Rarely do I find official responses from Blizzard staff to the myriad of threads on the forums. There are alot of pure QQ/Troll threads, granted, but all-in-all as a regular forum reader I see a preponderence of legitimate questions, ideas, and calls for clarification go unaddressed.

Blizzard is hardly a "shoestring" company. They are making a fortune on this game we all love, and while I don't begrudge them this, would it hurt to hire a knowledgeable staff member to log on and have a look at a handful of threads per hour and lend whatever answers they could?

To be honest, like certain other WoW players in the community, I can and do post replies to dozens of threads in a short span of time. Can Blizzard not also do this? I find their lack of prescence disturbing.

Were I a Blizz employee, I wouldn't mind such a task. I would think it important to have quality discourse with your fans/gamers. Also, Blizz might find that WoW players may actually have something to offer in terms of developmental context ideas and solutions for certain issues.

The WoW community is a smart, dedicated one. I, for one, would like to see some of that dedication reciprocated, and not just in the bottom-line development of the game world itself, but also in reaching out to the buying public for interaction and ideas.

In short, is more forum participation too much to ask, all mighty Blizz?

And yet most of the threads here are completely the opposite. Which is primarily why they don't post much, aside from time constraints.

Disgaree with both of you. I do think the WoW player base is smart, and I also read alot of threads I personally think are decent. Sorry if my optimism offends.

While I agree that there should be more attention paid to ideas and such on forums, if a blue posts something, it's taken as gospel truth. For instance, lets say I have a really great idea that I post, and a blue responds telling me it's a good idea, and they'll look into it.

Six months(or two weeks depending on the person) later when nothing else has been said about it, I start QQing because they promised me that they would implement my idea. Regardless of what they actually said I leave with a bad taste in my mouth because I feel like I've been lied to.

The other problem is, there is a lot of stuff going on at Blizzard. It's a very large company. Sometimes the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. If someone officially says something that doesn't turn out to be true it's bad for business. These forum trolls can hold on to things for a long time.

Not to be a hotline to Blizzard.

That being said, there are new posts from Blizzard reps here daily. Some informative, some joking around with the forum audience. It's a game forum. A place to have some fun.

The Customer Service forum is really the only forum that's really here to ask Blizzard reps questions. And it's where the GM department answers questions about in-game issues.

Okay, I'm done.

Blizzard doesn't like answering "hot button" issues because no matter what they say, they know there are going to be people who will take it the wrong way. Most of the times, the players resolve disputes among themselves. In the cases of glaring issues and things of immediate concern (people speculating that the Battle.net system might not be secure) the Blues will respond to that.

They're forum moderators and community managers. They're always present, but sometimes not seen. You don't see forum mods tending to every little thing on other sites, and WoW is no exception.
