security system can cover for stupidity).

Bla bla. Before I had different login names, now I have one (the email). That's reduced security.
