We certainly don't think pet resilience is useless. We are considering increasing it to 100% of master's resilience to make up for the increased AE damage pets will take in PvP. We don't want pets to explode on contact (neither do we want pet classes to be twice as difficult to kill) but we did think it was a little goofy and unintuitive that pets could just shrug off AE attacks in PvP. We'd rather make pets tougher against all types of damage than be vulnerable to some and nearly immune to others.

But pet classes have that much more to manage. It's complicated enough being a hunter, but managing all the pet abilities too is annoying. They should be simpler to use.

The pet dies, then 20% of our balanced DPS is gone, as well as a lot of the abilities we're balanced around. Killing pets is a no-brainer when you're facing a pet class.

I'm not trying to troll here, but in a lot of the "PvP AE vs. pets" threads, hunters are saying pet resilience is useless and would be useless at 100%.

TBH Yes I would love for hunter pets to have 100% resil.

Since I spend 99% of my time in PVP as the only focus fire target, and I have everyone attacking me (and my near 1000 resil) killing me uber fast, and knowing I can't do anything to stop it...

...I just spam Death Strike over and over on a hunter pet trying to heal myself as much as I can. I would love for the pet to stay up longer so I can at least do some good staying up longer as an easy training dummy.

When the hunter sees me doing that he usually puts the pet on passive, but I just DG it, and CoI it and keep doing it over and over.

Again TBH it in reality has won more fights for me vs hunters than I am really happy about since my arena partner will kill the healer/other DPS for me while the Hunter uses me for his lawn darts.

*Quick edit*

I also love hunter pets because NO ONE ever cleanses my diseases off of them. It is wonder being able to re-up my diseases on everyone who is molesting me by just using 1 BR which I can use to CoI anyone who is trying to kill my caster buds.

Oh wait that won't work next patch.

Ah well I'll just pest twice on it to make sure it hits and use the 2 DR's as an extra Deathstrike :(

So we're thinking along the same lines then. Any chance we get the unholy ghoul hp or resummon cooldown looked at as well? If they're going to be even harder to kill, noone will ever try to kill them: It already isn't worth it at 40% res when they have so much hp and come back so fast. Preventing a resummon isn't even an option.

Perhaps a damage boost for the ghoul would be good compensation? Unholy PvE if anything could use a small ghoul damage increase, and DK PvP representation likely would need compensation. Some static bonus soas not to change DK scaling, but an extra 100 DPS? Gives bonus incentive to kill ghouls in arena too.

They're trolling, give pets 100% resil scaling and.. 145+% stamina scaling for hunters. The pet is a pain to resummon, so it should be a pain to kill!

really? cant tell you how many times ive been chain CC'd in arena so a hunter can go run behind a pillar and beat his mea- i mean rez his pet.

the fact you even have this worry kind of bothers me.

pet classes are balanced around the pet being alive. killing the pet and thus removing functionality is an option. it doesnt have to happen for the class to die. it can, but isnt mandatory. if for some reason the pet 'has' to die in order to kill the class then something is wrong elsewhere.

that may be the case for locks. lock pets may have to die for certainc omps to get a win. this is NOT the case for hunters though. the only reason hunter pets get killed is locking down the hunter is even easier with the pet dead.

Please, please do. They already pretty much explode on contact on anything higher than 2v2 arenas.

I think pet scaling in general is a problem right now when considering all stats. Obviously not a big one, but one that is making life for pet classes not so fun. I think in many ways that's why demonology has not seen the lime light since early naxxramas. Also consider how destro uses the imp to increase the warlocks damage through a higher crit percentage or how affliction the pet becomes a reletive non-factor as warlocks will just summon a succubus and let her do what little she can to increase our combined dps.
I've noticed that as warlocks obtain higher levels of gear our pets seems to become more of a tag along rather than a powerful demon servant.

Currently right now my armory says I have 2923 spell power, which gives 438 spell power to my pet (15% SP coefficient)...
Absolutely horrendous scaling. I had more spell power than that when I was still 60. I realize that firebolts are basicly "free casts" by my imp, But I wonder what is the point of being a pet oriented class if my pet is such a minor detail of my character?

Of course I suppose the way the current pet system works is actually the best scenario for warlocks currently because most of our damage comes from ourselves. Being reliant on a pet to do a major portion of our damage wouldn't be very good either, when considering how stupid they can be or how easily they die. :-(

Then do it. I don't understand what is taking so long for this to happen. It's obvious that you want the pet classes to rely on their pets for Utility.

There are 2 ways that you can go about this.

1.) Buff the Mess out of Pet Survivability. Leave summoning/rezzing costs as is. Keep pet damage as is.

2.) Keep Pet Survivability the same. Virtually Eliminate summoning/rezzing costs and time, a la UH DK's. Keep Pet damage as is.

Or, shift reliance away from the pets. Make pet DPS a little more bursty, and move some of the utility away from the pet, and give it baseline to the Hunter. Abilities like RoS and Master's Call come to mind.
Making the pet DPS bursty would actually make Hunters be more strategic with their pets.

while we're on the subject of pet resilience/PVP, can you get rid of the need to lv pets for hunters? Some people might find this fun or a means to bond with their animal. However, I've found lving multiple pets to be tedious. Alot of the pets I want to lv start at 75-76. Its boring, and it means that I can't really use that pet for pvp & lv 80 content until I've finished leveling it. No other class is subject to a pointless pre-requisite like this.

If that is the case could we have a look again at de-linking Wild Hunt fin the Tenacity tree while you are at it with Avoidance.

Grace of the mantis already has little use for PvE pets and Roar of Sacrifice has none, this change will essentially remove the last PvE application of GotM (pet tanking) meaning that we are wasting three points in PvP only talents just to get to the mandatory WH.

Bliz'll figure it out ! :)

Though I gotta say I'm gonna randomly lose my pet more from him getting iced as I rocket boot or get death gripped elsewhere to fight. I wouldn't mind the aoe stuff at all if the "pet come back, please" button were a pet instantly by my side button. It'd also take care of the fact that my feldom is on CD all the time when attacking cities or otherwise having fun, since he de-summons himself a lot.

Anywho, know bliz'll figure out what to do, but if I could get my pet around easier, and fel dom wasn't on CD from UC elevator, I wouldn't feel like griping about pet stuff much I bet.

I swear that wasn't directly to the ghostcrawler.

Do not speak directly to the ghostcrawler.
