Q u o t e:
General reminder: Things can still change.

The current plan is to make Emblems of Triumph the "base" of emblems so everything that drops Emblems of Conquest would be changed to Triumph and then the new raid content would drop the new highest emblem along with things like the heroic daily and such.

I really do understand that blizz wants to let everyone experience icecrown and such.
What really concerns me about this new trend of skipping tiers is that Blizzard is rendering old tier content obsolete before the next expansion even hits.

We all know everything eventually becomes obsolete, but this is too much. Naxx is completely abandoned, only those that want achievements do it nowadays. With this new change, Ulduar will end up like naxx, and that is a really sad sight to see, Ulduar is such a fantastic raid dungeon.

I hope Blizz decides against this, I really do. Giving late-comers conquest emblems is enough for them to catch up, triumph is over-kill.

I really liked TBC-Style raiding, people were doing Kara/gruul/mags even when BT was out.

People will still run Naxx. For the Triumph Badges. And people can still go back and experience the content if they "choose" to. Nothing is stoping them. The fact that they can get geared quickly and get into the current end game is a good thing. This change doesn't make the other content obsolete. People still run Black Temple, Black Wing Lair, etc.

First, I think blizzard is trying to avoid exactly what you say you liked about BC- that new raiders, and even some experienced ones, were running low-end content the entire expansion, and many players never go to the gear level required to run BT/Sunwell, so they spent much time and effort on desiging raids only a small fraction of the player base would ever step foot in.

Second, requiring people to run low-end content really puts 80s who weren't at level cap near the beggining of WotLK (or at least pre-ToC) at a major disadvantage- they now need to find groups for obsolete content that only elitist gearscore hawks run for badges/achievements. Even without them, most groups don't want to take people with the appropriate gear for an instance (IE half epics/blues for Naxx10) as they want an easy, quick run, and of course, don't want to explain fights. So these players can't get into low-level content to get gear, and not getting low-level gear prevents them from progressing.

They're trying to ensure that alts/new players can gear up and get into the current content with relative ease, or at least relatively quickly, so they aren't designing raids for 10% of the playerbase or less.

Finally, you might want to use a different thread about this, as I know there is at least one more floating around on the first page.

Edit: Actually, I tried to find the other thread I thought existed, and apparently it doesn't exist -.- I just remember this being mentioned in another thread on the first page a few minutes ago, but don't remember if the thread was actually pertaining to this topic itself.

Good, as long as people stop running Ulduar all together, chances are the proto drakes will stay for a bit longer.

Lets be clear; what makes Naxx and Ulduar and eventually ToC obselete is adding a newer, higher tier of content, period. Raising the badge level just means that the obselete content is now OPTIONAL instead of MANDATORY. Optional is pretty much always a good thing.

Pretty spot on.
Unless you levelled all your toons to 80 pre-Ulduar, it's very difficult to get a new 80 into that end game content on crafted and 5-man items. The elitests won't take you because they look at your gearscore before taking into account you maybe a veteran of the instance, and we all know that instance experience trumps gearscore.

It's worse still for someone completely new to the game, they will likely never see end game content, and be lucky to see Naxx/OS at the least due to gearscore scrubs.

They are working on something that may be part of the next expansion, so long as it is up to there standards, that will give more incentive for people to run older content.

YAY ITS RAINING EPICS! And I didnt have to do anything!

I can't afford the time in my life right now to dedicate to raiding, so I accept that I can't/shouldn't have current max tier gear. I do my daily heroics when I can, I get my badges, I get last tier leftovers.

But its hard to feel guilty about it or personally inferior when I know plenty of bads who happen to play a lot and get mostly carried by their guilds to BiS gear.

What's your point, really? That I only deserve to be wearing quest greens and blues if I can't play 15-20 hours a week?

I don't mind someone showing up in full T9 that they got from heroics to my raids.

When they display that they quite simply don't know what they're doing because they've never raided beyond Naxx, they and their T9 will get replaced. Problem solved.

Edit: Meanwhile, I like that my guildmates who have alts that they know inside out...alts that can contribute to raids when we're in a tight spot, have the ability to easily acquire gear worthy of their talents.

I would disagree with you that Naxxramas is abandoned as I see groups forming for it pretty much every day. Sure it is primarily to farm emblems and there is a good chance it is filled with alts, but it is still being run.

As much as the examples from vanilla and TBC may be something you preferred, during this expansion we have been aiming to open up the content to players the whole way through and so far we have received a lot of positive feedback on it (and some negative too) but we are happy with the way it has progressed and look forward to releasing Icecrown Citadel with this in mind.

I gave positive feedback about it!!

Whatcha nay-sayers gonna do about it?? HUH?!!

I love this new Blizzard!!! I LOVE IT!!! I wish you guys were in power during vanilla WoW!!!!

Read signature.

Thank you WoW team! This new direction of a more casual friendly instancing and gaming has surely brought back the smile I enjoyed when I first started playing this game before any raids came out. T

LOL affirmative action raiding.

What's that? Don't want to experience "progression"? Want maximum reward for minimal effort? Don't fret QQcasuals, we'll hand you shiny epics on a silver platter and hand hold you through all the content.

No wonder why half my guild has quit the game since WotLK was released.

Doesn't interfere with anyone's fun, unless you have insecurity issues or for some reason feel the immature need to impress.

I'm sure alot of players are happy about this. Alot of players are not.

At the end of the day, Blizz has a higher priority on keeping the casuals in the game as opposed to the hardcores that are already hooked anyway. All us nerds are hopelessly addicated and we all know that we aren't going anywhere. Blizz knows this too.

Blizz knows that the money is in the casuals and it's made a strategic decision to keep them in the game. Doing a dam good job too.

I don't really care much about the gear, I care about the encounters and facing them with my guild. You can very well have the same gear as me handed out in the mail, you don't know what you're missing by not doing the content.
