Edit : Lore, the whole story behind the guy, in reality the lich king is really disappointing. He always ask subordinates and they fail all the time. Next he runs away...

Edit 2 : Didn't quite understand the question I guess, so my answer would be : Being able to run away, everytime a challenge arise.
