Hits for 3.4k on PTR? is this a joke? Seriously? That's my highest I could manage to get, If its meant to stay like this please reconsider the rune cost of using this ability or else im going back to the obliterate unholy spec.

Also on PTR I'm missing a chunk of attack power, in all my PVP gear.

4445--> 4193, where did it go?

secondary effect isn't working, with a 3k strike it should "really" be doing 5250.

I think you deserve a little credit. No one's ever dodged that shot of mine.. But nobody gets lucky twice, either!

so on Live I go from... 7400ish + Strikes too.... 5200 ones? I'll just stay with obliterate i guess. :/ It scales better anyway.

The secondary effect is bugged, but the main strike is dealing normal damage.

I'm still missing about 2-3 k damage even if you add the bugged damage in, and thats on targets with 0 resilience unless target dummy's have an abundance of it now.

This change will put death knights back to Olbiterate-unholy.

Like as if death knights weren't doing bad enough as 2% in top already.

Could someone sorta enlighten me why a redesign on scourge strike was necessary to this extend?

We don't know how the mechanics are meant to work yet. Relax for the time being. If GC comes out and explains it and it comes out as a nerf, that's when we throw a ***!-fit.

Shut up.

Necrosis has always done 1 damage on target dummies. Scourge Strike tacked on damage will be the same.

We don't know that yet.

Scourge Strike generates more RP than Obliterate (as Unholy spec), but (allegedly) deals less damage than Obliterate.
Obliterate deals more damage than Scourge Strike, but generates less RP.

If an Unholy switches to Obliterate and loses so many potential Death Coils from the lower RP production*, then Scourge Strike would still be the better choice, since you're looking at total DPS and not per-strike damage.

Yes, Obliterate may be your go-to guy in PvP when you need to maximize your damage dealt within so many strikes, but if both Obliterate and Scourge Strike have the problem of never having any diseases to scale with due to PvP dispels, then the fallback is still going to be Icy Touch and Death Coil spam.

* The value of the Death Coils is muddied further by the nerf to Unholy Blight

Necrosis deals full damage to the level 83 target dummy, so long as it still has hit points.

It's going to be awhile before the math shakes out. As terrible as the new SS sounds I can see it beating Oblit for Unholy just because of the archaic Annihilation tax preventing you from spending your points more efficiently in Blood. The waters are growing muddy indeed.

Shut up.

So someone could test it vs a player or creature?
I did. The first thing i did when i was getting 4500 crits on the test dummy was goto Icecrown and beat up on some creatures. It crits for the same whether or not you have 3 dots up or no dots up so it's pretty much either a bug or they haven't implemented the change fully yet. Also the tooltip still reads the same as live.

On a target dummy, that is pathetic.

I am reserving final judgement on this as it is still early but these initial reports are pathetic if true.

The only question I have to ask now, and i know what the answer is probably gonna be, but were you fully specced for SS when testing on the ptr?

PTR, bro.
Report first, QQ later.

In other words, present the issue with your opinion (aka feedback) at hand before judging the change.
As long as PTR is not done, it can change many, many times.

It's looking like SS hits about as hard as BS, but has some mysterious quantity of shadow damage attached that might be as high as about 55-60% of a weapon swing (bugged, currently doesn't show up).

Even assuming they don't get anything wrong with the shadow damage, I'm not sure it's going to be an attractive ability because it'll have partial resists against bosses, and still be affected by armor. At some level of ArP obliterate will be stronger since we're looking at less weapon damage-- 137.5% as oblit vs. 60 (physical) + 56% (shadow, assuming ebon plague and black ice) total of 116% as Unholy.

Q u o t e:
this is a good change lol op dks u need more nerfs!!

Lame Troll is Lame. And Old Season 5 bias is old Season 5 Bias, Unholy was perfectly fine towards the end of Season 6, frost needed its changes, and got them, but currently as the whopping 2% representation we're seeing in 3's and dead last in 5's... we really didn't need any other nerfs, and I don't want to have to AGAIN regear and regem my freaking toon to reflect physical damage with Arpen AND spell pen just to make sure I don't get resisted, and I can actually do damage.

The problem with this change is SS loses a LOT of its synergy with its own tree/spec.

Here's a screen of what I'm doing on PTR, I'm full furious + relentless sword, greatness deck, unholy crusader and the sigil that grants another unholy strength proc ( i.e I get about 6300 AP when its all procted)

http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v234/Brute/?action=view&current=SSPTR.jpg

That's what I'm dealing with all this AP, It's pretty bad. And target dummy's do not pack around 1200+ resil like some healers in 2100 bracket :/ This sucks.

(Also I AM factoring in what the "Bugged" Damage would be if it were to be added in, its a huge damage decrease as to what I'm doing on live.

Base ap on live is 4445 and yet its 4193 on ptr, What was changed? I lost a ton of AP as well.

Here is what I'm doing on live
