Blink will never be fixed. Instead, Blizzard will (mostly) fix the terrain, because that's far easier than fixing a fundamentally flawed spell that has been flawed since 2004 (and probably longer than that).

Yeah, I figured out how to blink correctly... by learning which terrain I can and cannot blink on. I sometimes jump in the air to ensure that blink will work correctly.

Is this by design, or just an issue that blizzard does not care to fix? Blizzard has been so quick to fix new issues with classes, but our old spells that have had issues since the inception of wow, seem to have been left by the wayside (no need to site specifics, but I'm sure you can all use your imaginations). Surely, fixing this would make mages game-breakingly overpowered.

I wonder if wow wiki covers these old topics so players can just check there instead of asking the same question about their class each time it occurs to an individual.

http://www.wowwiki.com/Blink

Oh, too bad, it doesn't.

The world was designed with your ground in place, and then objects such as bridges and caves placed into the world. These extra objects cause issues with blink because they work the same way a cliff would, causing a sharp break in the ground and thus "bugging" blink. This is not something that can ever be fixed.

Disengage does not suffer from these issues, and if you're having trouble with disengage it's a player issue not a mechanics issue.

Also, Mage forum question.

Wonder if just moving the mage forward 20 Feet, regardless of terrain, the rising them up so they are level with the ground would work.

it would because of slight hills and the "ground" in most of the game is little more than paper in thickness. Also the are numerous holes around the edges of terrain segments.

There was a fix to Blink crossing terrain (such as indoor to outdoor) in 3.2.2. If you find situations where it fails, it's more helpful to mention those curcumstances than to just say it "always" fails.

True bugs, like this one, will get processed more quickly if reported in the bug forum. But again, you have to be specific.

This is BS.

A bug that has remained the same through 5 years of game play does not need to be posted or reported on any forum anymore.

It's not simply a problem with blink. When blink fails, it usually fails because of a terrain problem. Reporting the problem along with specifics as to where it happened can help them locate and fix the terrain problem.

Every designer and programmer at Blizzard must know the problems with Blink and its limitations.

If you don't, roll a mage and start blinking; within 30mins you'll figure out exactly where/when/how Blink fails.

So @*#* or get off the pod; but don't tell us to help in some sort of psuedo joint effort to fix Blink by posting on a bug forum that just falls on deaf ears.

Terrain issues can and have been fixed in the past in order to accommodate Blink's mechanics. This isn't a "pseudo joint effort" (whatever the hell that means. Why do people keep abusing the word Pseudo?), it's a request for a bug report. Why is that somehow an unreasonable request?

Last night on General Vezax I blinked backwards on 3 different occasions 2 times were because of a slight divet between me and my final destination and the third may be because of that pebble in the path but I doubt it. Still kind of broken.
