Q u o t e:

Can we get any confirmation on race change restrictions besides Goblin/Worgen.

(example: human hunter)

Throw me a bone here, my will to play anything else has died. However! If I could start leveling a hunter now and flip over to human, well that will keep my VISA plugged into your system instead of taking a break till the xpac! =P

They are going to allow it but not right off the bat day 1. A Blue stated something similar to this in a post a month or so ago. I would be willing to bet they handle it exactly how they did with starting DK's on any server even if you don't have a level 55 on that server in 3.1.

Basically after some time has gone by and we have some 85 Worgen and Goblins they will allow it. I still remember running into a BE Paladin in Hellfire the first week of TBC on my Human Paladin and thinking wtf?

I think the goblins might be pretty fun to play. Can't wait to try out the rocket belt. :p

Edit: Also I can't wait for the revamped Azeroth, I seriously remember all the quests like the back of my hand now. It should make leveling an alt a much more enjoyable experience. Almost like a new game, but the same game. lol.

Q u o t e:
Just thinking about it; Goblins and Worgen aren't actually adding much new in on their own like Death Knights did; both take existing models, use existing class abilities, and get a bit of prettying up in terms of a starting area w/quests and such. But there's no real "point" to them.

Loony theory here, or maybe not-so-loony: Blizzard lamented bringing everyone and their uncle to Hellfire peninsula at the start of TBC. They tried to separate us into other places in Northrend and servers still had trouble, there weren't enough quest mobs, etc.

So...are Goblins+Worgen a clever tactic to further separate out where the population is on servers on launch week?

You make it sound like Draenei and BE weren't new options at the beginning of TBC... o.O

The Druids
Niccala - Feral :: Nizzic - Balance :: Namanca - Resto
The others
Izzi - BM Hunter :: Ishte - Shockadin :: Miraas - Demo Warlock

Q u o t e:

I'm asking about the ability (example) to level a dwarf hunter now and then later race change to a human as soon as I have the xpac installed.

I can't stand ANY of the current races who can be hunters.
Blizzard will allow you to change race into one of the aviable class openings. However, they have not announced when you may be able to do so. It is highly likely that until the Expansion has been out awhile you will not be able to change into Worgen, Goblin, or any new race/class combinations.

It would be more freindly if Blizzard made it so that no sever transfers, faction transfers, or race transfers until the required race/class combination has made the appropiate server first. Then immediately people can change over. So once 85th Worgen and 85th Warrior are complete on Aerie Peak, then people can change to Worgen Warriors from any server/race/faction for Aerie Peak. Do you understand? That would be friendlier than waiting to some X date, which would be set long after exapansion, that simply allows all changes.

In my later view. You would be able to change from Dwarf Hunter to Human Hunter, when someone on Kirin Tor achieved server first Human and one for Hunter.

Then by your standard, there should only be one race because there is no point of different races.

one week =/= for good.

It's better to be pissed off than to be pissed on.

Unfortunately the only answer we have is the same one I have given to this question. We won't know for sure until we are much closer to the launch of the next expansion. We will probably want to see how the system (that isn't out yet) works out and then figure things out for the expansion. I would guess that transfers would be available at some point but probably not right away.

Or pass on a simple fix: program the game to not award "server-first" to anyone who used a paid service for a new race/class combo.

But I do appreciate the answer, and I bluffed, I can't stop playing. :)

On the topic of Race Change(And no, this isn't about release date). Why was the button placed on Account Management when it clearly wasn't ready anytime soon? I mean that button alone has caused a lot of the "Race Change" spam threads.

But it will be ready soon. It just depends on your definition. ;-)

Edit: I guess this post is about race change and / or "soon" now.

I'd change my race from orc to orc if it could make me orc-ier. There's my suggestion for you guys. Make my character orcier (my warrior please, not my warlock).

Q u o t e:
We kind of learned the lesson with Hellfire Peninsula and that was why we made two "starting" zones for Northrend to help spread players out. The new races will help in this too, kind of like how a bunch of people went straight to making a deathknight, but that isn't the primary goal of adding the new races.

Speaking of adding new races, if there are new feats of strength for Cata launch like there were for Frozen Throne, do you think it's fair that the realm first level 85 goblins and worgen are practically guaranteed to be death knights?

For the Alliance: I will kill the Goblin King. I will bring his head to Ironforge, present it to my King, and post it on a pike for all to see.
To the Horde: Genn Greymane will kick your ass.

One good reason to do so is to inform people considering faction change solely for the purpose of race-changing that a superior option will be available soon, and that they may not want to use faction change for that purpose. The Account Management screen is a good place to inform them of this, since it's also where they go to perform faction change.

Unless I'm mistaken, aren't world firsts based on Race AND Class combos? Or is it class only?

Cause if its class/race, nothing changes.

I wish Worgen had there own class. It seems there going to make us wait for anything like that until the next expansion. For now in terms of characters we just get new skins to use. Maybe some racials probably not worth it.

haha the things silly little death knights say.. :D

Am I the only one who really enjoyed Hellfire upon release? I liked seeing the huge amount of people. Made the launch of BC that much more fun :) Maybe I got lucky, because my server's lag wasn't that bad as I recall.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I think it would be cool to see a giant amount of people gathered again. I wasn't around to experience Wrath during it's first month of release so I don't know how well Borean Tundra or Howling Fjord turned out.
