Even though I got everything I needed (with many days to spare) I think this is a crappy design decision. Mainly on the grounds of it being a whole other year before it can be visited again.

I would like to see it be tool tipped to explain that the tokens will disappear so there aren't any surprises.

Q u o t e:
If that's for the Meta-achievement, it's no longer necessary to sample each monthly brew. It does suck that you'll have to wait until next year to get Brew of the Month though.

Na if I don't get this then this is my last xpac I will be canceling both of my accounts and moving on. Several guild members had this happen to them as we were all in the same raid and we have been looking to other MMOs to start fresh on. WOTLK has been a terrible xpac for guilds and we are just sick of it and now we cant even get a little fun out of side things without this tremendous hassle.

Q u o t e:

What?! The tokens from last year stayed in your inventory and you could trade them for coins. The npc for the brew of the month club said if you had left over coins that you could turn them in to him. I didn't see anything like in the past that would say they were going to expire (usually there is an expiration timer). I lost over 250 coins if this is true. This was bad planning on your part Blizzard, VERY bad. It looked to me like you intended for us to keep the coins, especially with that npc that's part of the year round Brew of the Month Club talking about left over coins!

EXACTLY I still had tokens from last year on my warrior. This is the first year for tokens disappearing and it is a VERY bad design decision.

Keep in mind that the next xpac promises new things for guilds.

You can't have a race on each faction that looks the same. It'll never happen!

Crap, did I just say it'll never happen? That almost guarantees that it will happen, at a cost of $19.99!

Yea man I don't know if we can hold on that long ya know. This xpac has been such a drag. Things like this that are supposed to be fun and have been nothing but trouble from the beginning are what make me realize the A team is gone from WoW, well hell it was the B team actually were now on the C team of new guys that don't know what is going on and are making poor decisions like taking away things like tokens that players have earned.

You don't gain brand loyalty by taking away things from players.

My guild doesn't need those tools to keep the community together it would just be a good feature(s) to have but considering every other MMO with those features, WoW is still a day late and a dollar short and doesn't offer half of other MMOs guild support, even considering Cats plans.

Q u o t e:
There has been a change to the way holiday tokens and items work. If an item's tooltip says it requires that holiday, that means it will remain as long as the holiday is up and will automatically disappear from your inventory when the holiday ends. That tokens are included in this is intended.

Remember that your in-game calendar will tell you the precise time when the holidays begin and end in server time, so if you're uncertain if you're going to have enough time to complete things in the future, make sure to check your calendar.

That is extremely lame and a poor and pointless decision on the developers' part, IMO.

Born to bear and bring to all the details of our ending, to write it down for all the world to see... but I forgot my pen.

HRmm... Yea, I bought all the stuff I wanted and got the achievement, but I had worked for about 50 extra coins, since I figured that I'd be able to keep them. Saw the "Requires Brewfest" tag and thought, "Well, I guess that just means I can't use them 'till next Brewfest". I thought wrong.

Probably could've been handled better than this.

Alright... things like this make it VERY hard to follow your forum code of conduct but I'll do my best, and STILL try to convey just how very ANGRY I am right now....

First off, I'd like to point out that this is a GAME, not a life, or a career. You hear about people all the time getting addicted and wasting their lives away playing games. And MANY MANY MANY times I've seen Blizzard strongly discourage getting too wrapped up in the game. And then you do something like THIS.

I am NOT one of those people.
I have a life, and I have a family that I have to provide for, which means I WORK. AND I have friends outside of this game that if I wish to keep, I have to spend time with.

That being said:
You hold an event that is supposed to be FUN.
Brewfest. An event that you can only completely accomplish by doing "DAILY's".

Which means:

1) You're FORCING people to play at a certain time in order to accomplish the goals of an event that is supposed to be fun. At least in other events I can repeatedly try to do the same thing and even though I only have a 2% chance, I could try, and try, and try on the day I had off of work and usually walk away with my hard earned prize. NO NO, NOT HERE!!! I thought at the VERY least you could have done repeat BARREL runs. It's a MEASLY 2 coins a barrel!! Heck, lower it to ONE coin a barrel, but let me do it repeatedly. I don't mind putting the time in, but the time I put in should be WHEN I CHOOSE.

2) It's Hypocrisy at it's best, "Please don't waste your lives playing our game..."
.... just be sure to play our events for 2 weeks straight everyday to get the fun prizes....

3) The ONE saving grace that kept me from getting upset about the event, was that even if I didn't get everything this year, I could try again next year with the coins I had collected and I wouldn't have to do so much work. Sure, I'm behind everyone else but really, I'm no worse for the wear.
At least, not UNTIL YOU TRADED IN MY TICKETS FOR COINS, THEN TOOK MY COINS AWAY!! So, now I have NOTHING. Game over, start again next year, bend over to receive your prize!!

So that's my understanding of the situation, if you're an upstanding citizen, and you go to work everyday, and you have a family to provide for, then Blizzard doesn't care about you. IS THIS WHAT YOU'RE TRYING TO SAY BLIZZARD!? If so, message received loud and clear!

Now just so you know this isn't coming from just any old hothead:
I'm an avid play player and a collector of the game. I've been playing since the game was in it's BETA. And you can check my battlenet account, I'm a HUGE supporter of your games and I enjoy them immensely. You guys have done ALOT of FANTASTIC work. But NEVER have I been so angry with your decisions. I play games to have fun and relax and I've given you(Blizzard) a substantial amount of my hard earned money... THAT'S NOT ENOUGH!!??

Now I'm sure this is NOT the message you're trying to convey, and I'm hoping this is merely an issue of poor planning. I'm not asking much, I JUST WANT MY HARD EARNED COINS BACK.

Show me and everyone else that the hard work we WERE able to accomplish for the event wasn't for NOTHING. Show us that even though we have jobs, families, and can't play like a 14yr old kid on summer vacation doesn't matter to you.

Return the coins, it's the right thing to do. (Or I'll be forced to offer my services to Arthas...)

Thank you for your time, I hope my voice doesn't fall on deaf ears.

That information would of been a little more helpful in advance, I had 150 tokens left on my pally and nothing I really wanted to spend them on so I decided to save them for next year. Had I known they would of poofed into thin air I would of at least spent them on the stupid romance goggles.

We have no plans to restore the coins. The coins going away was something that happened last year as well, and it was not a bug then, either.

If you're looking to get the meta achievement, it does not require you to spend every day doing the dailies, or even half the days of the event. Yes, it will require some dedication, but if you do not have the time to spend to get all the achievements in one year, that's perfectly understandable; the holiday will be there next year, and you can focus on different goals.

Wow. Really? I turned in TICKETS from two years ago ('07) for coins this year and had over a hundred coins saved on multiple characters for next year. Totally lame change. I would have bought a hat or something on a lowbie. Oh well.

I got my brewmaster title, though I did return the boots to the vendor (would have liked to keep them for standing around Dalaran though). I also picked up a pink elekk and a pony keg. That isn't the point; I just don't understand the reasoning behind deleting them. The developers could have just left well enough alone, but it seems to me they went above and beyond to grief us.

People had tokens from last year. Your npcs could transfer tokens to coins. You had npcs talking about left over coins.

Blizzard, I am sorry but you don't just delete peoples items that they worked for with no warning when you've made indications ingamr that they could be saved. You've dropped the ball on this BIG TIME. The fact you won't even appologize for deleting peoples items because of an unannounced change that didn't reflect ingame indications tells me you don't care about your player base.

Even if they were practically stolen from me an hour before I expected them to be? I understood they would vanish in an hour, but not when I stepped foot into BRD an hour before brewfest ended. How is that not considered a bug?

Don't get me wrong; I am sorry you were unable to complete what you were after this year due to the change in functionality and waiting until the end. In the future, it may be advisable when you have the opportunity to take care of things as they come rather than waiting til the last minute.

For me, it was fair justice that they disappeared.

I wasn't sure how much I was going to get to play during brewfest, so I 'cheated' and did the clothing turn-in to make sure I got all the acheivements.

Then, it turns out I could play a lot, so after the brew of the month club and elephant purchase, I still had 400 tokens left.

My plan was to log in last night and rebuy the clothing fair and square. But my internet went down.

" It is what it is".

this is actually a good lesson, because it is as close as I ever got to actually cheating in a game (doing the clothing turn-in).

This is my first year doing Brewfest. I missed 6 days because I was moving and didn't have internet. I was still able to get enough tokens to get all of the achievments before the end of brewfest.

And because you could manage to get some hours in after moving, your anecdotal evidence means that everyone could do the exact same thing you did?

Besides, snitching the coins from people's banks and inventory with no warning on the coins that they would be deleted (like last years coins had written on em) is what is being complained about. I traded in Brewfest Tickets for coins on my main last year, had the remaining coins from the trade in my bank up until August or September of this year. They went *poof* shortly before this years brewfest started, but they did have the duration warning on em... even though I'd bought the damned things with my hard-earned first year tickets.

I don't get it. Where's the harm in people holding on to Brewfest tickets/tokens? I still have scourge stones in my bank from last year's invasion. I still have some other poo-ass items that'll probably never see the light of a vendor for turn-in ever again. What's next on the list... the scourge stones?

And you better not delete any of my first year Brewfest tickets. Those things were alot harder to get than any following events, because the dailies were nowhere near as polished as they are now. The barker quest is a prime example: you used to have to ride it perfectly and actually turn the ram in at the vendor without dismounting at the end of the run, or the quest would fail. Fun stuff. Not.
