IMO, cross-realm pugs only encourage ninjas and overall rude behavior

Because we don't have that on our own servers already, right?

Fear not my comrade! For I understand your point with all sincerity. One of the major points of an MMO to me is the fact that you are in a fantasy world crafted of other people, but if those people are as unpredictable and here and gone as they will be in LFG, then your server goes from a community to being a big waiting room.

Nothing more than a lobby as you wait to join a group composed of players you'll never meet again. Who will most likely roll need on everything, because you'll never met them again.

That's only true if your entire existence in this game is running heroics, unable to progress to anything better.

Hey, don't counter his points! He's under the illusion that shouting "SO AND SO IS A NINJA!!!!" in trade chat will actually be remembered on a server for more than... two hours.

There's a certain individual on my server who ninjas regularly in Archavon, OS, etc. as he forms PUGs and masterloots items to himself. Spreading the word on trade chat or forums is inefficient and doesn't stop ninjas from getting groups. Cross-realm LFG won't be any different.

Q u o t e:
Am I reading this correctly? They are implementing cross-server grouping for heroics?

Am I the ONLY one not happy about this?

I've watched the community of WoW deteriorate since launch, first with Battlegrounds ridding world PvP. Then we had cross-server Battlegrounds, ruining any sense of personal PvP. And now we are getting cross-server heroics, ruining ANY feeling of local community we have left.

I enjoy playing with other players, obviously. But this is almost too much I think. I will never know who is going to be good in a group, who is going to lock me out of the instance by leaving early.

I understand the reasoning for this, it's to fix wait times due to server imbalances. Is this REALLY the best method, however?

Why don't we just merge all the servers together, ala Guild Wars style. Everything can be instanced. Would work just the same as what we're heading towards.

Personally I think its a great idea. Especially on low pop servers. I'm not to sure if technically merging all the servers is a good idea or even possible. As for never knowing who is good in a group etc if you do not already have this problem then you must have a great guild. I usually heal heroics and I pug it usually 90% of the time. Not knowing how good my dps and tanks are is a regular problem. Blizz cross server LfG is a great idea and finally I will not have to wait 5 hours to get a group on my alts.

Why have realms at all? How about if everyone plays on one big realm.

More Ninjas to deal with, great!

Oh really like we don't already have ninjas on our existing realms. Why do you seem to think that every cross server group is going have Ninja's? And besides why don't you just watch the need / greed rolls. If someone rolls need for an item that they should not roll on just roll need yourself. Problem solved.

I don't see how this will help, as every single server I play on has "lf2m daily heroic, tank and heals". This won't magically manifest more tanks and healers.

The only thing that hasn't changed over the years is knowing the terrible guilds to avoid pugging their members. This is what will be lost.

You're free to not go out of server for heroics.

For the rest of us who do not personally and emotionally bond with each and every one of our group members during the heroic daily, we can utilize cross-server LFG.

However, the process of kicking a ninja and inviting a new member will also be less painful.

You just go ahead and think that. If you think competing with all the other DPS on your realm for tanks and healers is bad, wait until you have to compete with all the other DPS in your battlegroup.

If you aren't on the same server as someone, there is even less incentive to act like a decent person. Go to any Battleground for five minutes if you don't believe me.

Thanks for illustrating that people will act like jerks on the internet for no reason other than the fact that they can. Yes, people do this already in pugs, but it will only get worse.

I am not under the impression that shouting ________ IS A NINJA will accomplish anything, nor did I ever state that in the first place. But when someone acts like a prick in a group, I know to remember them and avoid them at all costs in the future. But if I even have the option to add such players to my ignore list (not sure if you can put players in same BG but different server on ignore, don't think you can though), how full is my list gonna be when I have to list jerks on several realms, not just one?

The reason ppl complain is that even if they choose to opt out, they will eventually be forced to opt in. I pvped a lot back at 60, and cross realm bg's definately killed off a certain aspect of my server's community when it was released. Being on a med-pop server, we used to have 1-2 pvp guilds for horde and ally, but the changes in honor and cross realm bg's killed that completely. Now all you do is pug and afk for honor (not saying the old honor system was better, but it had more of a community aspect to it).

I will personally still try and focus on doing instances in guild and with friends. Most pugs are terrible anyway.

Q u o t e:

Kite the warrior you say? Well, unless one has a mage or hunter on the team, kiting a warrior is like kiting a pissed off bear.

We are working on a system to allow cross-realm grouping, yes, as we have regularly seen complaints in the past regarding players having a hard time finding a group for the dungeon they want to run. We have seen a lot of success with the cross-realm battlegrounds and want to apply that to dungeons as well. While the current LFG system works alright, it's not really intuitive so a lot of players just avoid using it all together.

We are still working on ironing out the details of this new system and plan to provide a more comprehensive breakdown on it in the future.

Most of the issues that players feel this will cause are things that are already happening to some degree and we will monitor the situation and make changes as needed.
