It's a random Lich.

Kel'Thuzad has a hat.

Meh. I was hoping Kel'Thuzad would make good on his promise. But I still think we haven't seen the last of him.

To this note, Blizz please be aware that heroic modes being nothing more than "The mobs hit harder and you take more raid damage" is NOT acceptable for a "hard mode" version of the fight, as was the case throughout ToC. I'm hoping and praying that because the instance itself was hardly developed, that Icecrown will go back to the TRUE creative hard modes that were in Ulduar. Just amping up damage does nothing to the fight to remove the idea of "Hey, didn't I already kill this this week?" that is plaguing many raiding guilds doing ToC now. :\

Ya I agree on heroic mode fight mechanics over all need to be different....

We merely knocked off his hat in Naxx! No wonder why he's still alive.

And as a Horde player I am disappointed we fight against Muradin. I actually like him. Couldn't we have someone I actually want to beat down, please?

Muradin and Illidan are my favorites

You are correction, at least with how we currently plan to do it (things can still change!) - the plan is for 2 raid ID lockouts, not 4.

Sorry for any confusion on this.

While this is awesome for top guilds, this hurts average guilds, because you can do an easy run for loot then go do hard modes, you cant run 2 normal groups then run 1-2 hard groups.

your stuck deciding if its more valuable to just run this normal or wipe on a hard mode.

Now the big question: are you gonna keep a BS 50 wipes per raid thing or is that dropping?

The ensuing debate is so exciting and necessary that I can't stop punching myself in the !%!*

Any chance we'll actually see a Scourge Obsidian Destroyer? Even just one?

Seeing that they did have a whole army of them in WC3...

Curious here, will it be required to do a clear in normal mode before hard mode is accessible? I know that at least 1 high end guild thought that was a major flaw with the Ulduar progression race and personally I think it would be again in Icecrown (we have a somewhat server confined 10-man progression race with another guild).

I was wondering about that too. The obsidian dudes somehow fell into the AQ world (tho they could have always been there), but they're also a big part of the Scourge army too.

They were retconned and given to the quiraji.

Q u o t e:
So let me get this straight. This end expansion, epic raid will have less bosses in it than Naxx or Ulduar, yet it is still considered epic? Help me out here guys. To everyone who seems to love this raid conceptually, how do you reconcile the recycling of villains (evil blood elves!) and the rather low number of bosses?

Because your raid group is going to get stomped 53 times on easy mode and your repair bills are going to run in the upper hundreds before you finally figure out how to clear the whole raid. that's how it will be epic. hell, going in to frozen throne and facing Arthas right off the bat would be epic on it's own.

All I see is a guy with full 232, so KT must have farmed a few heroics and upgraded his bad 213 gear.

Facerollers become RE-rollers.
Less dks overall because facerolling is no longer an option.

I SPEAK FOR ALL CASUAL PLAYERS ( btw thats about 90% of all the players )

Me and my friends work odd hours and don't have time to raid . We can however get together for a daily or a few heroics now and again . Before the emblems had changed to conquest and triumph for the dailies we had pretty much stopped playing on our mains because there was nothing to go for . That all changed when conquest emblems and triumphs became available with some work .

This new change is very welcome by all casuals and gives us a reason to keep playing our mains which most of us love . Btw this is also good for hardcores who have been unlucky with item drops and RNG ...I have run with plenty of TOC 25 man guild raiders going after conquest emblems to fill a gear spot that they have had bud luck getting .

Raiders say " ohh what are we raiding for then " ....well lets see The best gear at the time long before casuals can get it . Epic crafting patters ....and other rare drops . The best titles and achievements in the game . People dont even care what gear you have in this game anymore it's about what you have achieved especially if you can get a rare title .

So please hardcores dont go QQ about not always being 3-4 tiers beyond everyone else . Nobody cares about the look of your gear anyways there are very few new players to ogle at you .

Draenor......nowhere will you find a more wretched hive of scum and villany

Q u o t e:

They haven’t been retconned…yet. In order to have a retcon, lore has to be changed from a previous source. That will only happen if no Obsidian Destroyers under Scourge control appear or there is no story created to explain why there are none left. If that occurs, they will technically be “giving them over” to the Qiraji and a new retcon will exist.

The Qiraji and Nerubians were once a single species, the Aqir. Although not stated explicitly, it’s almost a certainty that the Aqir created the earliest designs for the Destroyers, but never built them. When the Aqir split, both groups likely took the plans (or version of the plans) to build the Destroyers with them when they went their separate ways. For the Qiraji and undead Nerubians (under the Lich King’s control) to build such constructs that are so similar, would be amazing coincidence.

C’thun discovered the plans in Ahn’qiraj and whispered to Vek’lor, who built the very first ones which were imbued with limited sentience by C’thun. The Lich King discovered the plans in Azol’nerub and had his undead build them. Each side simply added their own distinctiveness to them, which is why they are slightly different.

The lore department’s forgot-o-meter has been running pretty high these days. It’s not only the Obsidian Destroyers, but they also seem to be forgetting other villains that they’ve introduced, unless those villains simply aren’t mentioned and will make a surprise appearance.

We get it! The Scourge can raise the dead. Valanar, Keleseth, and Taldaram are back again. But why not throw some San’layn at us we haven’t killed? Like Atherann or Theraldis? I (like many) want to see the loose ends of Wrath tied up in the final patch of Wrath.

That's the model for Rage Winterchill. Whether or not it's Winterchill the character remains to be seen.

EDIT: Also the same as Ras Frostwhisper, Amnennar the Coldbringer, and probably lots of other additional Liches.

EDIT #2: My money's on Amal'thazad, and all those NPCs in the background are goodguy deathknights.
