The purpose of this guide is to attempt to answer any questions people may have about using the various spreadsheets. I encourage comments and suggestions and will add or alter anything the Rogue community would like to see.

Where are the spreadsheets?

There are multiple spreadsheets available.

Aldriana’s Combat and Mutilate spreadsheets:
http://elitistjerks.com/f78/t39136-combat_3_2_mutilate_3_1_spreadsheets/
To find the most up to date one, I suggest going to http://elitistjerks.com/f78/ and clicking on the red box next to the Combat (3.2.) and Mutilate (3.1) Spreadsheets thread. This will pop up a box with 4 links. The most up to date ones are the beta versions, choose these to download. At the moment the 2 links on the front page are NOT up to date.

Vulajin’s Roguecraft spreadsheet:
http://www.filefront.com/user/Vefnadi
Vulajin's spreadsheet is now being handled by Vef. I have never used this sheet, but for those that follow Vulajin or those that want to check it out, here it is.

Thaela’s Mutilate spreadsheet:
http://elitistjerks.com/f78/t70638-mutilate_spreadsheet/
This is Thaela’s spreadsheet for Mutilate only. It was made while Aldriana was updating his Combat sheet because at the time no big Mutilate changes had occurred. Since the Envenom changes Aldriana has updated his Mutilate spreadsheet and Thaela has said he may stop updating his. I am providing the link anyway for those that use it now or would like to see another sheet.

Mavanas' Spreadsheet:
http://elitistjerks.com/f78/t51449-rogue_dps_simulation_spreadsheet/
This is a spreadsheet by Mavanas, another I have not used much but I know others do. Also worth taking a look at.

Dinesh’s Combat Companion:
http://elitistjerks.com/f78/t63772-combat_sheet_companion/
This is a companion file for Aldriana’s combat spreadsheet. Dinesh has made additions that Aldriana either stated he would not change/add or would not change/add it any time soon since it was not necessary. Check this out AFTER you become familiar with Aldriana’s Combat sheet.

What if I am on a Mac or do not have Microsoft Excel?

http://www.openoffice.org/

All of the spreadsheets, except for Mavanas', can be used with OpenOffice which is a free download. Most Macs come with a version of Microsoft Excel that works while using the OS X operating system.

THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS WILL DEAL WITH ALDRIANA’S SHEETS AS THEY ARE THE MOST USER FRIENDLY AND MOST USED.

If you would like answers to your questions and you use a different spreadsheet, let me know and I will investigate the others and update the thread.

What is the Equipment sheet?

The Equipment sheet is the first sheet you will see when you open the file. If for whatever reason you cannot see this sheet the first thing to do is look on the bottom of the Excel file for a tab named Equipment. If it is there, click on it and it will open this sheet. If it is not there do the following:

Formula (or Format) -> Sheet -> Unhide

A box will pop up with the list of any sheets you cannot see. Choose Equipment from the list and it will open it for you. Ignore the other ones for now.

The Equipment page is where you will go for most of your changes to your gear. The sheet is pretty self explanatory. Any box that is colored can be clicked on and a button will appear for a drop down box.

So the first thing to do is to choose your race. Click on the Race box and the button on the side of it and choose your race from the drop down menu.

The next thing to do is input your Glyphs. On the right hand side is a box for Glyphs. There will be different options in the Mutilate and Combat sheets. The glyphs listed are the best choices. Anything not there is a poor choice and should never be used. Minor Glyphs are not there because none effect our DPS. You can click on the boxes that say Yes or No for a drop down box that has the options Yes and No. Simply click Yes for the 3 glyphs you have and No for the ones you don’t.

Now input your talent points. All of the talent points that increase our DPS are listed. Anything not listed are points that don’t increase our DPS, it is okay to not see them.
If you have a spec that has points in talents not listed on the sheet that DO increase your DPS, it is not listed because your spec is generally not good. All of the boxes with numbers are also drop down menus. You can click them and choose however many points you have in that talent.

Now that you have your Race, Glyphs, and Talents set up it is time to change your gear.

To change your gear, simply click on the colored box appropriate to your slot and choose your item from the drop down menu. If it is not listed it needs to be added which I will go into later. After you choose the gear choose your enchant and gems. You can see under the Optimal column a suggestion on what enchant and gem to use. You can choose a different one if you like and then play with options later on to see what gives you the most DPS. Any gem not listed is not worth using.

The Zone Filters box is for choosing whether or not you’ll have the option of getting gear from that instance. If you cannot do Trial of the Crusader 25 Hard, make sure it says No, and the Suggested Upgrades column will not list any gear from Trial of the Crusader 25 Hard.

The boxes at the top are all self-explanatory. The EP Values cannot be edited and will change as your gear changes. It’s a nice reference to see how much each stat is worth with your current gear.

Now that the Equipment sheet is done, it’s time to move to the Gear sheet.

What is the Gear sheet?

The Gear sheet lists all of the gear in the spreadsheet and has formulas for calculating their DPS using their stats and sockets and whatnot. This is where you will add items if you couldn’t see them in the Equipment sheet.

How do I add gear?

I will use Ice Striker’s Cloak and Hammerhead Sharkskin Cloak as an example.

1) Click on the box that says Hammerhead Sharkskin Cloak. Now go to Insert -> Row. A new row will be added with blank boxes for every column.

2) Now click on the number to the LEFT of Hammerhead Sharkskin Cloak. In my case it was the number 48. If you hover you mouse over the number it will turn into a black arrow. Clicking on the number will select the entire row.

3) Go to Edit -> Copy. Click on the first empty box in the new row you created. Go to Edit -> Paste. You should now have two rows for Hammerhead Sharkskin Cloak with the exact same numbers in the entire row.

4) All you have to do now is edit the stats on the new row. You can rename the box for Hammerhead Sharkskin Cloak to Ice Striker's Cloak. Then just change the numbers in the AGI column, the STA column (stamina) and change the number in the HASTE colum and the AP column. Be sure to delete the number in the CRIT column since Ice Striker's Cloak does not have any crit.

If you need to put in a piece of gear that has a socket repeat the same steps as above but make sure to choose an item already on the list that also has a socket. It doesn't matter what color and only choose an item that has 1 socket if your item also has 1 socket. Then in addition to the above steps do the following:

1) If your item has a yellow socket place a 1 in the Y column. If the item you copied had a red socket or a blue socket delete the 1 in the R or B column.

2) Scroll sideways and find the columns that say S.AGI or S.AP or S.ARP etc. If your items socket bonus is 4 AGI place a 4 in the S.AGI column. If the item you copied had a 5 AP bonus make sure there is no 5 under S.AP

How do I add a weapon?

Work in progress

How do I add a trinket?

Work in progress

Now your item will be listed on the equipment tab. NEVER add an item to the top of the list or the bottom of the list. It requires some extra settings that are unnecessary to go into.

What are the other sheets?

The Settings sheet is where you can choose which buffs will be present in your raid. If you know you wont have Improved FF or Misery make sure the box says No. If you know you wont have a Draenei make sure the box has a 0 and not a 1.

The Races sheet has the formulas for calculating how much DPS a race adds. The Gems sheet lists all the gems and their values, and the Calcs sheet has all the calculations and this sheet should never be messed with unless you know what you are doing.

What if I am an Alchemist?

Currently the sheet has no options for the profession gains from Alchemy. Leatherworking, Enchanting, Blacksmithing, all the other professions have options as enchants and socket and gems. Alchemy has nothing. If you want to see how much DPS being an alchemist will give you simply choose the LW enchant for bracers if you aren’t a leatherworker, or choose the two ring enchants. Choose anything that would give you 80 more DPS. You have to fake the results sicne there is no option for Mixology at the moment.

Q u o t e:
Vulajin’s Roguecraft spreadsheet:
http://elitistjerks.com/f78/t27244-roguecraft_spreadsheet/
I am not familiar at all with Vulajin’s sheet, but he does explain how to use his sheet in the thread. I do not know if the links on the front page are up to date or not. I strongly encourage those familiar with his sheet to give me some input on it so that I may keep this section up to date and accurate.
Vulajin's spreadsheet is currently being updated by Vef and can be found here: http://www.filefront.com/user/Vefnadi

Here's the link for those too lazy to search: http://www.openoffice.org/

Also, you may want to include the Rogue DPS Simulation Spreadsheet by Mavanas which is found here: http://elitistjerks.com/f78/t51449-rogue_dps_simulation_spreadsheet/

All of the spreadsheets can be used with OpenOffice which is a free download, and they all work on Macs, most Macs come with a version of Microsoft Excel that works while using the OS X operating system. If you have difficulties opening a sheet in OpenOffice or on a Mac, I suggest you say so in this thread and others can comment on what to do, and I will update this section with that information. I have never had trouble opening the sheets in any program.

Speaking as a Mac user, the program Numbers should be able to open most, if not all, of the spreadsheets. It comes as a part of the iWork package.

Mavanas' sheet requires Excel. It doesn't work in OpenOffice.

I was attempting to fool around with Mavanas' sheet but it refused to work properly and it took far too long to change one cell and calculate the new numbers. If anyone not on a Mac wants to PM a list of things you want added regarding Mavanas' sheet let me know.
