I was actually hoping for Dark Iron-like totems.

The once seen in the screenshot don't resemble any particular dwarvish designs that I can recall seeing - on top of that they seem rather plain.

Draenei get the space cactus.
Trolls get voodoo masks.
Taurens get the totem-pole totems.
Orcs get axes they stick into the group.

and then dwarves...
get colored torches.

Dwarf totems = roman candles with wings

Gotta say the beer keg idea would have been better than these road flares.

You guys might care... but I think the artists totally missed the point.

These look more like sports memorabilia bought at the closest faction rep store and not at all like religious icons.

The worst is the orc totem with the logo right on it. The dwarf totem could have been something covered in cool dwarfish runes or something like that.

I also don't buy the Wildhammer explanation. Why have the Ironforge wings on it then?

Edit: Wait, there are feathers casually tied to them! Certainly a strong example of Wildhammer influence...

I think the Dwarf totems lack a smidge of oomf that the other totems seem to have. I get that you didn't want beer kegs, but they don't really scream Dwarf like the Troll and Orc ones are very clearly for their races.

That's why you should think about using ale steins instead of kegs. They'd make better totems and provide a better grip for the shaman to pick em up and set em down with. It also fits in with lore very well since there's steins in almost any dwarven building you set foot in for the past almost five years this game has been going.

If beer kegs/mugs aren't suitable, how about axes, hammers, anvils, forges?

Another thought is to have the totems stack on top of each other instead of 4 corners from the player and have them share healthpool. Maybe only when Stoneskin totem is dropped?

I imagine the Dwarf shamans will have more wildhammer to them, right? Same with NE mages, many Highborne stuff, right *thinks on how BE pallies were handled*, Now that I remember, why is the BE society all about pallies? Aren't mages still the most important part of the society anyways, and pallies just new?

I like the dwarf totems. Nice round dwarven shields with wings. I couldn't be happier about them. Actually I could be happier; I could be able to roll a dwarf shaman when I get home for work. That will have to wait for Cataclysm.

Just because you care about the lore doesn't mean dwarfs can't fashion totems out of their trusty drink containers. =/

I personally love the Orc totems. They are very...orcish.

What exactly is so "wildhammer" about these totems besides the feathers I didn't even notice until someone pointed them out to me?

While I understand dwarf totems not being kegs, I would have liked have seen totems crafted from stone, metal, or gems. Something from the earth. Dwarfs never struck me as woodworkers.
