I doubt that very seriously. My priest was in lousy Season 2 and three pieces of Season 3 and he did not even switch out a piece until level 77. : /
I don't see it being any different come Cataclysm. Your gear will last a while. Sheesh, just play have some fun and stop worrying about what is going to be replaced. There is more to this game than purples which will ALWAYS be replaced.
How the heck can we maintain any sense of self or self-worth when we aren't in a group.. What? I can't wait to become high enough level to assimilate and become Borg. -Vynesh

And my real response: I was using t6/sunwell gear well into naxx, I'd imagine t10 will last a long time (especially considering the lower level cap).
Also: Gear isn't the only reason to do raids, It will be a great experience, ICC looks epic! Plus, if you're in a guild that does hard modes, you're likely to end up with a super awesome mount or title, those don't get replaced so easily :).

Q u o t e: Why even bother logging in? Every piece of gear you ever get will be outdated eventually.
Do the rest of us a favor and quit.
This.
Q u o t e: the level cap is only going up 5 levels....it wont all be replaced...and probably very little of it from quest blues..none of it from greens..
The "only 5 levels" thing is only visual. Everything else is changing to the same degree.
Shaman are awesome. They can come back from the dead, cure disease, walk on water, and shoot lightning.

It's true that things will continue to change in an ever-evolving massively multi-player RPG like World of Warcraft. By your logic though, there's no point in doing anything in the game since a new means of progression will always present itself further down the road. The point is to focus on having fun experiencing the content available to you at any given moment. I say bother to do Icecrown because the Lich King is one of the biggest names out there, plenty of challenging, fun encounters will present themselves, and players have spent this whole expansion working toward getting into the citadel. Key pieces of the epic storyline of the Lich King and the heroes who are working to destroy him will play out in both the dungeon and raid of Icecrown Citadel. Sounds like fun to me, regardless of what is to come in future expansions.
It comes and it kills, cruising the earth
Attacking your towns as you watch from outside
And no one felt crashes in your hearts...
