So I rolled a DK. I just hit level 60, ported to train, hearthed back and was about to get the Flying training when I noticed how cheap it was.

Expert (reg flying speed) only costs me 225G and I'm only Friendly with HH.

Artisan (epic flying speed) costs 4500G.

I could have sworn that Expert costed 600G before, minus rep bonus.

Now is this a special DK price? If so I never would have known because I just started my first one today and I won't feel to dumb. Or did they lower it again in 3.2.2 and just not tell us?

Or am I just going crazy?

But seriouly I would have put money on being 600G for Expert training. I would have been that sure of myself.

Ok I feel I need to clarify seeing as how no one has said anything yet.

I know that in 3.2 they lowered all the costs for Riding training expcept for the epic flying traing and they also made it so you got ground mounts at 20 and epic ground at 40. I also know that the traing was affected by rep bonuses from either HH or Dalaran. The thing is is that I thought they lowered the Expert training down to 600. So now on my DK its less than half that.

So do DKs get a big discount or did Blizz sneak this in on 3.2.2 and just not a lot of people have noticed yet?

Basic Flying used to cost 800, Swift flying used to cost 5000. They did in fact drop the prices- you can also get flying at 60, swift land mounts at 40, land mounts at 20, and if you have a pre-existing 80 you can buy cold weather training as an heirloom item for anyone at least level 70.

Thank you for replying but I actually know all that already. They changed/added all that in 3.2. But I thought in 3.2 they dropped the price for regular flying training to 600G. Now on my DK its only 225G. Believe me I'm not complaining but I just want to know is that a DK price or is that for everyone?

Epic flying costs 5k gold at Dalaran on my mage (Revered with Kirin Tor but I don't think the mount trainer in Dalaran is a part of the the Kirin Tor). 4250 At HH, honored with them.

I noticed those lower prices myself last night. Last week it was 600 gold (minus discounts).
Also, if you go to Dalaran, the original prices still stand (600g and 5kg), but Thrallmar it's 225g and 4.5k (being neutral only).

Ok I dont know why I didnt think to do this before.

I have a level 62 shaman who does not have the Expert training yet. I logged on her, when to HH and checked the training price. Also she is honored with HH while my DK is still only friendly. These are the prices.

Expert: 237G 50S
Artisan: 4700G

I have no idea why it is my expensive for my sham than my new DK. My sham even has a higher rep with HH. Either way I guess I answered myself.

The price after 3.2 was lowered to 600G. By now I'd bet my life on it. Now its even cheaper. More for some classes/races over others and I have no idea why. When the prices dropped again I also have no idea but I guess in 3.2.2 and I just missed it in the patch notes or it was never listed.

Actually I think I'm gonna go over the patch notes again just to make sure.

***EDIT***

Expert Riding (Skill 225): Can now be learned at level 60 for 600 gold from trainers in Honor Hold or Thrallmar. Faction discounts now apply (Honor Hold for Alliance; Thrallmar for Horde). Flight speed at this skill level has been increased to 150% of run speed, up from 60%.
Artisan Riding (Skill 300): Faction discounts now apply (Honor Hold or Valiance Expedition for Alliance; Thrallmar or Warsong Offensive for Horde).

Copy/Pasted directly from 3.2 patch notes. Nothing in the 3.2.2 patch notes about the prices being lowered any further. Maybe this is a glitch or maybe for the first time ever Blizz actually snuck in a stealth buff. Either way go out and buy Expert flying training for your alts while the price is low just in case Blizz didnt mean to do it.

Oh and if a Blizz GM reads this post can you comment on this odd price change at least. I'd love ya for it.

I just looked on my draenei 60 DK, 225/4500. But I just seen something, the flying trainer in honor hold is not part of honor hold's rep, he's listed as stormwind.

They lowered the price again in 3.2.2 because in 3.2 artisan was 4500g at honored with HH it is now 4250g and normal flying is now 225g where as in 3.2 it was 500g.

Also I noticed on my mage it is 4750g however on my priest it is 4250g and they are both honored with HH...so something fishy going on there

You do not get the discount if you buy it at Dalaran since the flight dude in Dalaran is kirin tor and the rep discounts are only honor hold (A) & thrallmar (H) so if you want the discount price you have to go to hellfire to buy flying.

Edit: had wrong patch numbers

The Dalaran trainer is not associated with any faction. So they don't give a discount obviously.

In Northrend I believe the ones in the starting towns though are linked to Alliance/Horde Vanguard and do give discounts based on that rep.

As for the OP... They have reduced it. I just confirmed with a Hunter of mine that hasn't bought flying yet. He is being offered Expert riding skill for 212g50s.

The Discount does seem to be based on STORMWIND rep now not Honor Hold, as that is the faction the NPC is associated with and my Hunter is only Friendly with Honor Hold but is Revered with Stormwind (and 212 seems more likely to be the Revered discount off 250 original price).

I bought my Artisan flying prior to 3.22 and it cost me 4500 gold. I did not gain any rep with Thrallmar ever since and yesterday checking the prices now it cost me 4000 gold instead. I'm honored with Thrallmar and Exalted with Orgrimmar, so I guess the discount now is indeed based on Org instead.

WSG cast ROOF on SHAMAN!
It's super effective!
SHAMAN is stunned!

GRRRR I just paid a little under 600g for expert flying last week. Had they launched the patch a week sooner, I would have saved several hundred gold.

At least a heads up that they were gonna do this would have been nice.

Ok so I guess its pretty much confirmed now. Blizz did seem to lower the prices again and make it so that you rep discounts you get are associated with capital cities and not HH/Thrallmar. This includes both flying mount trainings.

Why Blizz decided to to this I dont know. Why they snuck it in without saying anything I dont know either. I guess I can now work on getting a epic mount now for the few toons I have left who dont have one yet.

Yeah I just saw this posted on mmo-champion but there's weird things going on. Some vendors have the new lower prices, while others have the older higher pricing. It's really odd.

Would be good to see some kind of blue confirmation that this was intended, especially with the pricing being different on different vendors.

Crap, I'd better get my 50's leveled up and send them to Outland before they fix this!

You can't have a race on each faction that looks the same. It'll never happen!

Crap, did I just say it'll never happen? That almost guarantees that it will happen, at a cost of $19.99!

Yes, they lowerd Flying costs in 3.2.2

225 for Reg flying BEFORE FACTION Discount
4500 Epic Flying BEFORE FACTION Discount

These prices are in HH/TM and the NPC's in Dal will rip you off. See MMO-Champion.

Hence why we need a blue confirming which one is correct. Is the HH/TM pricing right, or are they having a blue light special?

No we don't. Its correct, and if it isn't they'll fix it. Meanwhile. Buy it.

Stop stealing out flying mounts with each new expansion! Learn to design so we can keep them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
